I read this forum all the time and sometimes I read stuff that just amazes me. People get on here and put down coaches and administrators, which sometimes they deserve, and I have actually read where players are put down which I think is wrong! I think adults should know better than to do that and I believe that sometimes it's a student from the school, so I try to overlook those comments. These are young athletes trying to have fun playing the game or wanting to be a part of something while having to attend school. Some are actually serious about the game and hoping for a scholarship so they can attend college. What was said about the Oneida coaching staff and players was pretty bad, but maybe it was the truth, and just maybe, since it was brought to their attention, the coaching staff learned from it and has taken care of the situation. What has been written about Caiborne and coach Cook was bad, but maybe it was the truth also! I believe that a coach, a good coach - one that takes their job serious, opens themselves up to critism. Be ready for it because you can't avoid it - it comes with the job! If you can't handle that, then you have no business being there. It's the way it has always been and always will be - you can't change it or run from it. Just like everything else in life , if it's true then you try to learn from it! When your winning, you're the best thing since a good grilled cheese sandwich! Oh, but when your losing look out because everyone thinks it's your fault and fans can sit in the stands and coach the game for you - it's so easy to coach from the stands! I've been in both situations. But what kind of coach are you if you can't handle criticism? I'm only asking this question because every time that something is written that questions a bad decision made by the coaching staff at Cumberland Gap, the topic is removed from this forum, the only school by the way. We are in the same county as Claiborne High and I have to applaud coach Cook, she takes her lumps with shoulders straight and head held high. She's tougher than both head coaches put together at Cumberland Gap! Get tough Gap coaches and stop being so sensative to what others think! If you want your teams to be tough ,then you have to be tough - you set the example for your athletes! When you make a coaching mistake - admit it was your fault - learn and grow from it! If you turn your back to it every time, your certain to make the same mistake over and over again and your only hurting yourself and your team! Not saying that the fans are always right but sometimes they are! I,m only telling you this because you open yourself up to more criticism each time you have a topic removed.
