If this is true then IMO it would be due to the amount of kids now playing AAU, attending camps and going to private lessons. Not meaning to be disrespectful on the T but "most" not all, middle school programs do more "damage" than "teaching" when it comes to girls basketball in the area. That may open a can of worms but its' the truth and some times the truth can hurt. There are some middle schools that have seen this and gone out and made the correct changes but, still I say, this is one area a lot of parents who have sit through a middle school season and prayed for it to END so that their kid could get going in AAU will agree we need improvement in several of the middle schools. Over all I agree with your comment about the obvious improvement and over time I hope to see the improvements made at the middle schools as well. Girls basketball has become highly competitive and if you don't buy into that then I would encourage you to drop by a gym during tournament action and just see for your self.

District 7 AAA tourney will be played at LaVergne High. Where is the region to be played and is it the 1st & 2nd place teams from the district that move into the region? In the past 1st place team gets a sub state game @ home. Do we know the region (not team, unless your a weatherman lol) our 2nd place team will be matched with?

Anxious are we!!!.....well it does appear that RD can win the 7AAA district with a win tonight over LaVergne but I don't think it going to happen. I know our girls our ready & I going to declare right now on Coach T @ 10:45 a.m that we will come out victorious tonight. Close call for Lady Warriors at Smyrna! Time off is a mute point IMO it sure didn't hurt Smyrnas abilities. One thing is for sure we will see this Friday if it was a fluke or not. Lady Warriors I hope you understand and don't forget "YOU HAVE A HUGE TARGET ON YOUR BACK"!!! I for one hope that you girls can get that focus back that you had when you shocked LaVergne. There's no question with the talent on this team every night you play it's a chance for another statement game like LaVergne. Just don't become content! Still lots of work to be done. Everyone knows there is a special time when a team should peak. The hard part is doing it. Round 2 of district 7 aaa "heavy weight" contenders comes up Friday at Riverdale! Safe to say alot of wolverine faithful will be pulling for the blaze in this one. Blackman has a loss to Lavergne early in district action and will be on the road in a gym where there is no "luv" lost so, all the pressure will be riding on the shoulders of the Lady Blaze. Looking foreward to another action packed show down between these two teams. TSSAA can you bring in your best crew for this one? PLEASE!!!

East vs. West and a crew from the east gets this game? It's made a huge difference in the first half. Should be 27 - 7. It's tough to get up after a big win. Mt Juliet has never won or played for the state title. I think you are confused. Your correct after looking it up it was 1998 and it was Hendersonville not Mt. J.. They were the runner up to Oakland. Dang man time flys by,that makes me fill old.

Did Mt. Juliet run the wing when they won state last? Don't remember the year but it was in the 90's at Vanderbilt (Clinic Bowl). They Played in the highest class at that time in 3A. Not a Golden Bear but seems this was a wing-t offense.

Hands down no question the best qb we faced since BJ Coleman. I can't see how this tallent gets over looked, it does'nt matter what team logo he's wearing, to me thats irrelevant. Someone said the allstar selection is from the head coaches, does this mean Juhlins' did or did note vote? Just curious because IMO he should rep. the east squad at qb position.

Yes it can and yes it has. Seems Mt. Juliet ran the wing the last title they won however as was witnessed Friday with the wing-t turn overs will get just about any style offense beat in a semi game. It is what I call play off suicide. You have to control the ball and then the clock. To me it is the exact opposite of the spread and if worked to profection should be productive. The question I have about this "simple" wing-t style offense is why the teams that run it have such a difficult time with the execution. You see fumbles and droped pass plays that allow the "pro-set spread w/ 4-5 rec." back on the feild and if the defense is not prepared or as good as the 85' Bears then the wing-t is a joke. Trust me I witnessed it lived out. Its hard to go to plan B when fundamentals fail in this offense. There again give credit to the opposition. Q. If GQ left after this season and the new staff ran a wing-t would the rest of the state lick it's chop's or still have the same level of respect (or concern) when preparing for the Rebels?

