  1. I would congrat them if they do, but they were a long ways away from it last year. Plus, Alcoa is the king of mountain, until someone knocks them off of it.
  2. Wow, those are some big words from a 5-6 team last year. Yes, Besty should be better, but a state championship? There is the little school outside of Knoxville called Alcoa, that is pretty darn good. You say, "They should have 8 killer linemen". Where were those boys last year? We know they got athletes, but last year their defensive/offensive lines were horrible!!!
  3. North should have a good team. Does anybody know if Betsy's line is going to be any better this year? I know Betsy will have some playmakers, but do they have any lineman?
  4. This is funny. DB fans have been spoiled. Anytime a high school football team has 10 wins in a season, that is awesome. DB is judged if they have a good season or not, only if they make to the state semifinals or better. The critics eat thier recent playoff disasters up. DB is the king of the mountain around here, until they get knocked off. DB's biggest problem is they need an offensive cordinator. Let GC just run the program. The defense will be good as long as Coach Watson is there.
  5. I think DB still has some talent for the couple of years that could win it all. Their sophmore and freshman classes are the real deal. So, next year they might not be up to DB standards, but the year after they should dominate.
  6. Wow, people has already started trash talking on here about the South and DB game. It is only March! Somethings just don't change.
  7. I don't know what they will call this district. Who will be East's qb? Gaby graduated, and he was their MVP last year.
  8. Greeneville should dominate their district. Playing a tough out of district schedule will help prepare them for the playoffs. Greeneville will win 7+ games a year for sure, and should be safe for atleat the first two rounds of the playoffs. They will end up playing Austin East and Fulton out of Knoxville, if I had to guess in the playoffs.
  9. They should be really good in their new district, but they a very tough out of conference schedule. They lost alot of players from last year's team. Who do they have returning?
  10. I never thought of that, but it is possible. If we only have only three high schools in the whole county (DB, TH, and Sullivan) they would be huge. All three high schools would be playing in the largest classification in every sport.
  11. Who is the likely starter at QB? Roop or Seabolt?
  12. That should be North's toughest game of the year, and a good game to watch.
  13. You have a right to your opinion, but try to look at it in an other perspective. It could help all the systems in different ways. It want happen anytime soon, but it will sooner or later.
  14. Why do you say that? I work for Kingsport City, and I never have had any problems. I doubt South will become a city school or North for that matter. I say in about 10 years (give or take a few) our school systems (Bristol, Kingsport, and Sullivan County) will be under one Board of Education, like Knoxville and Nashville.
  15. North will be here next year as a high school and middle school (7th and 8th grade). The county commisioner, from the South Zone, that made the comments that lead to the article in the paper was a smoke screen. Colonial Heights will be annexed into the City of Kingsport in 2010. He made that statement to try to get North closed and save South in the future. The City has taken all the students that they can from the North Zone. So, now it is South's turn. I am not blaming Kingsport City Schools, it is just part of life. The surburban area of Kingsport is growing. Sooner or later Sullivan County, Bristol City, and Kingsport City Schools will be under one Board of Education. Until then, the County schools are going to have make the best out of the situation they are in for now. Now, back to football, in AA North is going to have a good team next year. Their toughest games will be against Daniel Boone and Elizabethton. They should do well in their new conference, schedule, and the players they got coming back. In AAA, DB, South, and TH are going to be the teams to beat. Daniel Boone and SH will be right there with those teams. All five of those teams has alot of questions that need answering. For DB, Who will be the next quarterback, go to widereciever, and their line? The good knews for DB is the quarterback gets to hand the ball to # 32! That will make the play at QB easier and make that O-line look better too! I trust that the coaches at DB will have their boys ready. However, I think the biggest question for the Indians is "what is Coach Watson going to do?" He is the anchor on that coaching staff.
  16. Sullivan North 2009 Schedule Thur., 8/20 - @ Sullivan Central Fri., 8/28 - @ Volunteer Fri., 9/4 - vs. Sullivan East D Fri., 9/11 - vs. Rye Cove, VA Fri., 9/18 - @ Elizabethton D Fri., 9/25 - vs. Daniel Boone Fri., 10/2 - @ Johnson Co. D Fri., 10/9 - OPEN Thur., 10/15 - vs. Happy Valley D Sat., 10/17 - @ Haysi, VA Fri., 10/23 - OPEN Fri., 10/30 - @ Unicoi Co. D
  17. It is accurate. It came down to North playing just 9 games or two games in three days. They chose to play two games in three days. Haysi came available at the last minute.
  18. I am just wondering how much talent is returning for the 2009 season. The only 4A team is Sullivan East, and the 3A teams are Johnson County, Unicoi County, Happy Valley, Elizabethton, and Sullivan North. So, lets talk about it! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. I heard today that there might be a transfer coming by the end of this week!
  20. The QB will be #16 Chris Gilliam and North's Mr. Everything #7 Eric Pearcy. Pearcy will play alot at one of the wingback positions and run the ball. He will carry the ball 15 to 20 times this coming season. He will occasionally will line up at QB to throw and run the option. There aren't any transfers so far, but that could change. Last year is the first time that we benefited from transfers. In the previous years we have been on the loosing side of transfers. North had players leave to go play at DB or Gate City.
  21. I wouldn't mind seeing them play Pittman again. That would be a good out of conference game. North use to play them all the time in 3A.
  22. No, they didn't want to. Rye Cove did, and that is a close game for us. North always tries to have one or two Virginia schools on their schedule. I would like to see them play some of the Greene County schools in the next district of AA, or another Carter County school like Hampton or Clounland.
  23. There should be some good games next year for North. The Boone and Elizabethton game especially. I agree with what you said Crawdad. All of these games look winable, but looseable at the same time. I would prefer Clintwood over Rye Cove and Tri-Cities Christian too, but the new classification caused alot of problems. North was in a bind to find 5 games. Alot of the teams we usually play got bumped up to AAA, which they only needed three games to play. For example Tenn. High, Sullivan South, David Crockett, Sullivan Central, Volunteer, Daniel Boone, and David Crockett are all in AAA now. North is playing Boone, Central, and Volunteer from the local AAA teams. The main problem was the lack of availabilty of the other local schools schedule for North, due to them only having three out of conference games, where we needed five. I agree with you also on cheering our fellow Kingsport teams. I hope come playoff time North, DB, and South all make a good showing. Last year the three teams were combined 30 wins and 5 loses. The best that I can remember.
  24. Sullivan North had their best season since the early 2000's. They are moving down in size where they belong and should have a good season next year. They lost alot of seniors, but still are returning the bulk of their line, and # 7 Eric Pearcy. They will be playing Sullivan East, Happy Valley, Unicoi County, Johnson County, and Elezibethton in their new district. Out of district they will be playing Sullivan Central, Daniel Boone, Volunteer, Rye Cove (VA), and their last game is not for sure yet who it will be. The last I heard it could be Clintwood (VA) or Tri-Cities Christian School. I prefer it would be Clintwood, but scheduling this year was difficult for everyone due to the the new classification system.
  25. I agree with alot what coachinghopeful said. GC is a great person that runs the best program in this area. He runs a clean program and doesn't put up with hardly any crap. He might not be the best offensive genius there is, but he isn't the worst either. DB has been spoiled over the years with GC there. He has done a solid job at DB. Alot has to be said for a clean program. I wonder what is the graduation rate of DB football players? I bet it would be a high percentage.
