  1. Rebelyell 10 I don't know anyone on CoachT and I don't have an agenda. It is not really important to me who wins a high school football or basketball game. My son went to school at DB and played basketball there so I wish DB sports well. I do enjoy watching athletic competition. Until recently I have paid little attention to CoachT so I am not a longtime player on this platform. Also, it is not my intention to be in the future. Sweet Science makes complete sense to me. He makes intelligent, thoughtful and mature comments. Sweet Science gives good advice to all of us. I am not too old to learn from Sweet Science. My guess is that he was a very good athlete. Rebelyell 10, I didn't realize you were such a young fellow. You are not unlike others who make negative comments and don't back it up by saying what you personally have achieved. If I had followed the advice of Sweet Science I should have ignored your previous remarks directed toward me. I have been in more locker rooms than even I can remember. With that being said, I have a professional license in " smack talk". I don't think you should lose your amateur status. My next comment is intended to be completely constructive. I hope you take it that way.Put whatever your disappointment is in the rear view mirror. Find something that you really like and enjoy and direct all of your efforts into being as good as you can be at it. You will be much better off. In a previous post I said I received 56 stitches in my face my senior year in h.s. That was a typo It was only 24. I do my best to correct my mistakes. The makeup lady worked on me when I appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. I did compete very hard. When someone says negative things about me in terms of my career I find that to be very insulting. I don't insult other people unless they attack me first, Sweet Science is the man and we should benefit from his advice. I respect what he has to say.
  2. Wolves 2022 I agree with you, I lost and you won when I made a completely inappropriate remark. I know better and I made a mistake. You disrupted my mental equilibrium and poise.I have no excuse for the mistake I made. I own it. My rear end took over and that is not desirable. Take credit for what you did.It is not my first mistake and probably won't be my last. With a damaged left shoulder (still functioning OK) I am not close to any degree of black belt. I never have been and never will be. I correspond occasionally with Abdul (Kareem ) because we are friends. I spent a good amount of time with him when he was here at ETSU for civility week several years ago. You brought up Bruce Lee and I think Abdul trained with him quite a lot. As you said about me (inaccurately) I certainly never kicked the XXXX out of Bruce Lee. He could do the reverse to me with the pinky finger on his left hand. I did have 56 stitches in my face my senior year in high school. It was a rough conference I played in. Some people thought I qualified for the Adams family. I could't get out of the way of some of those fists. I was ugly and I had to sneak up on a girl to get an occasional date. I do have a friend that is constantly with me. At this time in my life it is my obsession to practice with my friend. I take him to the "club" on average 6 days a week. As a friend should be, my friend is a very reliable companion. My friend is always with me and has never let me down. I practice with my friend almost every day. This is not an accomplishment or a threat-just fact. You should not try and twist my words. On his best day Bruce Lee would be no match for my friend. I told you I was very fortunate to have been financially secure my entire professional career. Just lucky and it had nothing to do with me per say. It would have been impossible for me to have moved around the way I did on a teacher/coach salary. It would be impossible for me to live my lifestyle the way I enjoy now on a teacher/coach salary. I grew up with great parents taking care of me with very meager means. I have always been glad that I grew up this way as many people have. You gave me a ball and I entertained myself with my friends. There is a lot of politics in public school education. A public school coach is not exempt from this. I think it is a very risky job. I was not brought up around here so in my opinion I was looked on as an outsider. I certainly never felt that I enjoyed some of the opportunities that a local product enjoyed. I was able to overcome this and do it my way because I held a Royal Flush. I will keep this part short. My wife grew up in Bronxville,N.Y. It is a small village about a half hour commute by train to Manhattan. The present commissioner of the NFL lives very close to where my wife grew up. Do a little research and see what you find out. I say this because in my case the information that your father gave you happens to be completely incorrect. I wish my accountant thought the way you do. Unfortunately they don't look at it the way you do because they have financial records. I do pay a tremendous amount in taxes which benefits this area. That is a good thing. If I understand it correctly Mr. Noonesfool was a high school principal in Greenville. In my opinion there is not a job that is more important or challenging. I would like to convey my deepest respect to Mr. Noonesfool. My dad was a principal of a jr. high in FL. for almost 40 years. He definately would not have approved of some of the comments I have made on this medium. He would have taken me behind the woodshed. What Mr Noonesfool achieved is far more significant than most of us do. Certainly more than I accomplished. Much respect and many congratulations for your contributions to many people. I know Mr. Noonesfool will agree-it is critical that we respect each other. We have so much to be thankful for in this country. I know this platform is not intended to be used the way I just did. It will soon get back to what it is so hold your water. No one is forced to read or respond to anything on CoachT. You can certainly just skip over this. Thank you for your understanding. It is my intention to wish each and everyone of you the very best in this year and all the years to come. I hope that you are happy and healthy. I also hope that you might just remember me in a positive way and wish me well because it is always nice to receive well wishes. I choose to close with this thought- MY CRITICS CAN KISS MY ####!
