  1. Sycamore swept. 5-4 and 3-1. Goodpasture swept Westmoreland Macon and White House split Here's how the district shakes out as of now, going into the last week. 1. Sycamore 7-1 2. Goodpasture 7-1 3. Greenbrier 3-4 4. White House 3-4 5. Macon County 2-6 6. Westmoreland 1-7 White House and Greenbrier play Friday to make up one of their games. Sycamore has the tie breaker on Goodpasture from what I understand. Week 5 schedule: Greenbrier vs Macon County Goodpasture vs White House Sycamore vs Westmoreland those are the standings as of now, with Sycamore having the tie breaker with Goodpasture (head to head).
  2. How has everyone done this week?
  3. Definitely looking forward to playing at the Rock and the Wood this week. Some great teams in this one.
  4. Let's keep this about the games that are played, not rumor mill. If the kid is out for the year, sorry to hear that.
  5. Sycamore and Goodpasture split. Goodpasture W3-1 on Tuesday, Sycamore W5-0 on Wednesday. Both competitive games, but Goodpasture booted some balls Wednesday to give Sycamore the early lead. What happened around the district this week?
  6. Did the Hopkins kids throw any last year? Don't remember him. But, if he is touching 86 or above, then wow! This district is up for grabs still. Any team 2-0 or 0-2 or 1-1 is still in it obviously. Next week should start to separate some of the more weak or more strong teams. Who will be 4-0 next week, Goodpasture, Sycamore, or White House? (assuming White House beat Westmoreland twice). This is a fun district to watch, looking forward to it.
  7. Sycamore wins at home vs Macon 8-7. Sloppy game by both teams.
  8. Sycamore wins at Macon. 4-2. Game tomorrow at Sycamore at 4
  9. How did everyone do during opening week? Where did you go (if anywhere). What are the records as of now?
  10. I miss this old district. Still love all the coaches in it as well. ROP, I hope y'all are doing well, and God bless. Sycamore at Harpeth Saturday (weather permitting). Should be fun
  11. Like I said, no big deal. I know you, and I knew you didn't mean it malicious. Harpeth is back on track to what Harpeth was when I played for Sycamore, and not where it was when I got back from my college playing days and started coaching for Sycamore, and that is Relevant.(No offense to the guy(s) before Donny, they were put in a tough spot in my opinion). They are relevant now, I want to see the intensity like it was 6-8 years ago when Sycamore met Harpeth. A game that was played tough, smart, and with some compassion, something that gets my blood pumping profusely. Maybe a little jawing back and forth. That's okay, as long as it's not personal. Don't get me wrong, Sycamore fell off a little bit too, with what I am speaking of. We went through a few years where there wasn't any leaders, no one that would get in someones face for walking during a practice, goofing off when a coach wasn't looking, etc. All of that shows in the game. Last year, Harpeth spanked us a Station Camp, because they wanted it, that's why. Our guys didn't want it, didn't care. I am talking about playing with confidence, not cockiness. These are all things that Donny preaches, and we do as well at Sycamore. I love where Harpeth is right now, and you guys are lucky to have Coach Jones, bottom line. Rivalry or not, I root for Harpeth unless we are on the same field. Because that's what respect is all about. 3 years ago, I wouldn't have rooted for Harpeth, ever. KS, and if they don't like the way Coach Jones handles his business, we don't want them neither.
  12. WOOOOWWW, Indianblue stirring the pot over at the rock.. Like Coach Jones or not, the guy is a great fellow, well liked by his coaching peers, and a stand up guy. I personally think he is exactly what that "whiny, spoon fed" program needed. That is not meant as a shot at them, because let me tell you, I have much respect for that program and the "good parents" surrounding it. Donny took that program and made a man out of it, if you ask me. They play with intensity and passion, and that's what hard work will do to a player. It makes the player look at the game with such a different angle, an appreciative one. I am not hiding behind a screen name, I coach at Sycamore, and you can come see me Saturday at Harpeth when we scrimmage. Donny Jones is a personal friend of mine, that I respect a ton. There is not many guys I respect more in this profession. So while you go whining about where the money goes, just be happy you have a guy who works for $1500 and not a penny more. That's pathetic my friend. Coach Jones stirred the pot over there, and I love it. Change is good sometimes. That team play's with an attitude now, and as a Coach I love it. KS, why the shot at Sycamore? Why would you suggest we are looking for players? Either way, I like you KS, so no hard feelings man. Also, why does this even come up? Why when you finally have a Coach (since Frasier (sp?) that is doing such positive things for the program do you try and run him off? Mind you, these are strictly my words from my observations. I just can't comprehend it.
