  1. Yeah lets not get ahead of ourselves "Donthateappreciate." The irish have a great football team, a lot of athletes, but depth is a problem they have to deal with and most people don't play both sides of the ball like they did back in 3A. There are still a lot of games to go and I'd say every game is a toss up with the exception of a few. I'd pick the Irish over any team in knoxville (and surrounding counties) don't get me wrong, but I do believe that they can lose any game if they don't bring it all to the table. ANYWAYS, about this friday. I think the departure of meadows did bring some pretty heavy emotions at first. Everyone from WB was mad of course. I think that will add a little motivation, but no more than would come from wanting to beat catholic. I don't know much about William Blount. Anyone tell me anything? Govman? I've been dying to hear from you.
  2. Another potential blow for the patriots? I've heard Stephen Jenkins on the OL might be out for a while or having to play injured? I was told torn labrum in the shoulder and surgery would have to come after the season. But regardless, injuries on the OL are not what Jeff needs, they seem to be one of the weaker links of the team- losing 2nd all conference tackle is not what they need to have happen. Hopefully he can go the rest of the year.
  3. Jeff needs to get serious in the weight room and conditioning. They look a lot smaller than a lot of the competition they face. Thats just aside from the other issues I've mentioned multiple times. We'll be waiting for you WB
  4. Both teams are coming off wins of 2 and 3 points. Never played each other, yet both have played for the same coach. Should be an interesting game. Govman? Tpoole? I haven't heard from you all since the Meadows incident. Hows it going in gov land?
  5. I agree with donthateappreciate AND powersweep (even though I'm a little biased) Catholic has one of the best lines in the state and to say that AE is THAT much more athletic than catholic is not the case. Catholic has had their way with AE for the past few years and I see more of that happening on friday
  6. Please turtle? I think you owe me for my attempts to defend Roadrunner baseball last spring Anyways, I'm calling for you over there!
  7. Whats AE look like this year? I watched them a little in the jamboree, but didn't get much from there. Halls defense held them in check, but they are as athletic as every year.Turtle?
  8. It's as simple as this. This is from someone as un-biased as they come. I have gone to two out of 3 games this season and I'm related to a starter who keeps me updated. I have seen a lot of the good, the bad, and the ugly. It comes down to 4 things. Ball security. 6 or 7 turnovers nearly each game. 85% of the time you will not win when you turn the ball over that many times. Preventing the Big play. Devrin Young 54 yard TD run, Sevier Co.'s 2 or 3 long scoring runs/passes (failed coverage counted). Those have to be prevented. That's the only bone I have to pick with the defense. (I was especially impressed with Evan Kirkpatrick last game-just a little side note) Consistency. One drive the O marches right down the field and the next drive they cant compete with the defense and then somehow they get it back again. So inconsistent! If they can consistently move the ball and have the offense in sync, then more 1st downs, more yards, and more scores. Fan support is bad. They are bipolar (if you will) One great thing happens and they go crazy and are super supportive of their patriots, but let me tell you- when anything goes wrong, boy they will let you know it. They yell at the players and the coaches and they pick out individual players to yell out. (Ex. Brad Mason in the blown coverage- "You owe your team 6 points Brad!!!" just RIDICULOUS. This team is these 4 things away from going 7-3 opposed to who knows what? 5-5 or worse.
  9. This should be a good match up. Traditional game, great athletes, great band. What to look for friday?
  10. Come on over to the 5A board for this. I have the topic on there.
  11. Yes, thats very true friendzz- I probably jumped to a conclusion too quickly because it honestly could have been anyone else. Before the game, the farragut version of the CCC came over waving there flags and were trying to start things and cussing at everyone and rubbing the blue pain on our freshly painted guys. So that was annoying. I typically don't join the CCC just for reasons like that, so I was out of all the "drama." But after the game, several fans were trying to start things from earlier- mostly webb people and several farragut people, but the ones who came over at the beginning trying to do stuff were cool and said good game and all that. Some of the people though discovered their cars were keyed. I know of two that were, but thats all. It could have been anyone since we seem to have a lot of people that don't like us, but it was in the CCC "parking lot." Just unfortunate to see something like that at a high school football game.
  12. I talked to Adam today and he for sure tore his MCL. The MRI comes back sometime this week and we are praying for no other tears. If the ACL or any other ligaments are torn, surgery will be forth-coming. If the MCL is all that is torn, he will be back out in 6 weeks or so. And by the way it wasnt the same knee as last year. So pray for just the MCL! We need his presence on the field... He's a major defensive force for us. Anyways I was thinking about the game. In terms of yardage, it was a defensive failure by both- nearly 900 yards of overall offense! In terms of scoring, it was an offensive failure because only 32 points on the board for both. (failure might be a little strong, but you know what I mean) Exciting game, but I would really love to see these two play later in the season when they both are going full-force and firing on all cylinders. OH! and whats up with the farragut students keying Catholic's students cars? Ridiculous.
