  1. Well said Coach17 and it seems to look like takeittothehole knows what he/she is talking about. It does seem that the younger players are bailing out the veterans. As a armchair coach, who would be your pick(sensitive subject) just out of curiosity. If you want, I posted and got some negative feedback. Not intended to offend, but I think you see what others see and don't say.
  2. Not hideing behind anything, the post is out there for everyone to read. Sorry that you"Surge" and Falconfan84 were offended. Surge you don't know me and I don't know you. All I know is "Surge" honestly all the way. My apology in advance for next post.
  3. Well here we go, I guess? Coach Meyers has had a chance to be with his new team of LADY VOLUNTEERS. What does he think after leaveing Va.? Does he have them ready to play on Friday night? Offense (check), Defense (check), starters (????). My pick: 1: McFarland (point-guard)- Moves the ball quickly, not selfish, and has varsity level experience. from what i hear. 2: Porter (shooting-guard)- Very fast, can shoot the long ball, against a zone defense, and has varsity level exp. 3: Price (guard)- Handles pressure good, can shoot the long ball as well, could have a great game, it's all up to her. 4: Lindholm (guard)-Quick and never say die attitude. Good learner and makes things happen. Watch the turnovers. 5: Walker (Center) I think that's her last name. Clean up the boards! You will know when it's your time to shoot. Try running there legs off with the fast -break in the open court. If you have to run off screens to breakdown the middle and get inside of the paint for a quick jumpshot, because of the zone defense ( You probably will see first before they man up), set your pix hard and let them know that you are here to play. KEEP THE BALL MOVING,YOUR GUARNTEED A EASY BASKET!!! Switch it up when they do start to play man-2-man and start feeding it inside: 1: Huddle (point-guard)- Great passer, breaksdown 1-on-1 defense, and can get it inside. Work on that defense. 2: Porter/alternate Anderson (Shooting guard)-When you need a 3 to bring you back or keep you futher ahead. watch your passes. 3: Odell/alternate Adkins( Forward) Both physically strong and can be of force on the offensive/defensive boards. 4: Walker (Small Forward) Post up underneath and let them feed you(your turn to shoot). Clean up the boards strong 5: Gilliam (Power Forward) Great player, good moves to the basket, will bring her "A" game for this season. Try going with the height advantage, see if it plays to your favor. First look off each pass is to the inside player posted on the blocks. Who ever starts, it's not when you play. It's what you contribute when you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK AND GO LADY FALCONS!!!
  4. Do you know where they are playing HOME or away? Is Sullivan North a contender? I heard that Unicoi had some really big girls in the front court, maybe last year. They must have graduted or transferred like you were saying.
  5. What a shame, but probably wanted to graduate with his friends and teammates. Good for his parents for supporting him and respecting his wishes. I'm sure Coach Morgan will have the two ready to fill the spot. What BIG shoes to feel.
  6. No,just a new comer. Read the local papers alot, catch a game when i can and love to watch and play basketball. On the outside looking in (OUTKAST). I always favor the underdogs for some reason, strange. I see what you mean now because you mentioned that is what parents expect. They have to stay out of the coaches ear and be more supportive of the player (there kid) and the playerS (everyone else that is apart of that team). It seems like more than a touchy situation. Coach Myers doesn't look easily influenced, especially with that record of his in Va. So lets everyone leave him alone and let him do his job. Doesn't He have to be chosen by a panel? Maybe he is the right man for the job, Hawkins Co. give him a chance. So you think the younger kids would give the veterans a run for their money? It's possible and has happened. I hope they find the right combination quickly. Never take the love of basketball out of a good players heart by letting them ride the pine. Mix it up a little ,see what works It couldn't hurt, but don't force it then it hurts you.
  7. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF JAMEL IS BEING LOOKED AT BY A DIVISION I SCHOOL. THE KID IS AWSOME,WHAT A PLAYER HAVE NOT SEEN A BALL HANDLER THAT GOOD SINCE CHRIS WILSON, WHICH PLAYED FOR UNAKA HIGH BACK IN THE LATE 1990'S.
  8. What 5-6 varsity players do you speak of? I only seen 3. D.B. always looks like the team to beat in there conference then goes outside of conference and gets beat, boys and girls. Great athletes though were ever they are from.
  9. it don't have to be another long hard season. Myers is a great coach, his record in Va. proves that, from what i understand. He has a new team of girls that have to adapt to his way of coaching. Your right he is playing with Coach Anderson last years starting 3(Price,Porter,and Gilliam). Bledsoe graduates and Drane is out with medical issues.WHo deserves to go on the floor with these veterans? McFarland or Huddle that can weave through traffic at point and can actually use the other hand, you know the left-hand dribble. Linholm with a big heart for the game and big lungs that can carry herself the extra mile when everyone else is tired and bent over. Odell still young and still can be coached or the new girl where is she from? Great vision in the paint can work on defense more but can't we all. Anderson ,free her up and let her shoot the long ball. O.k. i'm tired, you guessed it none of them, veterans included. New coach, new season, and new set of 5 starters. YOu can have some of the same but show me how much you want it. Don't expect it cause you played varsity last year or the year before that. show me something you did in the off season to make you better than the next girl wanting to play your spot. IF YOU ASK NOTHING OF ME, YOU GET NOTHING FROM ME! Coach Myers gets some of what Coach Anderson had last year. Coach Anderson has gotten what the rec league and middle schools have gave him. Could that be the problem? Not to offend, but the feeder programs need to get more involved with these high schools in Hawkins Co. to groom the upcoming players for the next level. I don't think that is happening. Why couldn't you ask the high school varsity coach what they need to learn before getting to his level? Other schools do it. It's not lack of interest ,cause the stands at Volunteer are full, but don't let it be for the wrong reasons like to see D.B. to play our LADY VOLUNTEER FALCONS.