After licking the wounds from the worst beating over past 15-20 years I wanted to say "thank you to the Maryville football community & program" because of the "class" in which you showed. In the last 20 years any team that has won against these Warriors has done belly slides and acted like a middle school team that just pulled the upset of the century. I guess when a school is as sucessful as Riverdale was durring the Rankin days it creates tons of haters. IMO our team failed to play at the level needed to beat MHS on both sides of the ball which allowed the blow out in the 1st quarter. I credit the 3 fumbles to MHS def. and going after the ball like a hungy def. should. GQ knew the odds of a wing-t coming back in the 2nd half from a 21 point lead. I really thought the only way Riverdale could win this one on the road would be 1. Control the clock with the run game. 2. Put pressure on qb and survive the trick plays. If you saw the game then you kind of felt "sick" after the first quarter because you new neither would be the case for the Warriors on this Friday night. Thats life lesson 101(some days the bug, some days the windsheild) and for the seniors (majority), life after football began when the last second left the clock in the "black hole" and you have no choice now but to hold your head high and move forward. Football fans from Maryville, Tn. are you ready? "CRUNCH" time is near and the RIVERDALE WARRIORS roll in to town. Just a few more hours and "the game" both schools have been waiting for years to see will finally take place. I expect both teams to leave it all on the feild, no excuses! Let me start by saying, "I had to clear the eye's after reading this article". Man I knew Chris had an issue dealing with his mom and heard she was in and out of Vanderbilt but, I did not know how serious her illness was. My heart goes out to Chris and the rest of his family, my prayers are with you all. I would like to say to Chris you are a example of a true WARRIOR!!!! Even as a grown man it's hard to imagine the strength, courage, and faith that you have held onto to get yourself through something such as this. No matter what the outcome of this season you have shown by example what it look's like to wear that uniform with honor and integrity and I sir RESPECT that tremendously!!! What is the word on charter bus or buses from Riverdale to Murvale(sp?) Friday night? Understood the 500 tickets went like "hot cakes" that should not shock any one thats seen how this school travels. What I don't understand is why tssaa would send only 500 tickets to a school that put 1500 in the stands at a reg. season game in Columbus, Ohio? I bet GQ is behind it, it's some kind of "trick play", daaaag gummit!! That's ok them Warriors will find some way to circle the wagons and fire up the CHOP! I am real HONORED to be allowed to play this game against maryville. We understand that we are not as powerful as maryville nor do we have as many atheletes as Maryville In fact i cant believe we are actually gonna play this game I should save the gas money and ticket money and time and not show up BUT I do appreciate that you are going to allow us to play this game but please go easy on us thank you RIVERDALEMAN Lets get something straight. #1 I am not here talking how bad we will beat Riverdale or how horrible they are or any of that stuff; I know better than that. #2 You should be honored to play Maryville, just like we are honored to play you; these are two of the greatest traditions in TN high school football and it will be everyones honor to see these two teams play #3 No one ever said anything about you not being as strong or as athletic as Marvyille; whoever says that is an idiot because if anything, you look like the more athletic and stronger team from what I've see #4 The way you are typing you are either a HS kid or immature adult...grow up What I have said was my opinion, not the opinion of the football team, GQ, other fans, my neighbor, the milkman or anyone else....mine alone and please correct me if I am wrong but the US is a country just like most other ones in the world which allows free speech. Close game at the beginning, takes a half to adjust to the other team, comes out second half with the right adjustments and hits a team with a trick play when they least expect it in order to gain some momentum. I said it before and Ill say it again...for all we truly know outside of our opinions this game could end up 3-0 either team, thats how good they are. He is writing primarily in Gaelic, with elements of Middle Dutch, a smidgen of Swedish, a hint of Portuguese, with a few Serbo-Croatian tendencies. Riverdale fans in the past have filled several charter buggies to follow the Warriors, would hope for this match up to see no less. I am concerned if the post earlier was correct about the visitors side holding only 1100. It's to my understanding most people going are exiting the Boro. early and stoping by Aubrey's for a little pre game "chop" or that would be chops w/ tatters over there. lol Aubrey's restaurant is about 1mi. from the stadium and is located at 909 W Lamar Alexander Pkwy.. IMO Maryville never gets out coached so I give the upper hand to GQ and staff.
