  1. To answer your question its the only family I know about because I don't put my nose in other peoples business (I'm too busy working to do much socializin' anyway)! I'm not the kind of person that likes to hear all the sordid details of everyone's life as its not my business what they do, unless they want to share. ie I don't gossip in other words. If they aren't talking, I'm not asking. I just happen to be close to this family, that's why I know so much about them. I "grew" up with them as it were. Anyway, you don't get why I posted it. my point was there IS someone on the team like that. it was stated that NO ONE was. I was just proving case in point that you can't make blanket statements like that. I mean if you can say there are no poor families at lipscomb (there are, you can go there on financial aid) then why can't I say, for example there are NO christian families in public schools. Some of the posters here would be ready to skin me, right? My point was that you can't make blanket statements like that. You can't assume that just because the tuition is x amount of dollars that poor folk can't go there. the misconceptions make me laugh. I refuse to parade peoples lives over the internet for a discussion that will change nothing about your views, why bother? that's stupid. I don't care who they play, thankfully they don't play the fans! all the spite would poison the boys before they got on the field -__-. (this site needs to stop messing with my faces, I like them the way they are >.<) I was going to type out a wall of text about the hatred against privates, but people will think what they want so meh my /rant is over Would have been earlier but I was feeling poorly so I went to sleep early. On to the game. I dunno I just feel that GC was so focused on Mr Rogers (lol I just realised what that sounds like) and felt like he was our teams only weapon. He served a great distraction since giles kept him doubled up when it really counted. Ironically looking back at the stats they were flip flopped and he had less yardage than the tailback which I found amusing, since I know him rather well. The mustangs turned into a hydra-headed monster for this game I guess, since they had so many other people step up to make plays, like Lehning, Webb and Holtzer. Heck I suppose even Officer (insert funny comment about william officer here!) stepped up and did a little work to help the mustangs get it done. I mean I don't think I would have wanted anyone else in the state kicking that extra point, you know? meh, I kinda feel that Tobias doesn't get the credit he deserves, maybe that's cause I have a soft spot in my heart for the kids that put it on the line running the ball around.
  2. I fixed it, you squeezed yours in like a second before I hit reply so no I didn't see your post ^__^ (site messed with my smiley >.<) what do I consider poor? I consider working 80 hours a week and still barely making ends meet poor. no I don't teach drama at lipscomb, although I'd love it if I did. I feel our drama and musical departments are woefully lacking, but meh, the academics are good, you can't have everything. -edited for spelling errors Anyway, what was up with the GC buses last night. Saw them pulled up on the side of the road on Harding place right before the interstate entrance. No one was having car trouble were they?
  3. ah you did respond. double post less. you made me have to edit mine. don't try to make this something its not. You said there are no poor kids on the team. I proved you wrong. Your statement was false, don't try to quantify it now after the fact. Given an example you try to change gears and make it something else. I gave you a child that meets all your criteria, all those things that you said lipscomb doesn't have and you want to answer with a "well, but...." basically. Seriously I think you just want to think the worst of the school so be it, You weren't worth telling their story to. It demeans it. I'm sorry I shared it because you belittle it. I could have told you so much more about that family, but you aren't worthy of hearing it because you don't respect it because of where they've come from (DL). I don't know about the kids at your school, maybe you should be helping these kids that don't have anyone to help them, isn't that the good christian thing to do? I mean if I knew of someone in my immediate community that I could help with the skills I have I'd do it in a heartbeat. You say we don't do anything, but it sounds like you aren't doing anything either except criticizing private schools. I know I don't tell of the good deeds I've done. that's between me and God. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean its not being done, you know?
  4. Yes much to your dismay poor people do play football at Lipscomb. I can't see how its any of your business, but just to prove you wrong, yes there is a player on the DL team that lived with his grandmother. She died when he was 8. He lives with his sister now, who's been taking care of him and keeping him in DL since she was 18, because they have no other family. The DL community respects what she has done. He is a minority student. She went to school at the DL herself, on Financial Aid and did not play athletics since she wasn't into sports and preferred books. Her brother had a learning disability during his younger years at the school, but they worked everyday after school for 3-4 hours to help him catch up and get to where he needed to be. The family receives no help, They'd probably be too self-reliant to take it anyway. So as much as you'd like to see otherwise your points are flawed and she's probably laughing as she's reading this and what you've said since you have no idea. So don't presume to tell me who and what kind of people go to lipscomb because you have no idea.
