  1. I was recently at baseball game and went over to watch some of the girls softball game. What's the deal with the pitching? I thought there was supposed to be this awesome group of Freshman girls playing. The pitchers I saw were the same from last year and they don't look like high school pitchers to me. Maybe it was the JV game. If not are there no other options? Until they get some pitching it's gonna be hard to win at that level.
  2. I'm sure a lot of dreamers in the county have applied but there is a search firm in place contacting coaches in several states that have a proven record and ability to win. Also someone who doesn't have to play by the politics of the past.
  3. Sorry to say I told you so but, I'm telling you the change has been made and the word has been passed on that the current WC girls coach will not be retained for next season. The agreement was to not make it public until after the basketball banquet and guess what, they are delaying the banquet to try and gather support to fight it. The fight is over, there is huge dissatisfaction in the county, school board and even inside the high school athletic programs with coaches of other sports. Several within the Southern Standard office also know what has happened and has confirmed the "rumor" with the director of schools. Why are they not running it? Maybe they're chicken to stir anything up, just like everyone else was in the county. Everyone is sick of the Jacobs communist ways of doing things. There are major changes coming soon in other areas of the athletic dept. Everyone will be very surprised at the interest and names that have already made contact with the school system as interested in the job. Some are still playing as we speak. The future for WC girls basketball will be big time again starting next year. It won't be turned around overnight, but it will be for once headed in the right direction.
  4. It is almost the end of the season and guess what, things got so hot that the CoachT boards had to be shut down! There is an unbelievable amount of anger in the entire county over the way the athletic director and the girls basketball coaches have been treating the players and parents, not just this year but many years in the past. Well, all are in agreement that there is no way she will survive the heat put on the program this time. Get ready for big changes next year. Rumor from reliable sources say the board met last weekend and the last rites were given to Eades and Jacobs. The CoachT forums were supposedly used to prove a point to them about how bad things have become.
  5. It's a sad situation. Last night's game was a bad, bad scene. Those girls were no more ready to play than anyone else in the stands watching. They were mentally out of it and when they came out after the half, they just stood in a circle and looked at each other with sad faces as if they were saying, "Do we have to do this anymore?" It seems to me they are starving for some attention and teaching but they're just not getting it. I overheard several of the girls telling their parents they were told by Coach Eades in the locker room they were just stupid and couldn't do anything. It has always been my opinion that a team is a direct reflection of their coach. So what does that tell you if the coach thinks they are stupid? I also overheard more than one parent say if changes weren't made after this season there will be up to 8 of the current players that will not return next year. Now it's starting to make sense as to why there continues to be such a small number of Seniors in the program. Sometimes things come to a point that change is necessary in order to move forward with any progress and it seems to me this is where the WC girls program is at now. Regardless of who's related to who or what the situation is as to why someone would want to continue in this environment, this entire athletic program needs an overhaul. I know all of the parents of those girls and they received an internet copy of the "letter" that has been circulating around the county this past week. The email asks them to respond in agreement or disagreement and every one of them are scared to respond in fear of what may happen to their daughter. I don't know what kind of hold these administrators have on these people but it does not and should not have to be this way. I feel sorry for them all and hope and pray someone with knowledge of the situation, whether it be the school board or director of schools, will stand up and do what's right for these people. No child should ever have to play a sport in this type setting.
  6. You have obviously not read the "letter" either. It calls for a complete overhaul of the entire program from the principal and athletic director on down. You people need to quit whining on here and go sign the letter, write one of your own or do something to make things happen. I promise you, CHANGE is about to take place. And I'm not talking about Obama here.
  7. You obviously have not read the "letter"! There is a reason all is calm at the ole Charlie Dalton gym. Trust me, they are in big trouble this time and they know it. You need to sign the letter and let's end this now. I've heard there are over 800 signatures asking for resignation. You can sign it at area businesses in McTown or contact the school board member in your district.
  8. The game against Oakland will be a good chance to get a win. So were the games against Coffee County, Overton and even Blackman. This team is so undercoached is is hard to watch. They have no fundamental skills, for the most part can't hit a layup, can't pass the ball and seem to always be out of sync and confused. All of these things fall on coaching. It has to be taught consistently. The Smith, McKinley, Roller, Kominos, Martin, King and Wilkinson girls can play the game. They all have different talents that compliment each other and with some good, fundamental coaching could compete well in the next couple of years, especially with the new alignment. The Wilkinson kid seems to be oozing with talent but for some reason has yet to really turn it on, there have been flashes of it but not totally. It almost seems like all the girls are being held back for some reason. It should be between Warren County and Cookeville to win the district, but not the way they currently play. In the opinion of everyone I talk to, there needs to be change. The current coach has had her chance and now it's time to give someone else the opportunity. From what I've seen, I couldn't agree more.
  9. Attended the games at Gallatin this weekend and looks like alot of potential but not being developed very well. They don't seem to play together, almost like the upperclassman against the freshman in an effort to not get them the ball. When they worked the ball into the middle they had excellent play and also opened up the outside game. I did take some notes, The Roller girl in the middle can play if someone will get her the ball consistently. The King girl plays like a bull but can be effective with her power. The Wilkinson and McKinley girls have tons of grit and ability and their game will come with time. The Martin girl is a steady player and hit some clutch shots in one of the games. Didn't see much after that. The future looks promising but fundamentally there are alot of holes but nothing a good coaching effort couldn't cure.
  10. You guys have really got me interested in your program, especially since I have an attachment in some way with one of the players. I'll do some research and see what I can find out about the past and player feelings. I'll let you know. I do know the Wilkinson girl has a softball interest first and basketball second so I don't think there will be any concerns over the basketball program if things don't work out. Mr Wilkinson is very involved with the University of Tennessee and is personal friends with Fulmer (don't know what that's worth now?!), Summitt and The Weakleys that coach softball. I would think the college thing is wrapped up in softball if she plays as well as expected. I may try and make the White Co game this weekend. They are always a very well coached team.
  11. Wow! I didn't know there was such passion about Warren County basketball but I'm finding out it's enormous. I agree with everything you said. I have heard the Warren County coach has lost over 200 games. Does anyone know if that's true and if so where can that information be found. Why in the world does anybody keep a coach that has that bad of a record.
  12. Beech High School in Hendersonville-- I went to school with the Wilkinson girls father and know the stress they were under during the summer as what to do. I can't lie, I begged him to move back home and send her to school here. She is even a better softball player. This coacht thing is all new to me and I've found it to be a big source of information so I decided to join in. It's interesting to read other people's perspectives on players and teams from inside and outside point of views.
  13. The absolute worst coaching job I have seen in years, I don't go to many games but have watched this program from afar for a long time. This team has tons of potential, for once; but has no coaching whatsoever. It really becomes evident when playing against a good coaching staff. I'm sure you will lose some of the younger players before long because they will get tired of the same old "play a little, mess up and get pulled" mentality. Also don't see any leadership, not even sure there are any Seniors on the team. I know the Wilkinson family and know for a fact that child has been begged to play for many teams in and around the area including the one you played last night. She wanted to play for Warren County and be a part of turning it around. Looks like a major mistake. If they're smart they'll get her out of there soon. I'd love to see her play at my alma mater. Good luck and hope it gets better.
