  1. First off I'm talking about High School, and I want everyone to know that I am not trying to trash any refs. I am simply commenting on the inconsistancy from one area of refs to another. Because we play in several different areas we experience lots of different "interpretations" of the rules. However, I have read the Rule Book several times and I know for a fact that when the bench clears to come on the field for a dogpile it is against the rules, faking an injury to get a sub (the player was just tired, so the coach yelled "take a knee" and the ref stopped the game for the player to jog off the field) is against the rules, and the Rule Book states clearly that the home team is to supply ball handlers. All that being said, we all sould be thankful that there are so many men and women willing to take the time to ref, because if they didn't we couldn't play the game. On a side note, a great ref, good friend, and real supporter of soccer, Steve Essler, past away last week and he will be greatly missed.
  2. I always tell My team that "if we play perfect the refs won't Matter, So don't expect the refs to be perfect." however I am surprised how the rules change based on where you play. For example we played at Oakland the other day and players Came on the field after a goal for a dog pile, a player took a knee to get a Sub, and there were no ball handlers required even though the ball would go across the track and take 25 seconds to be brought back into play. (Not to mention the megaphone equiped with Siren used to yell unmentionables at our players)These things didn't affect the game, but they would have never been allowed by our refs. As a coach we just want to play by the rules.
  3. Congrats on the win. DeKalb tied Stone Memorial 2-2. We were up 2-0 with like 12 minutes left and took our foot of the gas and they scored 2 goals in like 2 minutes. Credit to Stone Memorial for never giving up. April 27th is going to be big!!!
  4. Unfortunately, I think it will turn into another way for private schools and big soccer programs to unofficially recruit. A good player can now go to "home school" and get a bogus address to play anywhere they want.
  5. We are taking 70 to the game tonight. Great weather. Expecting to have alot of fun.
  6. A ten man bunker sure makes the game boring too. We didn't play hard and the seconds got alot of time.
  7. I meant no disrespect to Station Camp. I was just surprised to see those results, and hopeful that we will have a chance to go to the next level this season, but as I said, its still very early in the season.
  8. We play Warren Co. 3/31 at home, should be a good match. Have you seen that Station Camp got beat by Notre Dame and tied McMinn Co.(0-4-1), and Portland only beat Macon by one. Looks like District 7 might be able to take the region? Still early though. We're looking forward to playing you too.
  9. What happened to SC vs Notre Dame?
  10. Thanks hogeye0903. By the way we beat York 9-3, but they are actually a lot better than last year. The score was just lopsided becase they gave up once we got ahead and we had some sophmores score late.
  11. DeKalb plays York 3/19. Beat White Co. and Rhea Co., Tied Sequatichie Co., and lost to Lebanon in preseason. We are very young and not very deep. We lost 9 players from last season. When is the Livingston vs Cannon game going to be made up?
  12. Cannon Co. DeKalb Co. Jackson Co. Livingston Academy Smith Co. York Institute Any Predictions?
  13. I don't think the private school directly recruit, but if you are a good soccer player and live in an area that has a private school with a great soccer program such as CAK, why would you go anywhere else. For example, look at the entire Chatt. area. Where are the great soccer players going? Chatt. Christian or Notre Dame. Thay don't have to be recuited.
  14. Sorry for the indirect attack, I have a great deal of respect for Station Camp. They do have a very successful program and good coaches on both the boys and girls sides. We have been frustrated getting to the Region repeatedly to face a school 400 students (1.5 times larger) bigger than us, but that's life. We were excited to see Station Camp and Portland moving up only to find our region changed to include Notre Dame and Chatt. Christian. Once again that's life, and we will keep working to get better and eventually be a state contender.
  15. Station camp does have a really good team even for a school with 1200 students playing in A/AA. Atleast there will be one public school in the state playoffs.
  16. A-AA Girls Soccer State Tournament 8 teams, 6 private, 2 public and both public schools are over the limit for A-AA, now moved to AAA There is no question that something is wrong with the system. Why don't the private schools go to D2?