  3. Wolves 2022 aka Circle XXXX Pro Have you purchased the rose yet and given it to Cinder Block Head who rejected you? Don't let a lack of resources stop you from doing this. I have come on this DB thread and talked about myself and listed some of my accomplishments. I offer no excuse for this. I take pride in my small contribution to DB basketball. This has obviously bothered you because I might not conform to the way you think I should be. I am glad my posts have gotten under your ugly skin. When you know that your mamma thinks your ugly it must be hard to live with yourself. Your daddy also thinks your ugly. UGLY you ain't got no alibi, your just ugly. I am not in this world to try and please you or anyone else. You made reference to some local coaches who would never talk about themselves on this platform. So what! I may conduct myself differently than they would. I have broken no laws , hurt anyone, or done anything wrong to you. What makes you so almighty special that you judge me? Mr. Judgemental, you have a deep seated inferiority complex because you are a low achiever and a disappointment. You need to join Cinder Block Head in his therapy. There are many, many people, players and coaches who have far exceeded what I accomplished. You are not one of them. I scratched and clawed to accomplish what little I did. This is a DB thread and I contributed in a small way to DB basketball by coaching at Sevier for 15 yrs. My son gave everything he had for three years in contributing to his DB basketball team's success. DB basketball has had a terrific story of success. Go DB! I knew that you would run your mouth again because it upsets you that you don't have a nickname. Let's give you one right now. Henceforth, you will be known as Circle XXXX Pro. Circle XXXX Pro why don't you go over to Cinder Block Heads house tonight and inform him of your new nickname. He and his buddies should welcome you into their group. I can imagine endless possibilites for the two of you together. We could be entertained by you submitting a video of what transpires. Please promise me that you will exhibit some respect and decorum and make sure there are no underage kids around. You and Cinder Block Head need to control your urges and concentrate on your therapy. Circle XXXX Pro don't wear out your right hand. You are a limp wristed mother XXXXXX.
  4. Rebelyell 10 I was given a nickname, The Rifleman. You deserve an appropriate nickname. Henceforth, you will be known as Cinder Block Head.
  5. Rebelyell 10 Just a quick reminder because you know I want to help you with your therapy. When you become proficient at quickly saying, "loser, wannabee, dumb ####," you will be able to spend less time looking at yourself in the mirror. This should be very helpful to you. You can even "laugh and be bored" while you are doing this. I hope that you will derive enjoyment and benefits from your sessions. That is what your well thought out treatment is targeted for. You should invite the players you say you know who "laughed and were bored" at my brother's presentation at West Ridge H.S. over to your house. Do a group video and get it on You Tube. You will be a national sensation. I do have concerns about this because with your leadership you will probably resort to getting off task and ending up doing a circle XXXX. Stay focused and on task with your therapy. It is critical that you don't let your urges get in the way of your therapy. Remember the mantra, "loser, wannabee, dumb ####." Now practice.
