  1. Your score sounds about right but Lead beat McEwen. NCS beat ER. 4 McEwen @ 1 Forrest 3 MTCS @ East Robertson 4 Community @ 1NCS 3 Lead @ 2 Fayetteville
  2. District By-Laws read something to this effect: Tie-Break Rules 1. Head to head record 2. Record vs. highest seeded opponent 3. Record vs. next highest seeded opponent 4. Coin toss Friday's Community vs MTCS Game Scenario #1: If MTCS wins - they win district with best record Scenario #2:If Community Wins - here the tie-break process: 1. Head to head record - Split 1-1 2. Next highest seeded opponent - Fayetteville - MTCS 2-0 Comm 1-1 MTCS wins district on 2nd tie-break So according to how the by-laws read, I believe MTCS has locked up 1st place regardless of Friday's game vs Community. Coin Flip is not the 2nd tie-break process.
  3. Hoops, I would just like to compare numbers. These are number of a candidate at the very least. It looks like MTCS won their district, so he isn't a guy putting up numbers on a bad team. Their district is actually pretty solid too. Everyone else is throwing out names like we all know them. I would like to know these other candidates stats and what their teams did. I would say 24 & 12 are stout numbers for any level of high school basketball.
  4. For 1A , junior Derrick Spears from MTCS is having an incredible season. According to local paper, he is averaging 24 pts, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals a game. His team is also leading their district, so he isn't doing this on a bad team. Being from middle Tennessee, obviously I haven't seen these guys from east & west TN, but when you look numbers, I wonder if anyone has any better than this.
  5. The new coach is Sytia Messer. She was offered and accepted job on Thursday, had a team meeting on Friday at GTech.
  6. ecu, I agree. There are seven coaches who vote and he didn't vote for himself, so that leaves 6 total votes. If you know Pope and/or Reed, ask them who they voted for. I know for a fact that Reed said he was voting for the Boyd coach. Why, I'm not sure. I agree that they play hard and I have heard that they are scary to play in their gym, but 1 district win and only 6 or 7 wins overall, that is ridiculous. For that matter, Bryant at Community and the coach at MTCS did more with less any other coaches in the district. Those are two teams who could cause some heartache in the tourny.
  7. MTCS wins out and both teams tie, MTCS gets 1st because of the regular season sweep of Cascade. Forrest split with Cascade in the regular season and would be 2nd seed. But MTCS would have to beat Cascade in Wartrace. Not going to be easy.
  8. Forrest, Community and MTCS are all in the running for 3rd, 4th and 5th place. Community - 5-4 - @ Eagleville, @ Cascade, VBC Forrest - 5-5 - @ MTCS, Boyd MTCS - 5-5 - Forrest, @ Cascade Community controls their own destiny between the teams and needs 2 wins for the #3 spot. Forrest should beat Boyd and with a win over MTCS would finish at 7-5 and hope that Community loses to Eagleville and Cascade for #3 outright. MTCS needs wins over Forrest and Cascade and Community to lose 2 games for #3 outright. It is possible that 2 of the three teams end up at 7-5 and possible that all of them end up at 6-6. 4 months of basketball could come down to a coin flip. 4 and 5 play each other in the first round, so #3 could be an important postition to get. Any idea on how long Norris will be out?
  9. I think the high school principal, Mr. Miller is the one you should contact.
  10. A must see is MTCS's new gym. Extremely nice and spacious. You need to go see it!
  11. I do not know reasons but I have heard some details. Shadowens had a meeting with administration on Monday morning. Everyone left the meeting "happy" and Shadowens informed those in the meeting that he was happy with the meeting and that he would be staying at MTCS. He even told his older daughter he was staying and she told her friends that they would be staying at MTCS. Around 2:30, Coach Shadowens, pulled his daughters out of class and informed them he was going to Blackman. So the real reasons may only lie in the mind of Coach Shadowens. There were probably issues that he had to deal with as with any situation, but in a matter of 4 hours he went from happy and staying to resignation. Seems like high school football is just like college and the pros. Say you are staying until the offer gets to good to pass up. Good luck to both schools.
  12. I did some research. His wife was not employed by MTCS.
  13. Sounds like GREED may be the best place to start.
