  1. What a great game last night between Page and Hickman! Hickman's defense really shut Page down for the better part of 3 quarters before Page made a big run and took the lead. Credit the Lady Dawgs for weathering the storm and rallying late in the 4th to tie it and send it to overtime. Hannah Pendergrass played well late in the game for the Dawgs when it mattered most, including several crucial free throws. A big win for HC in a tight district race.
  2. It's great to see this thread up and running, as it means baseball season is just around the corner! 12AA should be tough once again for whoever emerges as the champ. Spring Hill has turned into a power in AA baseball as Coach Lamm always reloads and has the Raiders ready. This year will be no different. Marshall has tradition on their side as well as great starting pitching, which definitely wins a lot of games early in the year. Pitching will be even more important now with the BBCOR bats and a less-offensive game. Giles always plays with a lot of energy and a lot of speed. They make things happen on the bases and score a lot of runs. Page was down last year, but Coach Brown runs a great program and no doubt will bounce back as his team gains experience. Lewis lost several seniors and the MVP in Ammons, but they seemed to have some good middle school kids coming up the last couple of years and a good freshman group last year, so Tiller will probably play some young talented kids and I look for them to be tough, especially in the second half of the season. I think your description of Summitt is very accurate, young but talented, and will be well-coached with Coach Kirby having much success at his previous job. They are definitely an up and coming program to watch. Hickman is an interesting team to watch and could be the x-factor in a lot of the final standings. When the lefty Hays is pitching well, they can shut anyone's offense down. Control can be a problem at times. The core of the team has been playing together for 3 or 4 years now and it is Coach Chessor's 4th year at HCHS. They have improved much during that time, and the question is are the Dawgs ready to take the next step? Time will tell. East Hickman and Fairview don't look to have a lot of returning pitching, which could present some matchup problems for the Jackets and Eagles. I don't know much about upcoming players, but they may struggle based on what they have coming back from last year's teams. But as we always see in 12AA, anything can happen on any night. Should be another exciting season!
  3. Well said. Middle school success doesn't always translate to high school success because of playing in a much tougher district, along with losing some players along the way for various reasons. Whoever the coach is needs the support of all parties involved before any consistent success can happen.
  4. Great game by the Bulldogs on Friday night, especially in the 2nd half. The D really stepped up against the passing attack of EH and only allowed an early FG and a late TD in the 4th when the game was already out of reach. Blake Johnston ran the ball very well once again. 35-10 Bulldogs, now on to Waverly. Coach Rewis' team has really improved consistently since the start of the season. Congrats on a good win!
  5. Does anyone know a score from the East Hickman/Fairview game last night, or the Lewis/Page game?
  6. It all cranks up tonight. Lewis is the clear favorite here, but HC is still the defending district tournament champs from 2010. It's been an up and down season for the Lady Dawgs with a lot of freshmen seeing significant playing time and roles. They played well last week with a win over East Hickman and a close loss to Perry County, so hopefully that springboards them into the tourney. The big question is how will these new faces respond in pressure situations? I'm sure Barrett's old buddy Judkins will have some tricks up his rolled up sleeves tonight for the Lady Dawgs. Should be a good one in the 'burg. I'm predicting a close win here for Barrett's Brigade. Any other thoughts and predictions from the other games?
  7. Any scrimmages around the district this week?
  8. The Dawgs have been in a lot of close games late this season, but have had trouble closing them out. That was the case in the first game with Lewis this season. Hopefully the boys from HC finally put a complete game together tonight for a W in this border rivalry. Thoughts and predictions?????
  9. Time for the showdown in C'ville tonight. A battle of the Top 2 in District 12AA. I think Barrett's Brigade takes this one to win the district outright. Predictions???????

    District 10 AA

I don't usually post a lot on Coach T as you can see by my number of posts, but after reading these idiotic comments by both HC and EH "kids" no doubt, I felt I needed to add my two cents. First, I am an HC baseball fan, have been for years, and a friend of their coach. I have no kids playing or any other ties to the program. I have also watched East play a couple times this year. You have a very good coach and should be proud. But to come on here and bash Coach Chessor is totally out of line and shows very little class. I know first hand the time and effort he poured into the middle school program during his two years up there. He took that program to a runner up finish last year and 15 wins when that program hadn't done crap before he got there. So get off his case. He was presented with an opportunity to return to his alma mater and coach a group of kids he has known his whole life. Stop taking it so personally that he chose not to keep coaching at East Hickman. Be proud of Coach Britt and the great things he is accomplishing with your program, but take the high road and don't bash a good coach and a GREAT person like Coach Chessor. I've followed most of their games this years and a few of East games when I had the chance. East has more upper classmen playing and should be better than Centerville, bottom line. Centerville starts 3 or 4 freshmen and a sophomore every game. There's going to be some lumps taken when you do that but they will get better as the season goes along. Go good luck to both programs and both coaches. You are both lucky to have the upgrades at the head coach position over last year. On a side note, Congrats Spring Hill on two fine games. You have a great team and best of luck the rest of the season.

Neither team is loaded in talent. No one is saying that. But both schools have new head coaches this year and both will be better prepared to play each game than last year. The talent level is what it is, and Hickman County is not a hotbed of athletes. But good coaches make the most of what they have to work with through preparation and practice. Both of these coaches will have their teams prepared to play. HC, you got two good ones in Coach Chessor and Coach B. Wish they were still on our end of the county.

The Garren kid is good and so is Edwards. I don't believe they have many upperclassmen other than those two. This team is probably not ready to challenge for a district title just yet, but I am convinced they will be much more competitive than last year. Playing HC will no longer be a freebie in district play as was the case for much of last season. Coach Chessor will have them competing game in and game out. With a little more pitching depth, this team could be pretty good in the future.
  13. Congratulations Jaclyn! Quite and accomplishment and something to be very proud of. You've played a major role along with Coach Barrett in restoring a once prominent girls basketball program. And yes, CORY BARRETT for MAYOR of Centerville /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. I like your chances too IF all of the kids continue playing in high school after leaving EHMS. The problem is there is a track record of East Hickman athletes not continuing their playing careers in high school, whether it be quitting, failing, dropping out, whatever the case may be. And Coach Jones has become the scapegoat but this has been going on long before EHHS even opened. The HCHS coaches were the scapegoats before Coach Jones arrived. They didn't play the kids that were from East. That's all we heard. I agree that East Hickman CAN have a great football program in the future if they keep their good groups of athletes TOGETHER and ON THE FIELD. The athletes have always been there...keeping them in sports has been the challenge. Wow, that's original. We all know there are no good Centerville players on that HCHS team. They're ALL from East /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  15. LC vs. EH will not be a game. East has a bright future but no chance of winning this game, probably not much of a chance of being competitive. Too much talent and experience on LC's side.
  16. Nice move by whoeover wrote East on the side of the hill at the football field and put the big E over the HC logo at midfield. That's all the Dawgs needed was a little more motivation for the game tonight.
  17. Fact. The conditions are all favorable for East going into the game. HC's top two running backs are out and there's a good chance of rain. The eagles have some momentum coming off their first win in program's history. But I think HC will be fired up coming off the LC loss and still has too much talent this year for EH, but it should be a good atmosphere tomorrow night. Hopefully the rain is out of here by gametime.
  18. All I can say is that the people got what they've wanted. I've heard nothing but people moan and groan and complain about the "old" middle school coach over the past several years. We shouldn't hear a peep from anyone now. You got Coach Roder out of there, so be happy now. Everyone's wanted a new middle school coach for years, so there you go. You got what you asked for and have no one to blame but yourselves.