  6. Rebelyell 10 I am very happy that you mentioned the event at West Ridge H.S. As usual, you get confused easily because that was my twin brother. In that occasion he did a good job. That cinder block falling on your head really set you back. Since you think you are so smart and you said that you talked to all the players who attended the West Ridge event (why would they be interested in talking with you) will you tell us the names of the players that were laughing and bored. I would like to know which ones of them you think will play Division ! basketball and be All American. I would be very interested in following their career. When is the next time someone is going to ask you to speak to anyone about anything. I want to attend that debacle. You are a wannabee. I would also like to hear about your accomplishments as a basketball player. I am sure it won"t take you long. My guess is that you were laughing and bored until you got cut from the middle school tryouts. Then you went home and cried. I hope that your mamma gave you some consolation. I was going to suggest that you man up and tighten up your jock strap but I don't think you needed to wear one. I welcome you to criticize me ( common now, give me some more enjoyment ) but when you criticize DB basketball you take on the role of being a low life. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would have put 60 in your eye the first half until I got warmed up. Coach Poore is an outstanding person and coach. DB is fortunate to have him as their coach. My son was the co-captain of the DB basketball team his senior year. His junior and senior year his team played in the state tournament. Jeff was very proud to play for DB. Jeff competed against Chris Poore. Chris was an outstanding basketball player. Rebelyell10 (inappropriate and dumb #### name) are you starting to understand that I will always recognize and applaud other peoples success and speak positively about it. I just have a distaste for critical and judgemental people, especially ones like you who have accomplished so little. That cinder block accident sure screwed you up. You make reference to players quitting at DB. That will always happen. It is not the end of the world.Do you think those players were laughing and bored when someone was trying to coach them? Rebelyell10 remember to continue your therapy. You are to look in your mirror and repeat as many times as it takes to sink in your damaged head," I am a loser, I am a wannabee, and I am a dumb #### " .
  7. Wolves 2022 I can't stress enough how important it is for you to become a better critic. I have one tattoo and it is located on my left shoulder. It says All American. If you make an appointment with me I might let you rub it. It is possible it could bring you good luck. Now go buy that rose.
  8. Wolves 2022 You are not even a good critic. You are on a sports platform as a critic because you are a low achiever. You became a disappointment in the face of all the apparent good advice your father gave you. Somewhere in your past you developed a poor self concept and poor image of yourself so you decided to be a critic. You are critical and judgemental of others because you are a jealous and envious person. Work hard at something and get good at it and you might feel better about yourself. Then you might be less critical of others. I think that will be a very difficult task for you because you dwell in self pity. It is obvious that I really bother you so try and get over it for your own well being. People who have not been in the arena and fought the bull often want to project their feelings of inadequacy and their critical thoughts on others. You could even work at becoming a better critic because that is what you have chosen to do. At this point you are a poor critic but you could improve yourself. Since you live in the present get off your rear end and go buy a rose for whoever rejected you. If you don't have enough resources take out a loan. I'll wager your money, assuming that you have any, that like other things in your life that you don't get this done.
  9. WaCo Since I am no longer interested in discussing anything with Rebelyell 10 please convey to him the following two messages. 1) Brandon Reed was probably the best at running around the Volunteer gym with a cinder block balanced on his head. That is why he was such a terrific player. 2) Please let Rebelyell 10 know that it is important to continue his therapy. At 7P.M. tonight he is supposed to look in his bathroom mirror and repeat ten times, " I am a loser and a dumb #### ". After that he can go to his backdoor and shout a rebel yell.
  10. Rebelyell 10 I wish you hadn't let that information out because that was one reason my players at Volunteer won so many games. They worked hard and got in very good condition, I was very fortunate to have been their coach. If you are doing that to try and get in some condition I hope that the cinder block doesn't fall on your head. You need to retain all of your meager mental faculties. I now understand why you call yourself Rebelyell 10. I do think a cinder block fell on your head and like a baby you wimpered a rebel yell ten times. I hope you have recovered from that nasty incident. Obviously you love attention and you are not worth any more of my time. WaCo thinks you are a loser. I simply think that you are a dumb ####.
