  1. Haven't seen anything as nice as Mt. Juliet. Athletic facility looks like a small college. Everybody that plays there gives top notch comments. Lots of nice fields across the state but for a public high school, this one is hard to beat. Great indoor facility, turf and infield is always immaculately prepared. Brick from dug out to dug out. A huge back stop. Seat backs in the stands Lots of care put into the entire place.
  2. Agreed that you have to score runs to win games, but anyone that knows baseball realizes that great pitching beats good hitting almost all the time. MJ has faced the ace of everyone's staff in every game this year with the exception of the Arlington game. They've scored 66 runs against 14 given up. I'll take those numbers along with the pitching we have and see where we stand at the end of it all. The best teams in the world lose about 60 games a year. I don't believe any team in the state will win them all. Let's just wait and see come May before we declare MJ dead just because they lost one game to an outstanding pitching performance. I tip my hat to Hendersonville, they out pitched us last night. I still like our chances when it counts due to staff depth, which is what it will take to win the marathon, because it's not a one game sprint.
  3. Monday at MJ Beech versus Lebanon 4pm, MJ plays the winner right afterward If necessary game Tuesday at 7pm Monday at Hendersonville WC versus Hendersonville 4pm, Gallatin plays the winner right afterward If necessary game Tuesday at 7pm District Championship game on Wednesday at higher seed North winner versus South Winner, MJ is high seed from south, Hendersonville is high seed from north, Hendersonville hosts if they meet each other on Wednesday
  4. MJ won their first round game against Henry County and lost the semi final game vs Wilson Central, Lebanon lost their first round game against Rossview. The final should be interesting as Rossview will be the most physical and fast team that Wilson Central has faced all year. Their undefeated record will face a big challenge in this game. I assume coach Wild probably has some more tricks up his sleeve. Best coach 9AAA has had in awhile. Fryer is gonna have to go back to the drawing board if he wants to stay compettitive against Wild in the coming years. Of course, having a shooter like Spray doesn't hurt.
  5. After the first week of play and having watched the summer games, The District looks like it can be broken down like this. WC should win. They have the best player and the most experience. I would have picked Lebanon #2 but an injury and some team issues may have allowed them to drop back into the race with MJ, Hend and SC. Gallatin will be better but still won't be in that second group, Portland wil be competitive and surprise a few teams, Beech will be down for them, especially with their coach missing the season. MJ is young but by the end of the season should buy into CF's scheme and give teams some trouble. All in all the district should be much more even and competitive than most years and should actully provide some entertaining games. Good luck to all 1. WC 2. MJ 3. Hend 4. Lebanon 5. SC 6. Gallatin 7. Portland 8. Beech
  6. I've got another phrase for ya Warrior Fan "If you're scared, stay on the porch"
  7. Chick, what are you looking for on Craigslist ? A copy of Rosetta Stone to learn the English Language
  8. Funny how the collection of nobody's from Mount Juliet keep beating your "all world players"
  9. Mt. Juliet won easily with excellent defense by forcing lots of turnovers and limiting Centrals shooters from barely taking any shots. Mt. Juliet's size and experience is just too much for the rest of the district it appears. Hendersonville hung close because they shot 80% from three point range that night. My guess is that kind of performance won't happen again. I've seen potential Region and sub-state opponents in Rossview and Brentwood play and not sure that they can handle Mount Juliet's attack either. Potentially, The next meaningful game the Lady Bears will play is the Region championship against Rossview, the sub-state against region 6 runner-up Brentwood and then into the States. it's not hard to see that scenario playing out because no one in region 6 is going to beat Dickson County either.
  10. First of all, Coach Johnson hasn't gifted coach Fryer anything other than kids that lack fundamentals. The best players the last few years just haapened to be a 6'4" D1 talent and 2 transfers that are very good and have comitted D1. Fryer has to spend the girls freshmen years deprogramming before they become useful. Mt. Juliet has been very fortunate for the last 10+ years to have had a lot of talent come through and would have been successful at the middle school level regardless of coaching, mainly because of size and natural ability. Chris takes these girls to another level because of his system and the girls parental support, not because of anything they learned in middle school.
  11. They have some young talent on WC. A couple of Sophomores and Freshmen that will turn into nice players over the next couple of years. Just not ready to compete with MJ this year. I think Bud is getting alot out of the talent this year and they have actually won more games than most have expected. MJ is too big for most of the teams in 9AAA. Hendersonville will probably be the only team that can rebound with them. Monday night should tell the tale. From what I've seen so far from 9AAA and 10AAA, MJ and Hendersonville should meet each other for the 5AAA region championship and both go to sub-state games. Nobody from 10AAA has really impressed me, MJ beat Dickson Co. by 40 points and DC beat Rossview who is supposed to be "good".
  12. MJ played very uninspired basketball against WC which allowed them to stay close. The lead was up to 17 at the end of the third quarter. McCabe did not play well, caught an elbow in the nose early and seemed distracted throughout. WC is scrappy with a couple decent outside shooters but they would have to play lights out and MJ would have to not show up at all for the outcome to be the other way. Can't wait for MJ/ Hendersonville on Monday, they have seperated themselves from the rest of the district and Monday should give us the answers we are all looking for.
  13. Why do we talk about Science Hill like they are some little podunk school that is over achieving because they don't recruit and all the girls are home grown. It's one of the biggest high schools in the state for crying out loud and the only public high school the girls can go to in that vicinity. They dont recruit, because they don't have to. They ought to be good when you have that many students to choose from. It's different when you have 6 or 7 schools like Murfreesboro does and year after year most of the best talent ends up in one or two places. That's why there is such suspicion. Bottom line is this, TSSAA allows all of this to happen openly. A few of the better programs just know how to play poker better than others. None of it is illegal until TSSAA decides to crack down or change rules. Until then, just let the girls lace 'em up and play ball and enjoy watching some pretty good girls basketball across the state.
  14. They play 10-11 players in all games because they are up by 30 points most of the time. They don't go that deep when they're in close games. Only went 6 or 7 deep against MJ and Columbia. MJ was a 6-8 point game until the very end when foul shots stretched it out and we all know about the Columbia game. Bet they don't go 10-11 deep tomorrow night against Blackman either. Riverdale is the team to beat, no argument here, but there are a few teams right in the mix not far behind them.
