For the people quoting scripture for your own benefit, what verse would you quote for the unsportsmanlike conduct technicals called during the game? I bet God really doesn't care who wins or loses, but he probably does care if you are walking in His light! There is a time and a place to use the Bible. However, make sure you are prefect before you start hurling verses at people stating their opinion which may be different than yours and not God's.

I've never once downgraded LA. You can go look at all of my previous posts. I have much respect for LA. Have for years, including this one. I just wish the same was given to CC by some LA posters. You are reading much more into my posts than what was intended. Why or how would one downgrade LA's program? LA's accomplishments speak for themselves. Furthermore, I've never called other posters names or told them to act like an adult. You might, however, need to reference that post to your fellow LA posters who apparently do not think CC deserved those wins as you said. Congrats to LA. I hope they are able to pull of the win and make it to the glass house. If so, I will be there cheering for them just like I have been in years past.

Furthermore, you said LA would beat CC by 25 on one of your last posts, because everyone on your team had the flu the last time they played. So which one is it...beating CC by 25 or losing your dominance because you are all about football now?! I'm confused!

No, the truth is CC beat LA three times this year, and that hurts your ego! Where is all of this entitlement coming from?! Guess we are starting to see the almighty LA's true colors.

Or about any team in 8AA...go read your post, my friend. Those are your words not mine. However, please stop degrading CC's success this year. It is not fair to the kids who have put their time in fairly. CC has humbly sat back and watched LA, DC, and even Upperman have their success over the last few years. Let CC have theirs this year without any other crappy excuses. Shame on you!

Thought you wouldn't post anything about 8AA for a year since Cannon beat LA for the district title. Guess you aren't a man of your word! Wouldn't expect anything less!

You did say that all he did was complain the first half and got a T. I was just merely correcting that statement since you are only about the facts. But I guess bad match-ups isn't an excuse either. I called it several weeks ago that Smith would give some teams trouble in the tourney. Do not discredit how much they have improved. This coming from a Cannon fan...ask Upperman as well. Since we are throwing out excuses, Cannon had the bye in the tournament (due to finishing first place and beating Livingston twice ) so they had not played a game in 9 days. Plus, they didn't know who they were playing until the night before. Cannon played flat which I think we all knew was going to happen. Smith County is rolling right now, and Cannon still made the plays to win at the end. Not to mention, Livingston has had more games on Cookeville's floor this year than Cannon. I do believe this game will be closer than the last. I'm sure the hogeye will be out for blood to avenge the whooping they took in Woodbury! However, considering everyone picked Livingston the previous two times they played, please keep picking them! I'm just ready to watch some basketball!

And this is why I hate individual awards in team sports! Who cares who got what if your team doesn't succeed?! The sad thing is I bet allig the individuals recognized with awards would give them up if that meant their TEAM could win a championship.

Rigsby is a local guy, and this was his first head coaching job. He played at cannon and is still relatively young, early 30s. He puts a lot of time in the younger players throughout the year with several AAU teams and also runs the youth basketball league for CC. Prior to him, Cannon went through a few coaches that...let's just say didn't fit in with the small town atmosphere (not mentioning the name of a coach that is now an assistant at an AA school that can legally recruit players from other schools). The players seem to have caught on to Rigsby's drive and also put in a lot of extra work. Cannon has always been a basketball school. I think the program just needed someone who cared long term and not just about using Cannon as a stepping stone to get somewhere else, IMO.

Trust me, I haven't forgotten about that post since I read it. I don't really care if he honors it or not. Just some acknowledgement of CC's successes would be nice. However, I'm sure that crow doesn't taste well this morning.

I watched the Brainerd-Cannon game earlier this season. I firmly believe Cannon can beat them. Cannon has gotten better since that game. I can't say the same for Brainerd since I've not seen them play since. However, props to LA and Cannon...obiviously people from Chattanooga know they play a huge game tonight!

Lol! Agreed! All I know is LA and CC should be on opposite sides of the bracket! I think it goes by record of common opponent. Even if York and Macon split, Macon still has the better overall record pending two wins this week.

Upon further investigation, I was told the tie breaker would be common opponent. The coaches voted to do away with the coin flip when there was a three way tie for first with the girls a few years back. So if LA wins tonight, and Cannon and LA both win Thursday, then the 1st place seed depends on who wins tonight between York and Macon. If Macon wins, then CC is the one seed. If York wins, then LA is the one seed. I believe that was what I was told. Clear as mud, right?

I hate coin flips! Lol! Just seems to cheapen the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that both teams have put into the season!

So if LA wins tomorrow, and both teams win on Thursday, who will get the first place seed with an automatic birth to the region? Will it be a coin flip or record of common opponent like last year?

If you have good coaches, yes you would be correct. However, Cannon County isn't big enough to produce that many good players. You might have two or three out of each class. So if you have the 15 best playing together from sixth grade on, they are more advanced when they get to high school versus 70 kids playing zone defense on small courts.

I won't disagree that history would prove Cannon to be the underdog going into tomorrow night. Both teams are very equally matched. But gosh, I love a good underdog story! Keeps things fun and interesting!

Actually, Cannon has the worst situation. No middle school or jr high for them. They have six k-8 schools that still play on small courts. A lot of summer work has to be done just to be competitive in district 8-AA.

In the words of Allblue, "my gosh, talk about sensitive!" For someone who has talked their fair share of "crap," you have to be able to take a little every now and then, too. Looking forward to tomorrow night. Both teams will come prepared and regardless of the outcome, I'm sure they will meet again. To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Maybe York should have stuck to that same game plan again, because I was surprised how winded they were after the first half. Blevins even spent several minutes on the bench due to being so gassed.