  11. Wolves 2022 I want to apologize to you because I could have handled my response to your statement pertaining to me that I "never accomplished nothing" at Volunteer in a much better way. You have every right in the world to think and say whatever you want about me. I wish I hadn't responded the way I did. I will learn from this and hopefully do better. A college scholarship in sports and the GI Bill enabled me to earn two bachelor's degrees and two master's degrees. They are my greatest accomplishments. My master's degrees are in education and social work. I had the opportunity to earn those degrees (in total it took me 9 years) and financially everything was paid for, so I was debt free in terms of my college work. My motivation in my work was to help and enhance people to do their best, not criticize others. You said that "you would wager any amount I have (meaning me) that coaches such as Buck, Dickie, Bobby, Charlie and George would never get on this post and brag their accomplishments. Only me!" You probably make a good point, and I never disputed your statement. I knew each of these individuals and had respect for each on them. I coached against "Dickie, Charlie, Bobby, and George" and each had tremendous success. I am happy when other people are successful because I am not a jealous person. I had a particularly good relationship with Dickie Warren. I miss him. I am not from this area and I felt I was treated as an outsider at times. I didn't try to emulate any local coach. I carved out my own niche and always did it my way. Sometimes there might have been consequences for that.I was never worried about my job because I was financially secure from the beginning of my career. In coaching I just wanted my team to win and I didn't care what anyone thought about the way I went about it. If I wasn't happy where I was I figured there was always another job. It worked out for me. You said that you would wager any amount I have { meaning me } that Buck, Dickie, Charlie, Bobby, and George would never brag about their accomplishments. I think that is a wonderful endorsement of each of these fine coaches and people. As for me I don't ever remember caring what they thought. I was too involved with my team Each of us are different as individuals and I did it my way. I have always been secure with myself,I never tried to please people like you or anyone else. I just wanted my team to win. Please be advised that I won't allow you to wager my money, I happen to be a multi, multi, multi, millionaire because my wife is from the John Deere family. She gives me a very generous allowance and I get to do whatever I want, Wager your own money and don't think about wagering mine, That ain't going to happen, In all my posts I never said once I was a better player or coach than anyone. I am not an expert on anything until I am at least 2,000 miles away from my bride. I have been married almost 55 years. You might think about that strategy. As Coach Knight once said, " When my time on earth is done, and all my activities have come to pass, I want they bury me upside down, and my critics can Kiss My ####." WaCo- you are the best.Keep up the great work. The asylum always needs your erudite comments.
  12. Wolves 2022, I did see your critical response to my post. I have no problems with negative remarks directed my way. Are you OK? I don't know who you are, where you went to school, or what kind of an education you received. Do you have critical thinking skills? My initial impression is that you should have paid more attention in English class. You have an opportunity here to tell us about your accomplishments. I referenced John Sevier Middle School in my post because it was entered on a DB thread. I do hope that you have the intellectual capacity to understand that. Since you requested it, I will refer to my time at Volunteer High School. When I started coaching basketball at Volunteer, the school had experienced one winning season in 17 years. There had been no conference championships and no district wins. Bill Lane wasn't writing about Volunteer as a basketball powerhouse. I agree with you that I did have some of the best players to ever come through Volunteer. Those players won several conference and district championships, and we competed in the sub-state twice in my five years at Volunteer. In my time at Volunteer, each team had a winning season. Four of the five seasons I was coach, we won over 20 games. We were 15 and 2 against Central High School, 15 and 1 against Hapy Valley, and had a winning record against Daniel Boone. We had a victory over Dobyns Bennett which I think was the first in school history. At least eight of my Volunteer players received scholarships to play college basketball. You decided to say those players "never accomplished nothing"! I do think you need to take a remedial course in English. Are you OK? Do you really want to tell those players that they "never accomplished nothing"? In contrast, I think they accomplished a great deal. If you remember me wearing a shirt that had all my accomplishments on it, it must have been an extra, extra, extra, extra large shirt. Who does that? Only me! When you order your extra, extra, extra small shirt to list your accomplishments, will there be anything on it? Are you OK? Since you seem to think that you can evaluate basketball talent, please let us know your qualifications.
