  1. 391, man I truly hate to hear that. I had heard that he was one of the studs for you guys and was last years star qb brother. Always hate to see any player go down. What year is he?
  2. MScheerleadertothecore and girlygirlyman, oh I get it now, sarcastic humor that you dont get to use on your VP job - and if I don't like it - I should eat a rock. Boy, I bet you could give some real insight on football analysis. The questions I keep asking of you about football still remain unanswered. You would rather use your sarcastic humor that you don't get to use on your VP job than answer legit questions - must be from South
  3. Smart-a-tothecore and rebelrebelman, tell the truth, you guys are really girls arent you. Your responses to honest opinions as to how to win football games tells the tale on who you really are--middle school cheerleaders that want to date the high school qb. I'm still waiting for your answer to the question I asked earlier about if you thought that your O-line would dominate, if your D would stop THS running game cold, and what was the other thing you said, oh yea, your db's would cover all our receivers and shut down the passing game. Is that what you think it would take for South to win the game? Would there be anything else that South would need to do insure a win? Can't wait to hear you girls response.
  4. Can't really comment on past years games here W1ldcat as this is my first year back from a few years away. And like I said I havent seen South play this year. As far as the Stubbs-Carter matchup, it will be interesting. I know there has been some critism of Stubbs and Co. some this year for playcalling, but I aint so sure that its more like Stubbs is smart like a fox. He has seemed to pull another tool out of the toolbox each game. Special teams for the Vikes seems to be pretty solid. No significant returns on the coverage teams that I can remember. We did have a ko return for td last week against Central. How about yours?
  5. w1ldcat, thanks for helping me out a little. I've seen a few THS games (the good, the bad and the ugly) but have not seen any South games. Just by sheer number of points they put on the board every game there is no doubt that they have a high powered O. Still not sure just how good the Viking O is, I suspect that they are pretty good and getting better. What you said about being a balanced attack is right on. For THS to be successful they have to keep South honest with the pass, a point I was making in my original post but it seemed to offend smart-a-tothecore and the other smart-a-tothecore, rebelrebelman. It also seemed to offend those brilliant football minds that I felt like that another key for THS success was pressure on the QB and solid secondary play, a point that you also made. Thanks for your perspective w1ldcat. Looking foward to a hard fought game, hope there are no injuries for either team, and pulling for the Vikes.
  6. Don't know about the steak dinner, but yea, the answer was real hilarious. Hilarious if all you got is sarcasm for a rebuttal to, what was it you called it, "obvious" keys to winning games. And answer me why I can't highlight what you call questionable areas on my team and say if they step up we will be successful. Aint that what rising to the occasion, overcoming the odds, moving up to that next level is all about. Yea, now I am laughing. Not a very solid response from you or smart-a-tothecore, just dumb sarcasm. Still waiting on a response to the question I had for you guys on player matchup. Be interested to hear.
  7. Hey rebeltothecore, interested in what you consider to be the key to victory for your team. Wondering if that would be some "profound" thinking on your part. Also, would like to get your take on player matchup. Who's got the best players? Be interested in your "profound" reply.
  8. Oh, I'm sorry, smartass. Didn't know that describing keys to a win would bring out your "smartassothecore" brilliance. By the way, I didn't describe the perfect game as much as you did. I have a question, do you think "the rebel offensive line will play well and dominate?" Do you think that your "run defense stops THS cold?" and do you think your "pass defense covers every reciever on every play?" If you don't---then THS wins. WOW!! Is that what you call profound?
  9. Been a while since I put my two cents worth in. IMO the game will come down to 2 things. How well the Viking offensive coaches scheme and call plays and how well the Viking secondary plays on defense. If the coaches come up with a good game plan, decide to have a balanced attack, use no. 44 as he should be used, keep the Rebel defense on their heels, the Vikings will put quite a few points on the board. The Viking secondary need to step up and play solid and the guys up front need to put pressure on no. 4. If the Vikes are sucessful doin that----congrats MLC champs
  10. Bearslayer, your response to the suggestion that maybe we blitz more and better to help out our inexperienced d backs is true, but that is exactly why we should be doing it rather than not doing it. You're saying if I understand you that we shouldn't blitz more because we dont have the personnel to do it. What am I missing? I'm saying lets blitz more because we are vulnerable to the pass in the d backfield, what have we got to lose? As far as we don't need to be doing it much, why not try, we've never done it much that I remember, let's see what happens. Look, I know that if you try to live by the blitz, you're very likely to die by the blitz. But if we have a choice of playing straight up and qb's are able to look downfield and make throws vrs sending some more guys through some gaps and maybe putting some more pressure and maybe make some hits on the opposing qb, it might lead to some sacks and bad throws.
  11. Bearslayer, yea, the defense needs some athletes to be plugged into those positions that we lost from last year, a 2007 defense that I believe had at least 3 all conference players. And then this year we have the injuries to Green and Pendleton to start out the season, so there you have back ups to replace first time starters. Then you have to try to fill the holes that Dickerson, Coleman and Barrett leave from last year. So basically you have only 4 returning starters from last year on defense. A tall order even for the best of coaching staffs. And again we have the injuries to Howard, Simmons, Green, Pendleton. But honestly given the circumstances the defense has not done too awful bad. No doubt we are very suseptable to the pass and South will definitely exploit that. But here again, something your kinda sensitive about-coaching. If you have weaknesses on defense, just what exactly are the coaches doing to maybe help protect or at least cover up some of those weaknesses? We're very suspect in the d backfield, right? Well what kind of elaborate stunt and blitz packages have we put in to maybe put more pressure on opposing qb's to help out our db's? When's the last time you saw us "bring the house"? Whens the last time you saw a corner blitz? When's the last time you saw lb's jumping in and out of the inside gaps trying to create a little confusion for opposing o lines, whens the last time you saw a zone blitz. And then, ask yourself, can the offense maybe help the defense a little? When I say help the defense-I mean put points on the board. We have the ability to do that if we had an offensive philosphy. But that lesson is for another day. Go Vikes!