  5. I'm sorry I really do have to laugh about this. And you'd never ever EVER have any idea why! The sheer IRONY of it amuses me. I'm perhaps the only person from DL that could throw this post back in your face, but I never would. You truly have NO idea about some of the students that attend this school. This post just makes me smile and anyone that knows certain kids on this DL team would know why.
  6. while I'm sure you love to pick the bad and ignore the good.... I will bring up this point as I wonder how many of your fans actually saw it. Did you notice How at least two of the DL players actually stayed on the field to console the GC kids. You always rag on DL for being classless and poor sports, but I know for a fact that those two boys bent down on their knees and rubbed backs and patted helmets. THAT was a class act. They did not celebrate. They offered comfort. Just something for you to think about while harshing on the DL "sweet spirit"
  7. this song and dance gets old after a while you know. Most of the mustang starters have been there since middle school. some of them have been there since elementary school. at least one of their starters has been there since pre-kindergarten so he was like 3 . what do you think DL does? recruit them from the womb? So you may call me a liar, but I'll call you a poor misinformed ostrich with his/her head buried in the sand and totally out of touch with the reality of exactly what Lipscomb does. Oh please! do you think we don't have rebuilding years? do you think anyone thought we'd be as good as we are? considering we lost our whole backfield sans quarterback (the one that's from Tennessee not Fla OR Texas and is a 3 year starter or close to it?)? We had seniors and underclass man that stepped up to play in different positions to help recoup from that massive loss. If anyone needs to buzz off its you until you get yourself a little more education about what that school does with its program. At any rate I still think Giles played a heck of a game! The thing that impressed me most wasn't actually in the game but afterward. Bo is something special but so is Tobias >.> He gets mad props from me.
  8. wow what game were you watching? Oo Gj to the giles county team, you played a great game.
  9. Once again, spinning what I've said to fit your twisted agenda. =/ Did I ONCE say that there are no Christians in public schools? find it I'll eat a ballcap! Did I say there is no Religious or Christian foundation in public schools? Yes, anytime a child is discriminated against in the times he can worship on the property with his friends then I would consider that a bit of a hostile spiritual environment. It not about the fact that they're no Christ there. There's no God of any sort. There are no "teachings of (insert your god here)" there is only science, mathematics, and languages. They don't go there. Do the people that send their kids to Lipscomb have a drive to do it? Yes why else would they be there? Did I say that people have no drive in public school? No! But I think the 800+ people that send their kids to Lipscomb are driven to do so for a reason (what that reason is I can't say for everyone. I know what ours is). No one pays for anything without a reason. Are you implying that they're too stupid to realize the school costs money and that there is a free alternative? Now who's being a jerk? Does it cost 8k+ to send kids to Lipscomb? Yes, and I'm saying that its possible to scrimp and save to do it and that SOME of us have to do just that! I know I do. You alluded to the price being to high and excluding people, well it just isn't true. Our family is dirt poor(literally) but we go out of the way and do without to make sure that the child we send there can go there. You have NO idea how hard it is, but we get it done, because its a worthwhile goal. Much to my chagrin and the misinformation of the general populous NOT everyone at Lipscomb is born with a silver spoon in their mouth. If so, someone stole mine and I'd like it back please. Maybe I could sell it to get some extra cash! I have a friend that's like you. He likes to fight for fighting's sake. =/ until next time you decide to pick apart my post for the "hanging chad," -DP As for the game calling It did seem one sided so I'll have to agree to disagree with you there. Maybe the mustangs had a mental meltdown, but some of those calls were kind of meh... Anyway It was a great football night I thought MC might pull it out going into half time the way the mustangs were having the yellow hankies thrown at them for everything under the sun. Wonder what practice will be like for them after that =/ kinda feel sorry for them for it. Jeez if MC doesn't have a track team they really do need one, that one kid can RUN. I never thought he'd catch Officer, but he really stepped up to possibly save that score there! I'm sure he's not the only one that can book it too. IF MC doesn't is there a reason why? or does the school just prefer not to have T & F?