  13. I was motivated to write this when I read that John Sevier Middle School has some promising basketball players. My basketball journey started in the 9th grade when I lived in St. Petersburg FL. I attended a large high school (5000+ students) and was the first sophomore to start on the varsity. Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg offered terrific athletic competition as there was an abundance of really good athletes. I learned early that if you didn't have the talent, fundamentals, conditioning and mental toughness to compete, you would get your rear-end handed to you. I thrived in that environment. I benefitted from great parents, great coaches, and a support network second to none. There have been very few high school athletes who have enjoyed more opportunities than I was presented with. Notice that I haven't said I was better than anyone. In high school I worked extremely hard every day to enhance my skills as a basketball player. Most days I got up at 5 AM and practiced many hours each day. It paid off, I was offered over 200 Division One scholarships. I made 57 straight foul shots in game competition. In 1963 I was on the Ed Sullivan Show as a first team Parade All American player. There were five of us, and Lew Alcindor was part of that group as a 15 year old sophomore from Power Memorial High School in New York City. I decided to attend UNC and became Dean Smith's first high school All American recruit. In high school the fans gave me a nickname, The Rifleman. I led the nation in scoring my junior and senior years. I shot 65% from the floor with everyone trying to stop me. If I had played with the 3-point shot in effect, I would have averaged over 50 points. You have to have confidence and believe in yourself if you are to become a really good shooter. It has to be achieved by hard work and learning how to execute the fundamentals the correct way. After serving in the military and doing social work with foster kids in New Hampshire, my first teaching/coaching position was at John Sevier Middle School. I was blessed and honored to have had the opportunity to coach so many high character young men for 15 years. When I coached at Sevier, my basketball teams won 96% of their games. We had three undefeated teams. I don't know of any basketball team in Tennessee that has won 96% of their games for 15 years. If a team has achieved this, they certainly developed a winning culture. My teams at Sevier lost to Johnson City only twice in 15 years. Those were the same players who won state championships under George Pitts. Who's your Daddy? I want to give credit to the coaches I learned from. I played for three Hall of Fame college coaches: Dean Smith, Larry Brown and Hugh Durham. Billy Cunningham and Dave Cowens were teammates of mine in college. I got to compete against Pat Riley, Louie Dampier, Jon McGlothlin, Tom and Dick Van Arsdale, JoJo White and many other really good players. I played against Duke five times, and we won each game. I played against Kentucky once, and we won by 15 points. My job was to guard Louie Dampier, and he didn't score a point. I did my job! I will close by saying John Sevier Middle School will always have a special place in my heart. Every player who played for me was a very special person. Thank you for providing me with so many great memories. I do hope that I made a difference in your life as a basketball player, and more importantly as a student/athlete and person. I wish the best for every young man and young lady playing basketball in this area. As Dave Cowens often said, "Show me what you've got!" Ian Morrison - Coach Mo
  14. I hope all of you have enjoyed a Happy New Year. I just returned from St. Petersburg FL where I was invited to work with my old high school's varsity basketball team. The present team has an excellent chance to win a state championship. They have three Division One prospects and a lot of other talent. I will always remember being lucky enough to represent that school in front of 71 million people watching The Ed Sullivan Show. Sometimes desire and determination pay off when you work at something eight hours every day. I see locally where we have a flat tire, two tires completely off the rim, and a fourth tire put on #### backwards. When there is something weird in the neighborhood, and it don't look good, who ya gonna call? Not the school board silly. You will have a better chance with the more informed Ghostbusters. I wish I could have been a better basketball coach - Sevier and Volunteer would never have lost a single game.
  15. Art, I am entering this to say "hi" because you are my bleacher buddy. I am going to take exception to a statement you made but I don't mean ill will toward you. It is my belief that no one wins an argument ( I haven't won an argument with my wife in 44 years so I quite trying ) and so you certainly don't have to agree with what I'm going to say.You stated that the Indians have ''good to great shooters''. Even though you watch a lot of basketball I don't think you've seen a great shooter in a long time, because I haven't. I will tell you why I can evaluate a shooter. When I came out of high school I was recognized as the best shooter in the country. I shot 95 percent from the free throw line. That included making 57 free throws in a row in game competition '' a national record at the time ''. i shot 65 percent from the field with everyone trying to stop me. I made sure my team won or I knew I wouldn't make First Team Parade ALL American. When Ray Mears was TN's basketball coach, his top recruiter Tommy Bartlett came to Florida and saw me score 55 points against Clearwater H.S. I missed three field goal attempts the entire game. Clearwater H.S. had three guys who played DIV.1 basketball. Tommy Barlett reported to Ray Mears that "my performance was as good as any he'd ever seen by a high school player". I achieved this by waking up at 5 a.m. every morning and shooting eight hours a day. Iwas a "shooting instructor" at Dean Smith's basketball camps for 25 years. If there was a " great shooter" at DB he would be recruited by many DIV. 1 programs because there are very few kids committed and dedicated enough, along with the necessary eye/hand coordination, to be a " great shooter".Kids aren"t worthy of being called "great" unless they've worked incredibly hard to warrant that distinction. I also don't think many ,if any, local high