  1. Is this True? Who were the girls that quit? As long as it wasn't Jai Jai, Ellen, Shayla or Cravanis (sp) then im pretty sure they will be OK. If anyone else has heard about this then chime in...this could really change the top half of the District and open the door for some other teams to sneak in
  2. The Irish played mostly freshman themselves. KCHS started 4 of them if I remember correctly. Why would the varsity head coach, coach the jv team at a summer camp, because he did coach them during that particular game. Who knows, who cares. The big girl for WB was a JV player, then, you guys must be loaded with size on the varsity. I guess you will be a darkhorse this year. What does Heritage have? Coach Howard seems to always have a good program and good players. Well does Catholic have anything other than Freshman? aren't they hanging all their hopes on this Freshman recruiting class? I saw that game and it was definitely WB-JV and Catholic played the same lineup they always played.... so I genuinely do not get excited about camp games..however, in this situation the Varsity Catholic team beat a JV WB team... Don't sleep on William Blount they are going to sneak up on a lot of people this year and make a push for 4 or 5 MARK IT DOWN! Heritage has a loaded bunch of guards...however they will miss Maples a TON!! its all on Burnett and their 3point shooting. The District is totally wide Open this Year!! Maryville the favorite to win hands down..anything after that is anyones guess
  3. Yeah Maryville only won a State Championship and Bearden made it to the State Tournament last year. Hasn't it been like 3 years since Catholic has won even a district and like 5 years since they came in second in the Region and went to state? I think recent history doesn't make Catholic a Playoff powerhouse....just my opinion
  4. I agree with a lot of your points and disagree with a few 1. Maryville will be the team to beat this year.....With two players that big it will be hard to match up 2. Bearden's "style" frustrated people last year because you had Hearst on Defense swatting balls left and right and Sanders knocking down threes.....those two are gone..we will see if the style still works 3. Farragut's Newby is the only returning starter...however they have a blonde guard that is super athletic and the whole team seems to play defense 4. Heritage will really miss Maples....Burnette can't do it on her own..and I think Thomas will be missed more than people think...however if they are hitting 3's then they are big time trouble I think the (2,3,4) is a total toss up between Bearden, Heritage, and Farragut....i would put Bearden closer to 4 because they have been riding Sanders and Hearst for 4 straight years..its going to be an adjustment Look out for WB.....great small guards West will really miss Erica Lane...changes the dynamic of that team
  5. Yeah i agree that calling someones knowledge "nonexistent" to be a little rude and over the top but thats just me. However in Defense of the LC poster, it seems like a lot of people have been saying that the District is wide open and could end up a lot of different ways. With this said I would just for the sake of Pre-Season rankings pick the wide-open team with the "Best Player". If you asked who is the best player in District 4 AAA then Im pretty sure everyone (except Spurrier) would pick Tyler Hood. So i would give the nod to the LC. On a side note...i keep hearing how awesome Catholic is going to be. Didn't they barely win their first district game, lose the championship and then get blown out by Carter in AA? just wondering which is easier AA or AAA (Kingston, CAK, Anderson Co. vs. Bearden, Maryville, and Farragut) just throwing it out there Carter was a really good team, they beat Catholic then went on to beat A-E, they also made state and should have beat Booker T. in the first round of the state tournament. You talk as if Carter was a lousy team. I'm sure they were better than LC last year. Catholic did lose in the district tournament championship game by 5 to Stone Memorial another good team. Know one said they were awsome, just a good team. This years team is a LOT better than last years team, more mobile post players, better shooters and the juniors, who all played JV as sophomores showed this summer they are ready to play. The best player doesn't win a league title, the best team does. Clarify your statement barely win their first district game? They won their first district game by like 14 points last year on the road and with out key players who were out winning a state championship in football. And to remind you last year was suppose to be a rebuilding year for the Irish (they had graduated 8 seniors from the year before) and found a way to finish 18-9 (10-2 in their district). I never said they would win the district, they would be competitive. I can tell you this, LC won't win the distirct just because Tyler Hood is the best player. West has the most talent, Maryville and Bearden are always loaded, and Farragut will be better than people think. William Blount looked good too, so this is wide open. But, if you want to, go ahead and crown the Panthers district champs, before a game has been played, this is after all, just people's opinions and everyone has theirs. With the district tournament being held at LC, they could win that. It seems to me that the LC contingendt is basing their 2010 district championship on 2 victories last year, Farragut and Maryville, which is fine. Good luck this season. A few points -People are so sensitive and have selective reading. I said the District was "Wide Open" and for the sake of pre-season rankings i was going with the team that has the dominate palyer. Not crowning anyone district champs -Once again i could be wrong here but i thought Catholic got a First Round bye in the district and their first game was a 2pt win over a powerhouse Scott Co. Team -I think its funny you sing the praises of Carter for being so awesome and LC for being all hype around one player and Carter happens to have a dude Named Lester Wilson who carried that team on that big run I will close with my 3rd time saying "District is wide open"
  6. Yeah i agree that calling someones knowledge "nonexistent" to be a little rude and over the top but thats just me. 7. Not sure about Freshman..I hear they had a good group at North Middle For their season who knows? They seem extremely unpredictable...i think its all on the Sophomores
  8. Does anyone know if she has moved? Is it official? What does this do to the balance of power in District 4 ?
  9. Has anyone seen the teams at the Lenoir City, CAK, or Fulton Camps? I watched a game at Lenoir City and Heritage and Maryville both looked strong.
