  1. Again, if you are going to impersonate someone else in your screen name, at least spell it right...only a coward uses someone else's name to stir up trouble...man up!
  2. Yes congratulations Coach Ricker! You have been so strong living through so much adversity for the past few years and you deserve this honor! YES! VERY DESERVING!!!
  3. Senior Night for GHS has been moved to tomorrow (Friday) before the Cocke County Game at 6:00 p.m. This is also Pink Night for Cancer Awareness. So GHS faithful, come out and support the senior players, dancers, and cheerleaders and wear your Pink. Donations will go to Susan Ramsey, a GHS counselor battling pancreatic cancer.
  4. Voice, I have great respect for all of our opponents, especially South Greene and Elizabethton. GHS has split with both of them this season and we know they are formidable opponents. I think if you will check the very few posts I have ever made that you will see that I have never been disrespectful to anyone (even gv91 when he/she personally attacks the kids) or any team. If there was something that I have said that was disrespectful, I do apologize as that was not my intent. If anything I was defending the quality of AA basketball since gv91 was trashing it. I just have to step up when I see someone personally name-calling young ladies "jokes" and "worst team ever." I'm not very CoachT savvy but can't a person be blocked removed for personal attacks?
  5. My daughter has had the privilege of playing on the last 4 Lady Devil Teams. They have ALL been excellent! This one is as good and maybe better in overall strength of the starting 5. There is no superstar, no go-to girl...they are all solid and that is why, I believe, ghsbballfan says they have a better "team" concept this year. And yes, they may have had a chance at a State Championship in AA over the years...but they would've had to get past South Greene (who they could not and did not beat last year) and many other excellent Knoxville AA teams. AA Basketball is much tougher in some respects as many of the smaller schools, especially in the larger cities, focus solely on basketball. This team has no choice but to play the hand they are dealt with the school's choice on playing in our correct classification. However, if you will check our very difficult out of conference schedule, you will see that this team has held it's own with all the AAA teams they have played. (one 4A team from VA as well) They played Cocke Co. (IMAC AAA) very well earlier this season and have a great great shot of beating them on the 12th. The only team in their former conference that they would have a tough time coming close to would be Morristown West. And barring a major injury, no one will beat them in this area this year. I personally resent you calling my kid a joke which is what you do when you call the team a joke. She has worked hard, overcome an injury that would have forced many kids to quit and will be continuing her basketball career at a NCAA Div. II school next year. Don't think they would offer this kind of scholarship to a "joke". This team has a great work ethic and is proud to defend and continue the Lady Devil tradition. If you are truly a fan as your screen name suggests, how about a little encouragement instead of dissing? Because your ignorance of our schedule strength is making you the one that looks foolish.
  6. This joke just gets funnier every time I hear it ... Congrats to the "mediocre", "worst Lady Devil Team in 20 years", "gonna get the fire-snot beat out of us" Greeneville Lady Devils for their winning the conference finishing 9-1. What's really bad about most if not all of these quotes is that they come from our own faithless so-called "fans." The Lady Devils are almost back to 100% healthy, meshing as a team at just the right time - tournament time! Couldn't agree more fan...except for a small correction - conference record is 11-1. As a parent of one of those mediocre/jokes/worst team members, it's nice to see some vindication... Great, solid win tonight on the road at Cumberland Gap and I also heard that SG got beat by CD... looking forward to the tournament!
  7. True Panther...we really missed Sam and her rebounding not to mention her customary 12-18 points! But I was impressed with how well the Lady Devils played, especially sophomore guard Betsy Shaw. She stepped in, kept her composure and played GREAT! Three of our starters had 3 fouls going into the 2nd half. (End of the 1st half GHS 8 team fouls / SG 3 team fouls, if that gives you any indication of the theme of the evening) Heck, Brianna got one foul for just thinking about fouling Rechelle and another for being on the floor and a SG player pretty much sitting on her head. Her other 2 fouls...well, she kinda made them really count and were SO deserved. (somebody must've messed with her hair, ha!) It was a VERY exciting game and was nip and tuck until the last 4 minutes...the GHS girls pretty much had their hands tied with the foul trouble and also just flat ran out of gas and left their best 3 pt. shooters wide open 3 times and they did NOT miss! Rematch at the tournament, I'm sure...it will be a great one...can't wait!
  8. Since last year. I believe they had to participate in an "exploratory" year last year playing both Div. II and NAIA schools and were officially granted Div. II status from the NCAA this year. As it was for us (the Kelleys) it will be beneficial to many of our local athletes as NCAA opens up more scholarship funding. Yeah I looked at their website after I posted this. I was unaware of the move up. I knew they wanted to but hadn't heard officially. When they do officially become a full out NCAA team after their probation period will they be joining the SAC or another conference? I'm not quite sure of all the specifics but I know they have to petition the teams in the conference they want to join and and have to be accepted by the member teams but from what I hear they want to be in the SAC with TC, CN, etc...

  10. ghsbballfan - "Normally I am a big proponent of Div. 2 King signee, Kelley. Although a terror on defense, she was a non-factor tonight offensively which is really a shame because not utilizing her strength in attacking the basket is like leaving 12-15 points a game out in space somewhere. Shipley was on fire tonight but one player can't do it all." Couldn't agree more. As her mom, if I hear her 'robotically' say "defense wins championships..." one more time I am going to throw my self into traffic! That may be true but only if you have more points than the other team! Until they decide to step up and play some real, instinctual basketball, you're right, it's probably going to be a long, frustrating season
  11. Bracket now available on website: http://ladiesclassic.greenevillesun.com/bracket.php
  12. This thread is getting TOO funny! I love how the rest of Tennessee discounts any team east of Knoxville. It's good to come in under-rated and under the radar And you guys are right, they will be the most nutritionally balanced and best looking team, no matter what happens, lol. Everyone come out and line Main Street today to wish the Greene Devils good luck on their way out of town. They are supposed to be leaving GHS sometime around 1:00!
  13. Aweee...thanks guys! This is Bri's mom - don't get on here often but someone told me about this thread today. We appreciate all the good thoughts...it's been a challenging (especially this last year) but rewarding road and we think she is going to be very happy at King. We usually don't encourage her to get on CoachT - just a personal opinion that these girls have enough pressure on them without wondering about what strangers will say on a blog - but we will make sure to tell her about it. She can look now if she wants, she is, afterall, 18...man, I'm getting old!