school coaches know how to teach kids the proper way to shoot a basketball. They simply don't have the background to be able to teach a kid the proper way to shoot. I will offer another opinion. George Pitts is one of the finest coaches I have seen at any level. Yes, I think I know something about how great coaches do things because I was coached by Larry Brown and Dean Smith-obviously Hall of Fame coaches. Why in the last ten years or more doesn't DB have any kids successfully playing college basketball at some level? When I coached at Volunteer H. S. for five years I had eight kids play small college ball( King, Milligan, Tusculum etc. ) When I arrived there they had experienced one team that had a winning season in 17 years. We went to sub-state two of my five years and won the conference (AA class ) three years. When I coached at Sevier we played Liberty Bell four times a year. Our record against them for 15 years was 58 wins and 2 losses. I see where DB lost to Jefferson County today. That just illustrates my point. If DB has "great shooters" and they are coached to achieve good shot selection how do they lose to Jefferson County? Help me understand. I do hope you guys will do better at some point against Science Hill. They just obviously dominate DB's program . I am sure, well not really, that DB will beat Science Hill a couple times sometime in the future. The odds are not to lose time after time. You should beat this years Science Hill team. I can't understand losing to them at all this year. Art,
  16. It sounds like you have a case of gold balls and you should go see your doctor. I have heard of blue balls but not gold balls. I don't think it's healthy to keep polishing your balls until they turn gold. Now take better care of yourself.
  17. I will tell you about the Volunteer years. Richmond and Morelock played college ball. Where did you say you played college ball?
  18. Batman, your kids are lucky to have you as their father. I sincerely mean that and I wish you and your family a Great Thanksgiving.
  19. One of the few virtues I have is that I am extremely loyal and appreciative of anyone who has been nice to me. More importantly, if someone has been nice to anyone in my family I will always remember it and be thankful to them. When I was a young coach I used to run to Sevier from Colonial Heights and meet Graham Clark and run some more with him..He was always nice to me and he was extremely nice to my son, Jeff, when Jeff attended DB. Jeff did not play football but that made no difference to Coach Clark. Coach Clark is a lot better person and a lot better coach than I ever was. Coach Clark has never needed any help from me. He is tough and a good coach and he will come back better than ever. More importantly he will continue to help all the young people in his charge make good decisions and become constructive citizens whether they play football or not. DB is lucky to have Coach Clark as their football coach. Graham, thanks for being so nice to my son,Jeff. Now I have intentionally given you enough fodder in the past to criticize me. Since I don't have a job bring on the negatives and direct them to me. Batman, I wish you continued luck in your constant struggle of good vs. evil. It must be exhausting but that is what Batman does. I wish I was as humble and good as you are but I'm not. Load up that "Batmobile" with presents and help those less fortunate than you. I applaud your good deeds.
  20. Art, it is good connecting with you on CoachT and learning that all is well with you. You are my bleacher buddy at DB, and I appreciate your sharing the nice comments Bruce Tranbarger made about me. He is a super person, and he comes from a great family. I was blessed to be able to coach him early in my career. He could score on anyone, but more importantly he was the ultimate team player. of course, we never lost to Johnson City when Bruce played for me. We didn't lose to anyone else either. Bruce was the leader of my first undefeated team. If Bruce, DB's all-time leading scorer, designated me as the best coach he ever had, that just shows you how intelligent Bruce is. Now for "the hill23" who I heard from in cyber space a year or so ago. I appreciate your comments about me. i want to remind you that I informed you more than a year ago that i no longer wear that t-shirt you're referring to listing all my accomplishments because even though it was extra, extra, extra large, I had additional accomplishments and i couldn't fit them all on that shirt. As far as tooting my own horn, I don't do that any more. I blow a big ole tuba because it makes more noise. I hope that you can remember all this. Sometimes I like to say whatever is on my mind because I just feel like it. I hope it doesn't bother you a great deal. I am not a good person because I brag too much and I am narcissistic. My wife has tried to help me for years, but I only listen to her about half the time. That is my secret to being married 44 years. I am a sinner and I tried to repent several years ago, but it didn't work for me. I have never done drugs, but I grew up in Florida and all that sunshine gave me a natural high. I just feel happy and good about myself. Now, let's briefly talk shirts again. Since you are interested in my wearing a shirt listing all my accomplishments, why don't you buy me a shirt and list all the times my teams beat Johnson City. You better purchase a really large shirt because it will require a long list. Please send that shirt to the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce in care of Coach Mo. I promise I will wear it. I know that you are a good person, and I want to share one more thing with you. I want to brag about my special visionary powers and you are the first person I've ever told about this. I can see it very clearly. You are trying to guard me in a basketball game when I am in my prime and tearing people up on the hardcourt. I light you up like a Christmas tree and drop 70 on you before halftime. You start crying on the court and your coach takes you out of the game and accuses you of playing matador defense. He says, "Son, you let the bull run wild, now sit the bench the second half and relax". Everytime you tried to guard me, I jacked up that beautiful jump shot and said "In your eye, sucker". I did miss three shots that first half because I got a little bored and lost focus. To All have a great Thanksgiving.
