  1. Maj nailed it on the head. The principled position takedown speaks of is of a faulty base. His and his parents principles blew his chance at a state title. The sad thing is that this kid will look back on this years from now and want to kick himself in the arse.
  2. Placing the top eight would only make sense if Division 1 and Division 2 were to be combined.
  3. The arena in Chattanooga no doubt had a much better feel to it than the Williamson County arena. The spacing at the ag center is terrible and more than likely not fixable. It will continue to be too spread out in that center. It needs to be in a comparable setting as the one in Chattanooga. I am sure MTSU has an option or two but the logistics for that are far from in place. MTSU would still offer a centralize location for the tournament. I agree with the previous poster about it being a rotating tourney, but that would have to be a logistical nightmare as well.
  4. I think that most of you might want to consider growing up. If this mikescott fella is as bad as you are all making him out to be, then simply put him on your ignore list. I suspect, however, that most of you enjoy the "drama" and relish the back and forth, child-like banter. While I think the user mikescott is simply ruffling the feathers and being an internet "troll," I simply choose to not give him exactly what he clearly seems to be after; my attention.
  5. What dangerous game might that be?
  6. Michael Kennedy is picked to win it.
  7. The Open Mat (TOM) has become one of the best wrestling websites pumping out tons of original articles and analysis from high school to the international scene and everything in between. This is their preview for the Super 32. Tennessee gets quite a bit of recognition. Super 32 Preview A teaser quote from the opening of the article.
  8. It's called a Spladle, not a "split-legged vertical cradle." From the looks of it, the call could have gone either way as far as the pin is concerned. I would venture to say in a situation like that that the offensive wrestler should get the nod because he initiated the exposure of his opponents back. That was a tough one for any ref to have to call. Regardless, he earned the crown of Region 6 125lb champ.
  9. asiatic2412 - daytime6 - A bit over the top and misleading there folks. Independence did come in as the team to beat at the beginning of this season for Region 6. They had a good season the year before (not what they wanted but good nevertheless). So naturally it made sense that they would be "top dog" coming in to the new season in the region. They came in as the team to beat and beat they were, by three region 6 teams no less (among others). Overrated may be a stretch, but they clearly have some things to work out to rise to the top of the heap. 'Overrated for a while' I find a baffling comment. Last season they were darn good. They did make it to the semi-finals of the state duals losing to Bradley in a close match (although Bradley did forfeit two or three weights at the end if memory serves me correctly). After that loss they went on to not place losing to a tough Clarksville team. They wound up taking top five in the individual state tourney. Neither of those performances are anything to be frowned upon. I'm sure the coaching staff and wrestlers were, and still are, not too thrilled about the keyboard warriors on here declaring war in the name of Independence wrestling. Do not fault them for the misspeak of others. If anything, judging from this year's results, Independence is a stronger tournament team than dual team. They had a top three finish at Bradley and their Holiday Tournament. They were the highest placing Division 1 team at the Ryan Tournament (the Division 2 teams were superior). They are obviously young and lacking the depth that they had a season ago. Congratulation to Brentwood on a solid win.

  11. I don't doubt that for a second and I agree, the kid is a stud. I was just curious if anyone here saw the match, I'd like to know how he looked.

Mike Miller, the nation’s top-ranked 174-pounder, opened his season with a 3-1 decision over Chattanooga’s Jake Young. Miller and Young traded escapes before Miller scored the decisive takedown in the third period. Redshirt freshman Ben Bennett earned his first career victory at 184 pounds, claiming a 5-4 decision over UTC’s Jason McCroskey.
