  1. Franklin Kids; Michael Young 6'2 G Jamal Starnes 6'4 F (JUST GETTING IN FROM FOOTBALL) James Haddix 6'8 C (nice addition: avg 18pts 11 rebs)
  2. I don't think anybody is predicting a "state tourney birth"! First thing is first; WIN THE DISTRICT: WIN DISTRICT TOURNEY; FINISH TOP 2 AT REGIONS, and see what happens. Too much has to go right to predict a team is going to make it to state, so saying a team will not make it as (sleeper) likes to say is not a real big stretch. Sleeper will not be in the "crystal ball buisness" anytime soon! Michael Young and co. have some reinforcements coming: 6'4 F Jamaul Starnes and 6'3 G Reed Glover should be ready to go by this weekend! Starnes is a two time all district and returning all-region performer. Reed Glover can play anywhere on the court. Sixth man Austin Pace is also close to a return. Combine Starnes and Haddix (6'8) in the paint and you have a nasty combo. Should take the scoring pressure off Young and the other wings. Can't wait to see the Rebels at full strength. Franklin was 4-2 last year at this point and they still made the region semis and won close to 30 games, no one is "too worried" with a 4-2 start. They don't hand out district crowns in December.
  3. Welcome Back Rebels, The Franklin Rebels could get 2 starters back this week. ALL-Region forward Jamaul Starnes should be ready to go by the end of this week. Reed Glover is also expected back after suffering a sprained ankle. The Rebels will be pretty good inside with Starnes and Haddix roaming in the paint. Should be interesting to watch.
  4. I figured we'd see a post about Franklin being down. Let me share something with you. Franklin is still missing ALL-Region starter Jamal Starnes; he is playing in the football state championship today. Reed Glover hasn't touched the floor yet with an ankle injury. Most who have seen Franklin play know how valuble Glover and Starnes are. Also, Austin Pace, who was starting for Glover, has been out with an ankle injury as well. Therefore, you take away 3 players from any team (2 returning starters) and the sixth man and most teams will struggle. Franklin was 4-2 at this point last year, it worked out ok once district play started. On another note, M-Juliets PG missed those games they lost earlier, Jackson makes them a lot better, not many 6'0 guards catch ally's above the rim. That was impressive. Imagine Starnes and Haddiix in the same lineup! OH, Young had 17, Haddix 15
  5. Franklin Dominates McGavock 69-47: Could have been worse, but Jay Johson may be the classiest coach I have ever seen. He clears the bench pretty early and doesn't go "urban meyer" on people and run it up. Once again big man James Haddix was all over the place. The 6'8 C had 18pts 10rebs and 5 blks. Michael Young added his usual 16 pts. Sophomore Jake Little started because of another Franklin "ankle" injury to starter Austin Pace. He had 7, and sophomore Debrelle Mclemore had 11. He hit 3 threes. The surprise this week was seeing that Hillsboro beat Maplewood. Is D-11-AAA better than D-12AAA this year? The Rebels are now without Pace, Glover, and Starnes..... 4-1 is not too bad!
  6. Now your taking things the wrong way, have fun with it. Haddix is good, more like a loaf of bread, not sliced.

  8. The Franklin Rebels take the home court tonight against the Raiders. Franklin is still missing returning starters Reed Glover and ALL-Region forward Jamal Starnes. The inside play of 6'8 C James Haddix has been huge for coach Johnson and the Rebels staff. Michael Young has been a steady scorer but the all-around difference maker has been Daniel Miller-Mclemore. The 6'3 G is averaging close to a double double per contest (pts and rebs). This is always a fun matchup and sometimes there is a rematch at the region tourney.
  9. Temple is in Battle for the State, any info on schedule?
  10. Franklin will also host McGavock on Thursday Dec 4....
  11. District 11-AAA 1. Drew Kelly 6'6 F (CENT) 2. Arthur McMillian 6'4 F (HILLSBORO) 3. Michael Young 6'2 G (FRANKLIN) 4. Kyle Ticheman 6'4 F (BWOOD) 5. James Haddix 6'8 C (FRANKLIN) 6. Josh Tidwell 6'1 G (BWOOD) Other Notables.... Blake Carden (IND), Jamal Starnes (FRANKLIN), Daniel Miller-Mclemore (FRANKLIN), Richmond Watkins (RWOOD) Don't know much about Overton or Hillwod, sorry
  12. Predictable? There are also rumors of a brentwood kid transferring to CPA, I believe some more Franklin kids are lions now as well, not just in basketball. I know who Drew Maddux is, I saw him and Ron Mercer lose a tough state championship game to BGA during his high school days. I saw him play at Vandy. I don't need to be preached to about who Drew is. Awakened the Giant? I was just asking about a kid who transfered from Franklin's program to CPA's. I was expecting to see bigger numbers in the score book, sorry if that hurt your feelings. How were the refs at the Clarksville game? Heard people were not happy?