  13. Like I said, I just wanted to shake things up. I believe they have the most experience returning. That's all.
  14. Coachcutt sounds biased, but here I go.. I watch several teams in the area and I keep up with this district.. 1.Camden 2.Harpeth 3.MC 4.Waverly 5.CW 6.Cheatham 7.Stewart Camden has the most experience along with Harpeth. I usually don't think that one player makes or breaks a team, but losing Davis stings. I think it takes them out of the drivers seat. I really hope I am wrong, but the kid could swing it. He's a game changer in the 3/4 hole. MC is very well coached and will be better this year. Always fundamental. Notoriously scary tourny team though. Waverly, who knows with them. Jesse is a great coach as well. Purcell is the best player in this district, and he may have them finishing in the top 2? CW was good last year, but like ROP said. Too many ???'s. And I have seen that schedule, brutal. That will only help come tourny time. Good coaching staff though.. Cheatham and Stewart are usually here. Boyd is a great guy and has come along way with where they were since Whit left. I wish him the very best. Good luck to all teams.
  15. 1. Sycamore 2. Goodpasture 3. Greenbrier 4. White House 5. Macon 6. Westmoreland Sycamore only lost two seniors that hardly played. Probably 30 total AB's between the two, from what I hear. With the two studs from Goodpasture gone, Zach Gentry is probably the most talented player in the district. The verdict is still out on if this team has what it takes between the ears, but this is the most veteran team in the conference. Has the talent. We shall see. Goodpasture is Goodpasture. Top 5 coach in the state. However, losing two players that ate D-1/MLB Draft talent has to hurt. Estep will have them ready. They could win it, but I just want to shake things up. Remember the name, Hunter Newman. Greenbrier has probably the best pitcher in the conference. Aside from that, just a scrappy bunch of guys. Which is a good thing. Ledbedder (sp?) is a horse, and they are tough to beat at home with the weird field and short porch. White House, the best coaching staff in the area. Mills is a great guy and well respected, I just feel they lost too much. I hope I am wrong, I pull for these guys. Best ball park in this area as well. Macon lost way too much. Great run last year though. Westmoreland shows flashes, but just no consistency. They have some good players though. This is one of the toughest districts in the area to say the least. Goodpasture/White House are the "class" but I believe Sycamore has the best squad. We shall see, good luck to all teams.
  16. How is everyone doing so far? Anyone know recent scores (district play only)
  17. I know White House, Goodpasture, Sycamore and Macon are usuall good/great. What about Greenbrier and Westmoreland? So this should be an interesting year. Tough district to play baseball in. Definitely glad the last thread go deleted. A lot of nonsense going on in that one. Good luck to all teams.
  18. Speaking of unfair! I never called the kid "pitiful". I was stating the obvious about to many dropped/passed ball 3rd strikes. Never once talked about this batting skills or how hard he works. Blow something out of proportion would why don't you!
  19. Purcell's out pitch is most definitely his Changeup. Curve ball is nice. Fastball is his set-up pitch. Hopefully Foriest is more accurate this year, and maybe a catcher that can catch him would be nice.
  20. Cameron Reed pitched two innings, Garrett Mayberry pitched four innings, and Cory Carrigan pitched one inning to get the W.
  21. College's are looking at most of the seniors. Mostly Ju Co's, but only because 4 year schools haven't been out to see them. Kyle has had offer(s), and others will be getting offers surely. If rained out at Sycamore, possibility would be CW's field. Sycamore remaining to be the home team though. This game has to be played today, no exception. If rained out in full, Sycamore 1 seed CW 2.
  22. CW 9 MC 0 Sycamore 1 Waverly 0 Sycamore threw a no hitter in 8 innings played (Quillen 6 1/3 innings pitched Carrigan 1 2/3 innings pitched) Purcell threw a two hitter. Waverly is a classy team, with a classy coach. Great high school baseball game. Purcell is a true competitor on the field, but a wonderful kid off of it as well. CW v Sycamore @ Sycamore @ 6pm
  23. Thursday CW vs MC @ MC @ 5 o'clock Tarp will play for sure. Waverly vs Sycamore @ Sycamore @ 5 o'clock Sycamore's field is playable right now, word is that if it does rain then this game will be played @ 7 o'clock tonight at MC. Confusing stuff I know. Friday Winner of both meet at higher seeds place. I would guess 6 or 6:30 as start times pending weather.
