  1. I heard it from good authority (a whino outside Food Lion) that Bill Cowher has already accepted the position. Jon Gruden will be the OC. Monte Kiffin will be DC. Lee Corso will be quality control. Mark it down it is as good as done
  2. Devildog, you are correct in that nobody knows what you are going through on a day to day basis. It would not be fair for anyone to claim that about anyones life. a fact that is being lost is that most of the jobs that will be open will not be posted or come open until the spring. Most counties post them around April. while it is good you are getting a head start, patience is the key with these school systems. I know nothing about you other than what you have posted on the board here. But this is a network of coaches and when someone knows of an opening or possible opening, names get mentioned (friends, former assistant coaches, and even people that are looking for jobs on coacht) People have been trying to be helpful and I realize this thread has taken a turn away from. It takes alot of interviewing and legwork but hopefully you will find the right opportunity. as far as the people you may have rubbed the wrong way, I guess you need to maybe look at your resume and see what it looks like. Have a few other people look at it and see how it comes across to them. Practice your follow up phone calls to the schools. It is always good to look and sound as polished as possible. these principles get numerous calls and resumes a day from people, make yours stand out in a positive way
  3. Ok we get it, nobody knows what it is like to walk in your shoes. your are great and the best teacher candidate possible. I just happen to know that at a few places you have sent your resume to that you have rubbed people the wrong way. that is a fact! You can put these people down and say they are not following the laws and hiring bad teachers who are not as qualified as you. But the fact remains, they are the people doing the hiring.
  4. I guess Mr big britches doesn't want to tell us how great he is anymore? Let's remember he is ten times the teacher any of us are lol. Seriously devildog, you need to realize that a faculty and coaching staff are a very tight knit group. When you give the impression of arrogance ( oh wait you call it confidence), very few people will want to have you as part of their team. High school staffs spend more time with each other than their own families. I have seen it for years, someone is going to come in and change the word. Those people do not last long
  5. And by the way, nobody just offers you interviews and jobs if they do not know you. Most all P.E. and history jobs are already filled before they are posted. that is just the nature of the beast. I know in our county there are coaches spread out in middle schools, elementaries etc. When a spot opens at the high schools they are usually snatched up by those coaches already on staff. that is why i urge you to volunteer and substitute teach while you are getting your certification
  6. I have to agree with BigChief. Your responses to WCP do not seem like a person a principal in this day and age would want to hire. That is great you are a decorated veteran and thank you for your service. But you have no right to say you are a better teacher than someone else. You may be a fantastic teacher and leader and I hope you find success but there are no shortcuts to getting hired nowadays. Until you are in a classroom and evaluated properly, you can not make those claims. A principal is going to hire a fully licensed teacher over someone on a transitional license everyone. Get your credentials, get fully certified and then you will be in better shape. In the interim I would suggest first finding a coach that will let you volunteer and then substitute teach at that school. That way the administration can get to know you and see how you are in the classroom. Best of luck in your search but a bit of humbleness goes a long way
  7. My advice would be to find a school and head coach that would let you volunteer once the season is over. You can start getting your foot in the door there. explain to them your teaching situation and if you do a good job the head coach may be able to recommend to the principal that they h ire you for any open spots. I must say that p.e. jobs are very hard to come by now days. Expand your search to also include elementart and middle school teaching jobs as well. Good Luck in your search.
  8. I think westmoreland has a shot but they must contain wicker the QB. They have two options offensively, run with wicker or pass with him. if westmoreland can get up on them early it could be an interesting night.
  9. One of the issues that faces portland football right now is interest and participation out of the student athletes. There are many good athletes that either quit football when they get to high school or drop out of the program somewhere along the line. I know there is attrition with every program but it seems worse than usual here. I do have to think the future is looking better for panther football. There are some sophomores making an impact on the varsity level, a solid freshman class and two solid middle school teams feeding the high school.
  10. just saw your posting. Would you be interested in coaching middle school to get your foot in the door?

  11. Good for him, i hope that is true. All of the coaches on the staff are good men and deserve an opportunity to further their coaching career. I have heard that Mr. Gideon is tirelessly interviewing candidates and some of them are from out of state and across the country.
  12. I am sure i will only start some more bashing on this thread but since there is no serious talk about who the next coach will be does anyone know if any of the former assistants have landed coaching jobs elsewhere, what about Bever. I know for a fact that one of the assistants has been interviewing for other jobs and thought it might be interesting to see where the others may land.
