  1. I suspect something like that. There are a lot of things going on behind the scene. You have a principal that is more than likely moving into the Director of Schools slot in March. You have a school board that is in shambles with death threats and all kind of nonsense going on over the textbooks that they have approved. You have a Chairman of the School Board who has a kid on the team, who wants to be a asst coach. And then finally a applicant who is a black stabbing trouble maker who would do whatever to get the job. I talked to a School Board Member today that made it very clear that something was going on with the hire and this person did not want their name associated with the process in any way. That tells me that this was a back channel, 11th hour deal that was strong armed through. Otherwise, if it was such a great hire, as described in the newspaper, why would a board member run from the hiring instead of supporting the decision? Trust me, this has a lot of people seeing red and I would not want to be running for reelection if I were these board members
  2. I did not have anyone in mind. Don't even know who all applied but, there would not be many any worse. What about the Cotten kid that came over from your program? He seemed to do a good job and the players were all in his corner, was my understanding. I don't have a kid in the program now ( thank God). Lowery is just not what you want your kids around when teaching good sportsmanship and trying to mold kids into adults. Ask some of the coaches that he coached against in basketball. Be up 40 or more points in the second half and running a full court press. That's real classy If he was such a good fit, why was he not on staff already? If he was such a great hire, why was he not hired before now?. He had applied several times before. If he was a great visionary, why was he fired from the staff 4 or 5 years ago. If he was such a supporter of the program, why was he not more involved in the program? Why would you take a struggling program and give it to someone with NO head coaching backround? Why a guy near retirement age? These are just questions that i have. It just appears that the fix was in on this one..
  3. This hire was neither expected or welcomed. Why would they hire this guy? He has been fired as an asst. coach multiple times. My son played while he was on staff a few years ago and said that Lowery was a joke and had no business being a coach. He said that Lowery was in charge of calling plays at the JV games and just told the players to call their own plays. I have talked to several people and there is no support for this hire. 15 to 20 of the players said that they will not play for this coach next year. I thought that the White County Program had hit bottom a few years ago and they were on their way back up. Yesterday marks a new bottom for this program. I feel so sorry for these kids!
  4. I hope that LA connection can tilt the scales in White Co. favor a little Friday night!!!!
  5. That's the way it looks me also. Secondary will have to step up!!
  6. Stone can be described as #6 and 10 other guys.
  7. Well this week will tell us a little bit about where the White Co program is. This one is too close to call in my opinion. White Co looks like they have the chance to be a good ball team. Still a long way to go however. They were slow to start against York, but did get it going. The game was never close. Certainly not as close as the score. LA has some speed and a QB that can throw the long ball. Give the line play to White Co. Give the overall speed to LA. I would have to say the White Co defense is a little ahead of LA. QB play would go to LA. Should be a good game.
  8. I have seen the film. You can not use the words "tough" and " Stone" in the same sentence !!
  9. Well, have not been around enough this year to know enough to make a prediction. All I can go on is what I saw last year. Unless there has been some miracle in York country, I don't see York taking this one. I'm sure that based on what I have heard, that the Dragons are much improved, but the gap was so wide between the two that I think White Co has the edge. All I can add is I hope that it's a good game and at the end no player is hurt. Can't wait for kick off!!
  10. Do you really think that White Co,( or Upperman ), put a lot of effort into that jamboree. I'm sure York coaches were sitting there watching? I can't speak for the coach but, I would say that you seen nothing!!!
  11. Yea, it's really more sad than funny. that fact that someone could even type those words is unbelievable. The one major factor that is holding the high school program back, and someone could post that. I only hope it was a joke, but who knows
  12. WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING!!!!!!!!!! Nuff said!
  13. What's the word on the Warriors this year. I went by for a few minutes of the Trousdale Co scrim. The part that I saw was pretty much drills. I did see the lines working. White Co looked to be taking care of the Trousdale Line. I was pretty impressed. Trousdale is pretty tough year in and year out. Did anybody see the main part of the scrimmage?
  14. I would like to see it just a bit cooler. It hurts just a little bit worse when three or four Warriors clean you clock play after play. Win or lose, those boys from Cleveland will have no doubt in their minds that they have been in a battle!!
  15. My last post was in no way intended to be any "lead slinging". I have the greatest respect for the Cleveland team. In my opinion, if all things equal ( turnovers, penalties, mistakes) Cleveland wins 10 out or 10 games. But as we all know, things happen. White County could come out and play a great game and keep it close and see what happens. I can tell you that it will not be a game dominated by White Co. and that post of 31-0 White Co. Is wishful thinking by some Rhea Co fan. I wish both teams luck and safe travel to the Cleveland team and their fans. May it be a good game with no injuries. Go Warriors!!!