  21. I understand that this is a football site, but I will post here anyway because there are those who are commenting on DB sports. It is my opinion that a high school coach has his work cut out for himself concentrating on the here and now and building for future success. When you talk about teams or players in the past, you should nave nothing but positives to say or you should keep your mouth shut. I was disappointed when I read the comments in today's basketball edition written by Pat Kenney and quoting Coach Morgan as saying "In the past we've had participants and hot a lot of players". Coach Morgan was either misquoted or, in my opinion, he made a stupid comment. I thought coaches are paid and responsible for turning participants into players. As you might know, I coached basketball at John Sevier for 15 years, and we lost to Liberty Bell (a consolidated Johnson City middle school) twice in those 15 years. Each time we lost I took responsibility for the loss, and the next time we played them my team kicked their ####. Now that's a fact, Jack. i believed it was my job to turn participants into players. I thought we should never lose to Johnson City ever. If we ever lost to a team over five straight times, I would simply say I sucked as a coach. My son, jeff, played for Coach Morgan at DB. He might not have been a Parade First Team All-American, a national high school player of the year, the recipient of every Division I scholarship in the nation, or appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, but he was a player. He simply always tried his hardest to do what his coach requested, and he wanted his team to be the best it could be. DB went to the state basketball playoffs in Jeff's junior and senior years. Each time they lost to White Station who had more talent and was better coached. My message here is that if you coach, it is your job to turn those participants into players.
  22. @ dbfanforlife - I appreciate hearing from you on an earlier post. I hope that you had a great experience playing for me on one of my early teams at John Sevier Middle School. I have tremendous memories of working with all the student athletes at JSMS. This YouTube clip of my appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show I hope will be of interest to you since you played for me. Happy Holidays to all you guys, Coach Mo Rio, I sincerely hope that you are having a real successful year coaching your team. All the best.
  23. Rio,Now everyone can tell you are not a person of your word. You stated you would not post again and you did so. I knew from your first post that you are way over your head. Your initial instinct to shut up would have served you well. Thank you for letting us know that you graduated with honors. In this current day you probably graduated magna cum laude in English.Again, from your last post you continually butcher the English language. Tell us where you teach so that I can contact the State Dept. of Education and register a complaint. I am a taxpayer. I'm more concerned about your teaching ability than your lack of success as a basketball coach. Please don't flatter yourself and think you have gotten underneath my skin. I don't think you have accomplished nearly enough to be able to do that. It doesn't surprise me that you are knowledgeable about Viagra. If you wear an extra small jock and sit on the bench for extended periods of time it tends to cut off circulation. You also need to get a larger hat size. The blood circulation to your brain is obviously also a problem. You should work on lesson plans the rest of the afternoon so that for once you are prepared to teach. Please tell us where you teach so that I can call your principal and tell him to read your posts. Now before you get over your head again you should work on your lesson plans.
  24. Let's shorten it to Rio. I think you are making an excellent decision to get off of here. You are making progress in your reading comprehension because you noted I am retired. I am not teaching anyone. In an earlier post I mentioned I fell off a turnip truck. Apparently you are presently teaching and that is what has me concerned. I don't know how you received your master's degree either. You established the fact that the east isn't going to produce "too" many state titles in basketball. That does need to be plural, coach. Since you are intelligently checking out I won't ask you where you received your masters degree. I just hope that you are not currently teaching high school English.