  10. Nope! I'll be there with bells on. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Hopefully early so I can eat before we meet. just from a purely from a semantic view, and this will sound snide, but w/e everyone already thinks I'm a jerk so no big diff... How can you have a Christian school without Christ? /shrug
  11. the caps were for stressing words that I felt were important. Its hard to convey inflection on the internet, hence the capitalized words. I'll be sure to look you up, maybe we can discuss the finer points of my posts, which you seem to have such hatred for. I've been on the board for 4 years I just never post got around to making an account last year and forgot it AND the email it was connected to so I had to make a new one (mainly because I was too lazy to enter all 8 billion email addresses I have ). I like lurking since I tend to love reading more than writing. I'll see if I can find you Friday, okay? I'm not condescending, I was merely stating that if I was going to troll I'd troll HARD. Wear something else like a pin along with that hat or something so I can find you, otherwise it will be too hard for me unless you're the only one in a hat like that up there. I don't want to start talking to a random guy in the pressbox and think its you and have them go "huh?" cause he doesn't know what the heck I'm talking about, although that would be terribly funny! I'm sorry if you think I'm condescending I was being blunt, I'm like that you'll see. You seemed to have no problem telling me what you though so why can't I do the same? I was defending myself. If you feel like I was being superior then I apologize for seeming that way, but I wasn't attempting to. I Can't genuflect on the internet like I do irl, you know? so the caps and exclamation points have to do what my hands normally would! the shoo was as in "leave me be that's not what I meant." not a "get out" shoo lol. I forget things mean differently to different people sometimes. My friends and I say that to each other all the time, so I guess I was just treating you like I would them, in the joking manner =/ shows I shouldn't be so relaxed in my mannerisms online to people I don't "know." But yeah lets hook up at the game, I'd like to actually have a conversation with you about the program, how its changed, what you think of our move next year, and what it was like in the olden days (not saying you're old, just want to head that one off at the pass since you seem to think I'm insulting). You probably remember Burton Gym and everything from before the building was redone. I love talking to the old timers about what the school used to be like, even from before my time! Looking forward to meeting you on Thursday!
  12. I don't recall directing my post towards you, unless you're ahapplet? and if you're blind enough to miss the giles county player that totally was way out of line at the near end of the game then you've got rose tinted glasses on. And I don't know why but your post made me once again laugh in pity because as I've said before you have no idea what Lipscomb is about. I think it's hypocritical for you to preach tolerance then not tolerate Lipscomb in D1. I think its GROSSLY wrong of you to twist what I've said. I NEVER ONCE said that public school students are underachievers. it was implied that Lipscomb only takes the best and the brightest. That sir, simply isn't true. There ARE kids at Lipscomb that have learning disabilities who are poor and underprivileged. Lipscomb helps them achieve full potential. THAT good sir, is what I said. What are you running for president? you're one heck of a spin doctor to turn what I said into a miasma of insulting and derogatory terms that wasn't meant at all. Go back and read what I said. I stand by the statement there is NEVER a reason to underachieve. EVERYONE should strive to be the best they can be. NO one should be excused for NOT living up to their potential.
  13. Those that have a drive for their kids to go to school in a warm loving environment make sure it happens (by paying for it or financial aid). You know nothing about Lipscomb or its environment, please stop posting drivel about the school and its mission. It's sad that you feel the need to spread slander about a great program and even more wonderful people. When public schools decide that God has a place amongst their students then they can be christian schools until then a school that has a foundation in the worship of Christ, the following of his teachings to the fundamental level, and the drive to send young men and women out into the world with a solid spiritual faith and self confidence in their own abilities, Lipscomb and other "christian" private schools will continue to be the place where people choose to send their children. Funny thing about a Christian school You have to have Christ in there somewhere, don't you? that's what it comes down to. No GOD no CHRISTIAN school. IT's not about money dude, it's about Faith.
  14. Great game! personally glad we didn't get rained on. GL MC in your fight against Giles next week! Hope you have a safe journey and an injury free game!
  15. I can only go by my interpretation of what is posted. IF you Feel I was being antagonizing then I apologize for seeming that way as it was not my intent. I did feel a calling to post what I said because it IS a problem and like you said no one can deny that. It's for all teams out there. not just Giles OR Lipscomb. There was no disrespect meant at all. I wasn't judging you, merely calling attention to what I feel is a problem in today's sports society as a whole. Because unlike your child I feel a lot of these kids DON'T get that needed correction! Not everyone is as loving or considerate to their child as you seem to be and that's a problem, but its too late in the night to get on that soap box again. Peace to you and know that I bear you no judgments and no ill will! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'm not fit to judge anything, but a problem is a problem. I dunno where you got I was implying only one or two teams do it. I was addressing the sport as a whole, heck all the sports unfortunately have gotten very bad. I blame the pros, but what can you do? they get paid to entertain so I guess they better be entertaining. /shrug @ dlhs3551 don't assume I was antagonizing anyone. If I wanted to troll, you can bet I'd have done it 9000 times better than that! When I set out to antagonize you'll know it. until then /shoo.
