  1. Good Luck to the Cubs tonight! All of Cheatham County will be pulling for you, even this side of the River.
  2. Harpeth beat E. Hickman on Saturday 12-0. Lost to Ensworth Wed. night 8-1. We will now get the basketball players starting today which should help fill some holes in the line up. Really looking forward to seeing some of these guys play this year. Ethan Hurt may be the best OF in the District and should produce big at the plate after playing a really competitive summer last year. Pitching has been a bit suspect, lots of arms and no Aces, ptichers will have to trust their defense and throw strikes.
  3. Congratulations to Creekwood and Cheatham, good luck for the rest of the tourney
  4. Harpeth is scheduled to play Ensworth Wed at 4:30, unfortunately the tarp was not put out prior to last night's rain. I didnt go by the field but I'm certain it is a mess.
  5. Harpeth losing Presley and Foriest is going to be tough to replace on the bump. They do have lots of prospects but not proven in District play. Offense should be good with Hurt anchoring the lineup. Also looking for a big year out of Bryce Baker, has a lot of pop in his bat and solid at SS. Too many new and unknown players to tell at this point. Returning Varsity players should help stabilize the newbies
  6. Wow! I write a lengthy post about letting the kids play the game without all of this anger towards other teams. Did I hit a nerve? My reference to you and Bbrawler was on the similiarity of your posts. You both seem to have some unresolved anger issues. We are talking about high school kids. Not professional players. How many of these kids will ever make a living playing a sport? They play for love of the game, that is the purest of motivation. They don't play to bait, fight, heckle, or humiliate their opponents. What is it with you and looking for a confrontation? My whole post was about sportsmanship and having a positive experience and now you want me to come find you in the gym? I did find you in the gym last year and thought we had a good conversation. As far as my playing days... that was 30 years ago, I have let go of those days long time ago, apparently you haven't been able to. Let it go, and if you continue to call people out on a personal level you may get your wish. Have a great Day!
  7. I'm starting to think Brooklynbrawler and Howditknow2 are related or maybe even one guy. Should the rest of the district just bow down to the mighty Cubs? perhaps we should just save our money and forfeit tonight's game. Just go ahead and cancel the rest of the season and send Cubs to State, perhaps we can just get TSSAA to send them the trophy. Maybe you can just order one off line, same place you get the regular season trophies. Give it a rest, lets let the boys play out the rest of the season and let the better team on each night win. There is no doubt that Cheatham is having an exceptional year, and they have tons of talent. That being said they should have won last years tourney if you just look at talent. Somebody help me here....they didn't win last years tourney because on that one night, they got out played. It can happen to anybody, that's why we play the games. Look at all the upsets in college ball this year. I'm not sure what purpose it serves for a fan to get on here and trash every other team in the district with threats of beat downs and bending someone over a Chevy. Most of these seniors will be playing their final games of their career over the next few weeks, wouldn't it be cool to play them on the court and not on a message board. As I have said previously, the players are not the ones that are doing the trash talking. I know for a fact that they mutually respct one another. Tonight you will have a Cheatham senior playing against his Dad, a Harpeth Coach, do you really think they will be wishing ill will towards one another? Do you think one would like to embarass the other? I don't, I also know several of the Cheatham players maintain friendships with several of the Harpeth players off the court. Where does all of this hatered come from Howditknow2/Brooklynbrawler? Did Mommy not hug you enough as a kid, were you never good enough to be an athlete, get cut as a kid and now this is your only pulpit? Let it go! Go watch the game, cheer for your team and be a good sport, win or lose. If you lose, don't blame officials, coaches, fans, moon phases, or under inflated balls. Just accept it and move on, that is what we try to teach the kids to do. I am looking forward to seeing a good game tonight, and hope both teams play well.
  8. Harpeth wins easily over Mont Central. 30 plus point blow out. Anderton hit 7 threes
  9. A plea for civility.....Can everyone please limit the posts to basketball and leave the personal attacks out. It is so childish how every year this topic at some point gets down to name calling and threats. It is embarrassing to this Harpeth fan, and Cheatham county resident. To my knowledge not one single invitation to meet in the parking lot has ever been accepted, nor should it be. While we all should be passionate about our teams I would think we could do so with a civil tone. It is amazing to me that there is more trash talking on here than most of the kids do during the game. Matter of fact most of us would frown on our own son if they were jawing, and trash talking during a game. Set the tone for the boys, cheer and support your team, don't trash the others. That is my sermon for the day! Looking forward to seeing a good game tonight when Montgomery Central rolls in to Harpeth. I always enjoy watching their Coach, kinda reminds me of Hulk Hogan.