  13. Well hey, It was a great game by all. Just soooooo many missed opportunities. It kills to think about the possibilities. But that's football right? I thought there were a lot of missed calls for both sides, particularly clipping and holding. My bud T Will played a heck of a game. He and SMackle earned their scholarships tonight. In the early 4th quarter, I turned to the man beside me and told him, "these tv time outs are our saving grace" and boy was I right. They were incredibly worn out. Especially guys like Tyler, John Andrew McDermott, Zak Tait, and others who never come off the field. The admirals ran the ball very well. Van Dyne was good. That's all I can say. Disappointed in their passing game. I thought the Browning guy was going to be a real stud, but as you all say he is just fresh off his injury so I'll look for him later in the season. Is Catholic a "big boy" yet? As I walked into the stadium wearing the "white" from the white out, a kid from Karns or somewhere told me "Yall are gonna get yo teeth mashed in tonight boy" I feel like we did most of the hard hitting though. Anyways, close game- no complaining. That's football. I would love to see us really get that spread going (at least where we can score points) I do want to point out something that no one has mentioned so far, but hopefully Adam Casey is alright. He went out early with a knee injury and I hear talk of an ACL. So keep this kid in your prayers because it's going to be hard for him to have to sit and watch football the rest of his senior year. He loved the game. And Farragutuniversity... I dont even know what to say. You make this entire post a complete joke. Congratulations.
  14. "The farragut university"- you are a joke. Not even your own side likes you. AllVol- I don't know what to say about you. I mean it seems like you support catholic. haha FSUnoles- thank you for the preview, I appreciate hearing about the team. Hopefully a good year for the Noles too donthateappreciate- I think that is the biggest advantage for KC. They are fast. Everywhere, they are fast. And I assume the "Cofart kid" will have a good game. He looks great in the spread.
  15. Whoa! well let me have the honor of telling you all I was wrong. In fact, way wrong. But anyways, I'll take the 31 game streak. good luck thursday to all the players. Farragut has not seen a good defense thus far in my opinion. I think Catholic has some stuff up their sleeve they haven't shown yet. They've been saving it for games just like this. And the week of practice I'm sure has helped a little. No one try and tell us that Catholic has not been with the "big boys" yet. That stuff is a joke. They have played and they have won or come close. They have competed. It would be foolish to assume either will run away with this game. I doubt anyone forsees that. Anyways.... It's a no-tell situation when two teams who never play each other and are in different divisions play each other for the first time. So I might be shooting myself in the foot but.... Gotta give catholic the thumbs up with a 35-27 game. The biggest question in my mind is now which game I'm gonna go see on friday!
  16. well, as far as I know, the last road game loss was in 2002. I assume this includes playoffs, (hmm maybe we lost so many playoff games because they were all at home!! hmm....) But anyways, I would really like to officially see how many road wins in a row. probably high 40s or 50s. Maybe higher? just the word I heard.
  17. As of late, I would say overall, that Catholic is more inviting to colleges. They play against teams with athletes, they win and get exposure in the paper and so on, the coaches distribute highlight tapes to colleges if the athletes provide them, they make a big deal on media day, and I would have to say that they provide a better environment for high school football. Whats the word I'm looking for? hmm.... accommodating? As for the football program- the football program has been going since way back when.... They were pretty bad. They never had the coaches, the players, and quite honestly Catholic's tradition in high school sports is just starting. There was never much of an emphasis on sports as the schools were under charge of Bishops and such. With the move to West Knox in 2001, and feeder schools getting their act together, the hiring of the principal Mr. Dickie Sompyrac, and other numerous changes, the school has started to focus on athletics as well as academics. No longer so 1-dimensional. With these changes, athletes are being developed, coaches are coming to the school, the entire atmosphere of this high school's athletic establishment has changed. Now as for the Farragut-Catholic game. Keep in mind, Catholic is riding a 60-70 game road win streak and farragut has a 28 (i think) home win streak. 1 vs. 1. No one has said anything about farragut still.... so when i make my prediction tonight it will be entirely off what I know alone. (which isn't much) And yes... I'm sorry I forgot Browning. IrishBball and ScottA11 and Rigger, and all of you, if you have any corrections for me just tell me.
  18. Id have to say Rhea Co. was better than powell too. Oh shelia, the typical catholic hater. You are what makes these things so much fun
  19. I support your supportiveness (hmm????) towards these kids.
  20. OH BOY!!!!!!! IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME!!!! In my opinion, this is going to be the best new rivalry in knox. The two most hated schools playing each other. Number 1 vs. number 1 as some are saying. ScottA11, you did spice this thing up. Thanks. It's too big of a game to have less posts than a topic i saw about a freshman game with 40+ posts! The recruiting battle. I hate to say, that no matter how many public schools say it, Catholic will never say, believe, admit, or anything-that they recruit. (which they don't) At the same time, even if all 675 Catholic students got on here and said that they do not recruit at Catholic, the public schools would NEVER buy it. The argument will never get anywhere. As simple as that. Anyways, back on topic. Farragut vs. Catholic. Hmmm.... Can anyone tell me anything about farragut besides just Van Dyne, Purdy, and Allen?
  21. How do you get to sevier co. from Knoxville? and, tell me what sev co. is looking like? What are there pros and cons. I plan on attending.
  22. Does ANYONE know ANYTHING about David Allen?!? What happened? I haven't heard about this.
  23. yeah this is a joke... umm... so no one has anything to say about the game?
