    Alcoa vs. CAK

Alcoa-2 CAK-1....this is a pretty blind guess considering I haven't seen CAK play this year but I know Alcoa has a lot of talent and have heard many injuries have stricken CAK. It should be a great game!
  2. Thanks for clearing that up Akula. To T-nac, the result of the Grace Christian vs Carter game was a tie at 2-2; however, I believe Carter has been given the win due to the recent TSSAA infraction that Grace Christian was involved in which resulted in some of their games being forfeited. I am still unsure about the whole situation, but from what I have heard, some of their wins have been taken away because of the infraction. The Berean vs Carter game should be close depending on the effort both teams put in. I know it will be tough for Berean having two starters out but maybe their depth that T-nac mentioned will play to their advantage. Carter has the potential to be the top team in the district although they have struggled on offense so far this year. Good luck to both teams!
  3. There have been some significant changes in this district with Alcoa and Seymour both moving up and Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg Pittman, and Union County moving in. I believe the district as of now includes: Carter, Berean Christian, Gibbs, Harriman, Austin East, Fulton, Union County, Grace Christian, and Cosby. Losing Alcoa and Seymour has drastically changed the competition that was in 3A/AA last season but there are definitely still some talented teams. Does anyone know about the quality of the Gatlinburg Pittman, Pigeon Forge, and Union County? It seems like the top teams in the district as of now are Gibbs, Carter, and Berean; however, I do not know anything about GP, PF, or UC. Also, has anyone seen Gibbs play? You can add any other thoughts about the district as well....i hope the info I provided is corect, let me know if any changes need to be made.
  4. That is great news for the school and program! Hopefully that will bring in talent and athletes to Berean. Coach McDonald is definitely among the best coaches in Tennessee. He is a Godly man and has a very positive influence on those he coaches: it is rare to find such an excellent coach and Christian influence. Will the current Berean coach become the assistant? Best of luck to Berean the rest of the season, it will be exciting to see how the next few seasons will turn out with the new coach!
  5. It is very true that there has been a lot of talented soccer players pass through Berean, although many of them decided to transfer before middle school or high school (three from CAK, two from Gibbs, a couple at Alcoa now) . I understand their reasons for transferring, many want to attend a school with an established soccer program like CAK, Bearden, or Farragut just to name a few. Berean's high school hasn't been around for a long time plus they had co-ed soccer until 2007, and in 2008 they became TSSAA. With these things in mind, it is difficult to have a strong program right off the bat, however, they have done very well considering there are only about 100 students in the high school and many play multiple sports. For those players looking to play at the next level, playing for an average Tennessee high school isn't going to cut it, it is the club team that will get you noticed which involves attending showcases and traveling to tournaments (this makes me wonder why so many students want to transfer high schools simply beacuse of soccer??? ). More players need to focus on playing with a good club team rather than banking on a high school team to take them to the next level. Many players leave thinking they are becoming a part of a better program, and that may be the case, but if the young soccer players from Berean would stay through high school as well, then the program could truly develop. They have a young team this year but they have a knowledgeable coach and should do well in the district. I believe it will be a close run between Carter, Berean, and Gibbs this year in the district. Does anyone know anything about Gatlinburg Pittman or Pigeon Forge? Also, the decision for those two players to attend Alcoa was best for them and their family even though Berean could have benefitted form their talent! They are playing for a great program at Alcoa. I am excited to see how the district plays out.
  6. I couldnt agree with you more easttnsoccer, Taylor is a great player and deserves to be on the list. He is a very unselfish and smart player.
  7. Come on Akula...you know we need all the guys we can get /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> . We are lucky to get 1/5(20 students /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ) of our high school to watch us play. Rankinated, I appreciate the complements although Berean didnt have a great season this year. I hope they can continue to have a respectable program.
  8. Yeah man I totally agree. It is a little disappointing having such loaded districts and the blind draw at state. But I guess that is how it will have to be unless changes are made. I would have loved to see Maryville go to state and I believe they would have done well. Oldsoccerfan, to answer your question, Adelman did play for Science Hill.
