  1. that 2008 year was actually 7-3. soddy lost a close one to rhea co, farragut, then ooltewah. still a good post though. top three teams in school history maybe.
  2. will it be another blowout?
  3. as i said, i agree that he should have had more carries, because they could not throw the ball well. cedric's carries, along with spencer stewart's carries, were the key to each game. i am just saying that if they had enough talent or execution, they SHOULD have been able to pass. and i do not know why a school as large as soddy does not have many athletes on the field. coach slaughter actually met with all the guys in the entire school about playing. probably 25 to 50 new guys came out to atleast spring workouts that year. it does start with coaching. i agree
  4. i agree with that, but i dont see them winning many more games just because he gets more carries. i do know that if the players execute, they should be able to throw the ball. i played in this offense. if they just run the ball, everyone will be quickly complaining about soddy not throwing enough and cedric getting all the attention.
  5. i think voytik is a great player, but if you look at soddy under coach slaughters spread offense, you had very small inexperienced recievers other than donovan barnes, greg parrott, and bubba haney. some who had more than questionable hands. and an offensive line that averaged maybe 200 lbs and couldnt bench 225, literally. and thats playing in 5a- 6a football. soddy threw for over 5000 yards and 50 touchdowns under that offense in two years while having a 1000 yard rusher each season. that is the only thing that makes me curious about voytik.
  6. some may be the coaching, but soddy is not exactly loaded in talent either. the offense they run will work if the players can execute. i dont know about the defense though.
  7. as i said, i honestly can not imagine why they would be playing like that. i just know from personal experience the kind of coach he can be. he may not be very successful where he is, but i know for sure that he runs the show there. i don't know if he'll stay there or not. i just wanted to state that if given players with the right attitude, he can be a great coach.
  8. i did not intend to make it sound as though voytik is the only reason they can win. i realize it is a team game. i was just responding to everyone who has bashed him lately on other threads. but i do strongly agree, the coaches are working hard. i know coach slaughter would not do anything less
  9. Coach slaughter may be struggling at cleveland, but i promise all of you that he knows more about the game of football than nearly any coach in chattanooga. when he was at soddy, he had no problem getting his team ready to play. he took very, very par talent and beat some very good teams. i cant imagine why cleveland would play without passion and fire. having played under him, i know for a fact that he is by the far most outstanding coach i ever had the pleasure to play under. and that includes college. he'll rip into you the second you mess up, but love you like a son when its time to play the game. getting coach slaughter is no mistake.
  10. i know this topic will be brought up before this post is over. so i want to go ahead and say while voytiks numbers do not compare to coach slaughters former quarterbacks in his spread offense, his footwork, mechanics, athleticism, and arm strength are incredible, it takes a special qb to play in the I. quick 3 step drops, 5 step reads, 7 step reads, checking down, throwing the deep out from the pocket, and all of this behind a high school o-line. and i know for a fact that coach slaughter pushes him and asks alot of him. he looks the part when it comes to all of those things. three years with coach slaughter will give a talented quarterback a great opportunity to play in college,as well as becoming a better player and person. he was fortunate to enough to have that, and he seems to be on the right track religiously. when he was a sophomore, i could see something unique in his game. i hope it continues to develop and he gives chattanooga and coach slaughter a collegiate quarterback to be proud of. nothing about him is a joke, he struggles with accuracy, or he did when we played him a few years ago, but he has all the other talents necessary when it comes to playing in college.it will be about 50 times harder for him to overthrow those guys at pitt. i wish him the best. i hope soddy is ready. while cleveland may be a "let down", i know coach slaughter and voytik will do whatever they can to win. they do what they do for more reasons than looking good on friday nights. both are headed for greater things.
