Deadaim--that's pretty harsh...great coaching staff, they work the kids very hard, and I think are poised for a great year next year. Most of the key players return, except for J Pittman and A Annor
  2. BA's football program continues it's fall. They don't know how to win, and close deal.
  3. You're right, it was '11 against Baylor. The McCallie fact is not accurate per the Times Free Press article on the game last year: "The teams traded scores throughout the first half. Tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter, Brentwood Academy scored with 30 seconds left in the half to make it 35-28, so both teams could catch their breath at intermission. Coming out, BA scored 14 in the third quarter to put some distance between the teams. McCallie fought on and scored a touchdown with 2:26 remaining in the fourth to cut the lead to 56-42, but time was not on its side. BA finished off the game's scoring with a TD as the game rolled to a close. Usman scored three touchdowns, while Trotter accounted for two."
  4. Wes, the early season loss is not the issue. Outside of Baylor in 2012, to the best of my knowledge, BA has not had a come from behind win in ___________--you fill in the blank. Great programs (and I still consider BA one) find a way to get it done in the big games, or when the deck is stacked against them. BA seems to fold more times than not in recent memory when the game's on the line. Last year's semi-final game comes to mind. Ensworth from 2010 (up 19-3 deep in 3rd) and lose on games final play is another. My thoughts are just a general "gut" feeling and probably written out of frustration, but I stand by them.
  5. So true--further proof that the culture of BA football continues to languish. As much, if not more talent than anyone they play. The program will win 7-8 games a yr on talent alone, but the days of BA whipping teams of equal or greater talent have past them by--something's missing. I don't know why that's the case, it's just this fan's opinion.
  6. For the record, C Flatt was an asst coach at Eagleville for 2 years I believe before dropping down and coaching their MS team for a year. He was never head coach.
  7. I'm a UT fan, and a BA fan, and this is a classless post.
  8. Well, if so, the head coach should have instructed his QB to take a knee. That's an example of sportsmanship. By calling a pass play, sounds like Coach Bowers was complicit with the call of the timeout. A coach with Bowers experience would do that, one would think, sort of a reflex thing to do.
  9. Ensworth called a timeout first for the record.
  10. Meritage, very nice of you to share this perspective. Leadership is The most important thing to an organization (team's) success. BA has it now. Curt went out on a limb to hire Coach White, for many lobbied for another very high quality coach who would have done an excellent job, who went deep into the interview process. Cody's record in 2010 and 2011 at Denison worked against him in the eyes of many (me included). However, while the other coach would have done well I'm sure, I just can't imagine a better hire for BA than Coach White. Lastly, I'm sure you know this, for you are certainly "in the know" regarding all things BA--but Cody has had a huge impact on other sports as well as AD. Kudos to Curt Masters for a great hire.
  11. You are welcome. Coach White is a great man who has quickly made a mark at BA.

  13. I think this post is preposterous. The idea that Coach Bowers "deep down" wants to lose? You should ask him that! Also, I hope a BA fan gets to the "new BA coach" to alert him of how hard it is to beat a team twice. Maybe it would be better that the staff focus on McCallie, since it would be to his advantage to lose since its so hard to beat a team twice--assuming the two teams may meet again in the playoffs. Since Coach White has only coached for about 20 years, I'm sure you're right, he's not aware of the adage that its hard to beat a team twice. I predict a 0-0 tie.