  13. No one is assuming Franklin makes substate, it's a tough road going up against Metro's finest. When you call Franklin a "bust", after a loss missing two key players, you sound like someone who knows nothing about basketball. Nobody has ever won a meaningful championship in late November.
  14. What are you TN Tradition? The coach's agent? Let it go, you lost a game shoudn't have. I thought the Zelnick kid was supposed to help a bunch once he got recruited away from Franklin?
  15. I wish the CPA fans would quit crying about last season. Give a little credit to Clarksville for beating CPA as well. Clarksville was waxed by Franklin and Beech, and then beat CPA, which everybody thought was a surprise. Ted Young at Calrksville is a very good coach.
  16. Playing Columbia on the road will only help the Rebels down the stretch. The Rebels still had a chance to win even thugh they played sub-par. Coach Johnson has got to be encouraged wih big man James Haddix. He's averaging 18pts and 12 rebs per contest. Franklin will gladly welcome all-region forwward Jamal Starnes back after football, and returning starter Reed Glover could be back on the floor this week. People jumping off the Rebel bandwagon are insane. This team has alot of pieces and will improve as the season moves along.
  17. The Good..... FRANKLIN 3-0: Some wondered after losing Kegarise to Oak Hill how would Franklin fill the void. Your answer is Peyton Henry + an inside game. With Henry at the point, Young is getting more shots, avergaing around 15 pts a game. Also, the patience on offense has led to points in the paint. 6'8 Big man James Haddix has got to be one of the most improved players in the state. Scoring, rebounding, and getting to the free throw line are becoming nice habits that Haddix has developed. Henry has been solid at the point, pushing the ball and setting the tempo on both ends. Henry, Miller-McLemore, and Pace are nasty on the defensive end. The "three ball" from Kegarise is missed, but Franklin has done a nice job adjusting with points inside and a smothering defense. Getting Starnes and Glover back will be NICE EARLY CHRISTMAS presents for coach Johnson and the Rebels. OVERTON: Nice early big wins, but a disappointing performance against Lipscomb leaves some scratching their heads? HILLSBORO: Can't bet against McMillian, he is a beast on the court. INDEPENDENCE: Eary wins have instilled confindence. Can they carry that to district play? HILLWOOD: Congrats to the Hilltoppers knocking off Jon Jenkins or (Station Camp) but really, just Jon Jenkins. The Bad.......... RAVENWOOD: How in the world do you only score 33 pts against Father Ryan? BRENTWOOD: Blowout loss to Beech combined with a loss to AA Marshal County doesn't seem encouraging heading into Thanksgiving. The Ugly........ Centennial: Struggled with Stratford, let BGA hang around, and blown out by Hunters Lane. That sums the cougars up. Not to mention only 2 guys are scoring threats, Kelly and Jensen.
  18. Franklin has a number of guys who can score. I had Young with 15, Miller-McLemore with 12, and James Haddix with 10. Sophomores Jake Little and Debrelle McLemore both had 8 points a piece. A few careless turnovers for Franklin were my only concern. The Rebels defend very well, that is the difference from this year to last year. However, free-throws are a concern. Remember, Franklin is still missing former starters Jamal Starnes and Reed Glover. Franklin is now (3-0) and heads to Columbia on Saturday.
  19. Young, Haddix, and Miller McLemore played some good ball tonight. Watch out for Jake Little, the kid will be a stud on the hardwood! Someone please post the stats when you can. Franklin looked very balanced tonight.
  20. it only shows the football schedule, will the basketball game be brroadcast tonight?
  21. As far as sophomores go, I'd say watch Jake Little and Debrelle Mclemore from Franklin. However, Franklin is so senior heavy, and they have a couple of juniors who play, playing time for sophomores may be limited. Franklin seems to be very deep, especially once they get Glover and Starnes back. Right now they go with.... Franklin (2-0) Starters *Young G SR *Miller-Mclemore G SR Henry PG SR Haddix C SR Pace G JR SUBS Nelson F JR Little G Soph McLemore PG Soph Lindsey F SR OUT *Glover (ankle) G SR *Starnes (football) F SR Kibler (football) G JR *full time starter last season
  22. Wow, the big man from Franklin (Haddix) can play, he had a MONSTER dunk on a Clarksville guys face. I'd say 23 pts and 10 rebs is pretty good for game 2. Daniel Miller-McLemore is all over the place, Daniel and Young were both in double digits. Peyton Henry is running a smooth point while Austin Pace shuts down people on the defensive end. This team isn't at full strength, (Starnes and Glover) and they look much better than what we saw last year. Nice win 70-49 over Clarksville. This should be a fun season to be a rebel fan! Box score below if interested. Franklin (2-0) 50 James Haddix 23 4 Peyton Henry 8 12 Jake Little 2 2 Debrell McLemore 1 30 Daniel Miller-McLemore 15 34 Logan Nelson 5 24 Austin Pace 3 14 Michael Young 15
