  1. Actually, what you hope for is that the umpire behind the plate is consistent from the first pitch to the last. It's up to players and coaches to adjust. What is unfair is a strike zone that moves from inning to inning or pitch to pitch. Thankfully I don't see it that bad around here. I don't like some guys strike zone but as long as they stay consistent there's really nothing to grip about. This is where the talk of umps favoring one team. Saw a guy in Florida a couple weeks ago weaving like a DUI. I thought here we go, came all this way to get hose so bad the host team's parents look embarrassed. Then all of a sudden his calls start favoring us . . . some genuinely horrible ball-strike calls. THANKFULLY we don't see that much at all. Another guy down there had an incredibly tight strike zone but he was very consistent all 8 innings. Can't gripe about that. At least he was fair.
  2. Must be nice. Do those kids ever go to class?
  3. The Commercial Appeal's Dandy Dozen is strictly based on a (some) staffer(s)'s opinion based on coaches comments, records, and is geared to sell more papers.

Look like nobody can quite take control, eh????
  5. I do too. It's baseball and unlike football or basketball, anything can happen. I said your kids played well and they are certainly better than the last two teams Westview has fielded. Look to be headed in a positive direction. But you act like you're the kings of west tennessee and you just haven't proven it yet. We certainly haven't and I don't think anybody from Dyersburg has tried to claim that. We can't claim anything until we beat DC for district tourney title. I'm certainly not going to cut them and say we're better. We might beat them we might not. That has nothing to do with Westview. You can't logically say Westview has arrived . . . not yet anyway. If you split with DC or beat them twice (and I don't see that happening), you can legitimately crow and crow loud. Anyone ever tell you your timing is bad? You need to learn WHEN to crow!
  6. You don't get it, do you slugger?
  7. We walked too many. That's it. I never said we are the best team since sliced bread. You are the one saying Westview is greatness personafied. Just haven't proved it yet and you have no basis to crow yet. You MAY later . . . but not now. You obviously don't remember getting whipped by Dyersburg last year when we were making outs on purpose to get the game over. You gotta have a some proven record before you start bragging. DC is waiting for you.
  8. A fluke????? Get real. You have no idea what you are talking about. When was the last time Westview beat Dyersburg? It might happen later this season, but until that happens you can't call Dyersburg beating Westview a fluke. Until Westview estblishes a respectable track record against quality teams, Charger fans ought not call the team that has beaten them 17-1 recently a fluke. Westview get a grip. Beating Dresden and Camden doesn't make you a power. Sweeping Milan is interesting for sure, but it doesn't establish you as the power you think you are. This isn't girls basketball or cheerleading.
  9. You are right! Dyersburg should just forfeit all games to Dyer Co. . . . Wait you're the guy who bragged that Westview is the new power in 13AA. Hmmm. That speaks for itself. You lost twice to Dyersburg, haven't played DC yet and haven't faced Trey Tate from Gibson County.
  10. I'll say this . . . Westview did play good defense on some hard hit balls throughout the game and the pitcher (slinger) kept Dyersburg in check for the most part. He has an unusual arm angle and it seemed to give some Trojan hitters a little trouble.
  11. I believe your explanation has a lot of merit. Not sure how to address the issues there.
  12. Whoever is no. 1 in the rotation will pitch tuesday at westview, no. 2 in the rotation will pitch next game, no. 3 in the rotation will start the next game and so on. Not a lot of mystery to it.

    Cascade

If Cascade would play up to its full potential . . . (Please, too many people mistakenly think the drivel spoken by TV news people is proper American English).
  14. Optic orange balls . . . what's a little snow.

Was it the bats or the opposing pitcher? Granted, it's hard to tell sometimes.
  16. God Bless you for the impossible work you do. However, it's the system and the decay of society that are causing many of the problems you face. In the meantime, kids that need to be challenged to be all they can be academically are sitting in class bored to tears. I don't blame most of the teachers (though my son has one who needs to teach math like I need to be a neurosurgeon), it's the politicians and liberals who want to water everything down so that our kids are falling behind the rest of the developed world's young people.
  17. Let me correct you about something Beavo. The TSSAA did not prove he has done nothing wrong. The TSSAA found no evidence of wrong doing. Maybe he has done something maybe he hasn't. I have no idea and don't care. But the TSSAA is not in the business of proving somebody is innocent . . . only that there is no evidence of wrong doing. You need to be sure of what you are talking about before you go calling people idiots. They may be idiots . . . but the TSSAA has found no evidence that they are idiots. Get it?
  18. Wow. Didn't even see that coming. That could be the best thing you've ever said, written or typed!!!!
  19. It would appear that Arlington has made some real strides in a relatively short amount of time. Am I correct?
  20. Milan is the host school this year. When Westview hosted it was held at their choice at the Greyhounds' facility in Union City. Dyersburg hosted last year.
  21. This is an unusual spring for everybody in terms of rain outs and if the long range forecasts are right it won't get much better for a couple weeks. However, this is unique. Let's not knee-jerk based on one year. Yes there are always some pretty darn cold games early in the season. I'm just afraid if we dive in we'll get a result we hadn't aniticipated that will further harm the sport. I certainly don't want a shorter season of a lower cap on the number of games.
  22. I can't imagine any coach in the district or any team being dumb enough to take anybody for granted. Just look at what's happened in the dist. tourney the past 3 or 4 years. "Upsets" galore . . . if you can call such a thing in baseball an upset. Baseball is different than other sports in that regard.
  23. Heading into Monday's game, Dyersburg's two losses were each by one run to decent teams in Florida. However, with the players suspended for a duration not made public, who knows what Collierville will see. The 3 players in questions had been playing well but made a mistake concerning observance of team rules.
  24. You obviously took the comment seriously . . . why? I didn't make it seriously!