  16. Ok,first off i want to say how proud I am of this Warrior team. Excellent job Friday night and all year for that matter. Second thing is , it's really nice to see the defense at the top of the heap. They have really stepped it up this season. Now to address a couple of things that I have read on this thread so far. What the Cleveland people don't understand is< White Co. has already won! This team has capped off what last years team started. The tone has been changed here. Being an ok football team is not good enough now. I don't feel that this team is anymore tallented than the ones before, but the mindset is totally different. To these kids who they play is not the issue, it"s how they play that matters. Cleveland should by all rights come into Sparta and have a cake walk next Friday night. I bet that don't happen, and I will go one further and say that win or lose Cleveland will go back home licking alot of wounds. White Co. is just that phyical. If you don't belive me, call some of the teams that they have played. And for what it's worth, neither of these teams will make it very far in the playoffs. For White Co., thats ok. If they can win this Friday night( and I think that they could) it will be like winning a state championship. If Cleveland wins, congradulations. You're a one and done ! Go Warriors!!!!
  17. I hope so Alumn89. This is the biggest game I can remember in years. I really like that they made this this last game of the year. I could not have worked out better, unless it was for the district champs. This is what you hope for. I hope that the stands are full and the track is full. I wish you the best of luck and that no player is injured. Go Warriors!!
  18. If you will check, you will find that the attendance is down. not my opinion it is shown in the records. There has been one game that met the gates from three years ago and that was the Livingston game. Then you look at the win and loss record of the team three years ago,you would think that this year would be much better.
  19. You are exactly right deadI, The program has been down for so long that it is a slow process to get butts in the seats. Not to mention that now people can sit at home and watch it live. Don't know who's bad decision that was but the football program is the one suffering the effects. I would be interested in seeing the decline in gates at the White Co. home games now and two years ago. All you have to do is look at the bleachers and you can tell it has cut attendance. But having said that Cookeville is not much better. I was talking to someone from Cookeville and they were saying that it hard to get people excited there and always had been. This is a huge game for both teams. I hope that the fans come out at least once this year
  20. Well it's Sunday night, i see no use in putting it off any longer! What's your thoughts for this game. Pretty big game for both. Can White County come out and make a statement for the playoffs? They would be making history with a win. it should put them hosting a playoff game.Thats never happened before. Runnerup for the district on the line for both. teams should be jacked up for this one. I'm not really putting much on the rivaliry, yea I know it's there but really, Cookeville should walk through this game every year. I've seen White Co. give them all they wanted plenty of times. Matterof fact I think White Co. would have won the game last year if the White Co. QB had not suffered the broken leg. I just hope it the game it should be and that everyone avoids injury
  21. You know, for the past few years I have wondered what was the problem with Warren County Football. If "statsdontlie" is the example of the climate with the parents there, my question has been answered!!!!!
  22. Should not be any problem to get the win this week. Was glad to see that the team looked like they came out focused and ready to play last night. The boys need to do the same this week and use this to tune up for the trip to Chatt in two weeks. That game will be the test to find out where this team stands. The coach put the ball in the air a little last night and that was good to see. Looked like everything was simple and high precentage stuff. Maybe that will help the QB get a little shot in the arm. it may be simple stuff, but the def still has to honor the threat and that can do nothing but help the run game. Great to see them at 5-1 and can't wait for Fri night
  23. Ok, it's homecoming week, but more than that it is a week for the team to get 5-1. It's a week full of distractions. It will be a good measure of how much this team has grown. I hope to see them come out with some fire and carry it through the entire game. Good win last week, but like I have said before, not at the level they need to be yet. Don't get me wrong, i'm really proud of what they have done so far but, I want to see them take that next step. I want to see these seniors and starters teach the kids for next year and the years following to become winners and have that air about them that they are going to win every time they step on the field. It's been years since that was the case here. As for this Fri, I think it another win. We still have some problems, loss of focus, secondary play is weak, and QB spot is a MAJOR problem. Teams are going to continue to put 9,10,11 in the box and dare us to throw the ball. And judging from what I seen Fri, we just are not going to put it in the air. Can you imagine what the rushing game would look like if we could just throw it a little bit? I know the QB is a senior but, for the good of the team, this Fri could be a good time to put the Fresh QB in and see where he is. Good luck Warriors, I'll be there supporting you
  24. Well, White Co did just what i thought they might. They pay down to the other team. It's happened every game this year. You could see it on the field. After that first TD they took the "we got this" attitude. It didn't bite them last night, but it will before this years over. I know that these kid are not used to winning and they don't know what it's like to put your foot on the throat of another team, but they better learn if they want to take the next step. I was shocked that Warren could not rush the ball. Great looking line and a couple of backs that have way above avg rushing ability. QB is the real deal, just nothing to go with them. Much improved from last year!!