  9. I didnt bash him, nothing I said was meant to insult him...I was saying that there are MANY good players in Tennessee and he is good too, but "in my opinion" there are a good amount of players I have seen that were better; however, I only got to see him play once this year, and I guess I was basing my opinion solely on seeing him play club ball last season, and from that season, I can tell you I do no think he is one of the BEST players in the state. It seems he has improved a lot and I am sorry if I assumed things too quickly. I wasnt trying to take the thread off course...Congratulations to Ryan for getting first team All District , District Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP of his team. Maryville was a VERY talented team this year and you can know that by looking at their schedule and results, but CAK beat Farragut 6 days before the Maryville game, and Hendersonville only lost 1-0 in the state tourney. Other teams have given Farragut really good games as well, even beaten them.
  10. In my opinion, Ryan Pugh should not be considered one of the best in the state...he is a good player but there are many better. What about Watson Hartsoe from Maryville...from what I have seen, he seemed to be more skilled and athletic. Once again, this is just my opinion. This list could run so long!
  11. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  12. Congratulations Alcoa...and good luck in the rounds to come! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. I would have rather not put your face with a screen name sportsnut /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ....just messin man. It was good meeting you last night Big G!
  14. Congrats Mark! Well deserved! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. Haha thats great reaction, the first time I read it, it flew right by me though. I am going to be the dare-devil of the bunch /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ... Wow...this is a hard one to predict. I believe that Alcoa will pull off a win because 1) that is my gut feeling 2) They have home-field advantage, which really can mean a lot 3) I want to see a team from district 3 A/AA win /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> 4) I believe Alcoa will have a fire and determination within them (not saying that CAK won't...im sure they will) that will be hard to put out...considering they have never been this far. CAK, however, is a very good squad and definitely has more experience in big-time games like this. I say Alcoa wins 3-2....they will have to be on top of their game tomorrow night...thats for sure. May the better Tom-G win, its time for the real Tom-G to shine!
  16. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> wow....I wish I was omnipresent...sounds like I missed an awesome game at Alcoa; however, the Carter/CAK game was incedible as well...two great games tonight. Congratulations Akula! You guys deserve it...I will be sure to make it to the Alcoa/CAK game. I guess I will forgive about the squirrels now...
  17. Coach G, I would have come up but I was a little stunned by the game haha. It was back and forth and back and forth the entire time. Great game by both teams and both coaches! That was one of the most exciting games I have been to in a LONG time. If I make to the CAK/Alcoa game, then I will be sure to give you a shout. Good thing you didnt use the Raglands to dry the field /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ...they came out strong tonight...3 goals between the brothers, wow. Once again great game and I hope to make it to the Alcoa/CAK game. When will that game be played?
  18. I believe the game is at 7 at CAK.
  19. Thats right....THE only reason /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. By the way, I am still a little upset that you didnt agree with me on a previous post weeks ago that squirrels chatter... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Ill try to get over it though.
  21. Don't feel betrayed...I was just offering a sensible solution as to how the field could be dried up haha. I gotta say I was torn between the Alcoa/Catholic and Carter/CAK game....and I had to go with the CAK/Carter only because I grew up with playing with the Carter guys and one or two CAK guys. Akula, I hope you all take down the Irish becuase I would love to see Alcoa advance. Good luck to both coaches!
  22. Wow...I guess im not much of a weather man. It seems like their hasnt been much rain because we have actually had some decent weather lately, unlike the past couple weeks. Yes, I will be at the game G....im looking forward to it!
  23. G, I say you have the Ragland brothers roll around on it...what do you say?... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Its amazing that the ground is still so wet considering we have not had heavy rain for a couple of days or more.
  24. I would love Carter to win, but i just don't see it happening. CAK should be able to get by Carter's defense without too much problem; however, can their defense shut down Mark, Adam, and Nick? I believe that is the question that has to be answered. Good luck to both teams, I believe CAK will win this one 3-1.
  25. Wow...Tyler was playing with a high ankle sprain?!?! He played a heck of a game.