  10. The Waverly/Harpeth game was a great display of sportsmanship and how fans should behave. You are correct in your assessment of Ethan Hurt, not only is he a gifted atheletics, he is also a great Christian and role model. It's not an act, and he is that genuine all the time. If a young man going thru struggles can unite rivals wouldn't it be great if we could all behave better all the time. I was inspired by this young man and the actions of Ethan, I took Ethan over to meet Garrett before the game. Great job to all
  11. Harpeth stayed with Waverly at times last night until later in the game. We were outplayed in the 4th, with way too many turnovers. My hat is off to Waverly and especially the fans, it was a great crowd that displayed great sportsmanship. It makes it so muc more fun to watch when the crowd is respectful. I though Hurt contained Mully pretty well, a lot of his points were in transition offf turnovers, he is a class act and a good athlete. Praying for Garrett
  12. In my humble opinion....99% of transfers are caused by disgruntled parents. Once the parent starts questioning the Coach in front of their kid, the kid buys into it. This is not teaching a very good lesson, it is better to teach the kid to adapt to the situation and rise above it. Parents tend to see things thru DaddyMommy/Goggles. They have unrealistice opinions about how good their kid is, this leads to the conspiracy theory. You know the one that " the only reason my son is not playing more is because the other kids parents are more(involved, influential, liked, powerful,)" substitute whatever word you want here. The other thing I see that causes the transfers is that the kid has been told since he was 9 what a phenom he is. When he gets to HS, he expects to start as a freshmen, and lead the team in scoring, rebounds, assists, and date the homecoming queen. When it doesn't occur this way, well we gotta blame somebody. Hey lets blame the Coach! His style doesn't fit our kid, he's too hard/easy on the kids. Whatever the reason those looking for an out can always find one. That being said, I wish nothing but the best for anyone who transfers in or out. I hope they find a better situation that they can thrive in. We don't own these kids and they are free to move wherever allowed by TSSAA. It is a hardship on them to leave their friends and make new ones, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Sometimes it just gets to a point where that is the only option left, although it should never get to that point.
  13. Good luck Cheatham County, you have represented the County well!!!!!! We are pulling hard for you on the South end.
  14. Good luck to Cheatham County, this truly is one of the best to come out of our county in quite a while. I am most impressed with the journey these Seniors have taken. To go thru all they went thru as Freshmen to now and stick together says a lot about the character of these young men. It also is a huge compliment to the coaching staff and program in general. I will hope for a good game and pray for the safety of both teams. This is what makes high school sports so much fun to watch, unlike the TITANS
  15. I would have to throw Bryce Baker from Harpeth in the mix here. Only knock is errors on the routine play can get him. Makes the highlight reel plays, bats left with good pop and good average.
  16. OK, I will ruffle some feathers here.... about the band. Have you ever thought for a moment that the band would probably prefer to just come watch the game and not perform, it's true. Most HS coaches push for the band to be at every game, even the away games. I know from having a daughter in the band for 4 years what it takes. How about a 500.00 dry cleaning bill to perform a half time show on a hot night. Also, you get a huge bump in the gate by the band, all their parents could probably care less about the game, but pay their money to watch Suzy play her 8 minutes at half time. I don't think the band is an annoyance at Harpeth, most of our fans understand how much hard work goes into performing at the level our band performs at. If you look in the stands at half time the crowd stays in their seats to enjoy the show. Our director is very sensitive to playing at the right times, he actually is a football/sports guy. If you are having trouble with your band I suggest talking to you AD, who should be managing the play time or at least set the boundaries. We have had opponents who think they came for a battle of the bands so I can relate to the disruption. Lastly, nothing like playing the game on Friday night then arriving at the band hall for a 6;30 departure for a competition, wonder how many footbal players will attend to support the band???????
  17. Good Luck to both of our 11AA teams that will be advancing. I hope you both go far in regions. Baseball is a funny game, some days the ball gets down, other days everything you hit is right at somebody. I hope both of you have some success!!!
  18. Devin Presley finishing the year strong for Harpeth, looks to be heading to Jackson State. Hit low 90's this year with a tough curveball. Very efficient pitcher for most of the year, gutted it out last night in first round of 11AA districts, beating Montgomery Central 13-7. Great kid who has really matured this year. Brandon Foriest will be on the bump tonight, another hard throwing right hander that will play at the next level. Has had a good year with some unfortunate defensive errors behind him, should have won several more games if we just make a play.
  19. Harpeth beat Camden in a wild one last night with both teams scoring 5 runs in the first. Presley went the distance for Harpeth gutting it out in a game where he didn't have his best stuff. 13-7 was the final.Bryce Baker hit a two run bomb for the indians. Montgomery Central topped Creekwood in the 2nd game by a score of 10-5. Harpeth and MC play tonight at 7, while CW and Camden will play the early game at 4:30.
  20. Harpeth wins tonight 16-3 against Stewart County. Does anybody else have results?
  21. Good luck to everyone, hope the thunderstorms will stay away. The indians are playing well right now, hope we can maintain our level, and continue to play loose. When the guys are having fun we are much better. Looking for a big crowd tonight at The Rock.
  22. Come on howdoitknow2, it's not like you to take a shot and then run away. Need I remind you that the differnce in the score of the baseball game was more than the difference in all the other games for all the other sports combined. I have been very complimentary of Cheatham's programs this year, but to say you owned us? Are you looking for a rumble. Might I remind you that the basketball season ended with us hoisting THE DISTRICT TROPHY. Which is now proudly displayed in our case. In 2 games we scored 46 runs on your beloved cubs and gave up 0. In both games we rested our best players and played JV for the last two innings of the 36-0 game, which was shortened to 4 innings when youre coach threw in the towel. We set a new state record for the number of hits in a baseball game and did it in 4 innings. I'm just saying...... That is what you call owning somebody.
  23. From now on when we get beat in basketball or football we need not use the, " we were flat". From now on when we get beat I will just say, we are missing some of our better athletes who chose no to play this sport.
  24. I have been patiently waiting for two days to hear from howditknow2 on the Cheatham/Harpeth results, nothing yet. I have never in all my years seen such a mismatch as I did Tuesday night. The score was bad, but how bad could it have been. Harpeth did not play varsity but 2 innings, they were holding runners after the first inning. Its hard to gloat after such a beating, but I went back and read some of the posts from basketball season just to put me in the mood. I just can't imagine how Cheatham beat Stewart county. Just saying....