  10. Heard that Farragut lost to siegel by 1 in OT and earlier today Heritage beat Pickett Co., Lost to siegel by 1, and beat Oliver Springs Have not seen Maryville yet this summer
  11. I saw both Heritage and Bearden and would totally give the lead to Heritage...wasn't very impressed with Bearden The Farragut post player looked really strong at Maryville camp yesterday William Blount is very similar to last year, scrappy and can shoot. However, they have no size! have not seen LC, Maryville, West or Catholic
  12. All the teams lost their go to players and have some young players ready to step up..thats why i like Heritage, thomas will be missed but they return big time contributors in Burnette, Maples, Morris and Bracket (i think she is a senior) The others in no order The Remaining questons 1. Bearden: Can Jai Jai and Ellen Smith carry the load without Hirst and Ricky Sanders? 2. Maryville: Brazzeal (sp) and Vaught..can they replace Roberts and Lawrence? 3. Farragut: How will they score without Torrence and Can Newby avoid the Jr. Slump? 4. Lenoir City: Will TSSAA let them have 20 girls on the bench? will the young kids step up? 5. William Blount: made progress last year, can they turn the corner? 6. West: What is life going to be like without Erika Lane and can Shira and Patterson do it alone? 7. Catholic: will they even win a game? Replaces South Doyle as the Districts only "sure thang" Hopefully we will see some of these answers during summer camps!!!! Going to be a wild District!
  13. District 4AAA will be wide open....all the teams in the district lost a lot to graduation. If you had to pick early favorites its probably Heritage, they lost a few players but still bring back Burnette (sp) and the Sophomore post Maples ..second is probably Maryville or Bearden
  14. Have there been any Lenoir City players transferring out to other schools?
  15. Well i wouldn't put that much stock in the Oak Hill game getting these guys signed, none of them signed at big time DI program. Nothing wrong with that, they were great players....but they were going play college for free no matter what schedule Bearden played. The Oak Hill game was nice for publicity but at the end of the day..did it make any real difference?
  16. This isn't the "New York Times" its a Message board, its not a big deal. Coach Fryer is not going to go to jail and Mt. Juliet won't get the death penalty for this. Its a video of an event, the poster posts it and people make their comments..if someone totally believes everything they read (or see on a message board then they are naive) CoachT orwarded the link to the proper channels and the process will play itself out. If anything, it might put coaches on notice that with current technology (camera phones, youtube Etc.) there are always people watching and it might help keep people in check. I think this video link posted on this site will act as a greater deterrent than anything TSSAA will do. Its so hard for TSSAA to prove and punish rule breakers, however i don't think anyone wants to be on YOUTUBE doing anything sketchy that could be construde as cheating. just one opinion
  17. Totally Hilarious!! I love how people justify..."ohh well he isn't talking to the players, he is just signaling a friend of his across the gym to bring him a diet coke" as he sits directly behind the teams bench and its just a coincidence that he points in the direction of 2 players and they are instantly allowed to enter the game. One previous poster made a great comment...its definitely against the rules...just owe up to it..admit he either got busted or got carried away one game and got too involved...either way its cheating. And the "ball-boy" coach is really awesome...as fryer coaches them up..he picks up the balls....awesome We need more Youtube posts !!!!!!
  18. How do you know his JV record? Thats weird Also Imagine the pay-cut to go from Maryville to Lenoir City...need to keep that in mind..it would be substantial
  19. There are major differences between the two, both in terms of strategy and most importantly in terms of how to handle the players. I agree though that a good coach can modify their style and adapt
  20. David Scott is an assistant coach with the Oak Ridge girls program
  21. Some scary grammar......quality education in the LC
  22. I agree with keeping girls names out of criticisms...thats pretty low class However a little tid bit of information ,Farragut only has 1 feeder middle school that doesn't even play in the TMSAA and Farragut has to share part of those students with Hardin Valley....they are still competitive though
  23. Gibbs? They are going to be WAY WAY down. All they have is Taylor Mills (Which is more than most...she is an amazing player) but aside from her their 5 other top players all graduated. If Taylor can still score 30 against constant double teams then they could maybe win. Its all CAK.
  24. What about the assistant coach Courtney McDaniel....I wonder if she is a candidate?
