Preseason games have started to unfold. Are there any scores out there?

I think that was a pretty fair post there. At first glance. this district does seem to be broken up into two tiers. Riverdale, Siegel, and La Vergne should be the cream of the group. Breaking it down between these 3 teams is where it gets hard. All teams lost key players that were instrumental to each team's success. Regardless. I see this district shaping out as one of the most competitive districts in the state 1&2. Siegel or Riverdale (Both teams lost someone important. but are also returning plenty of experience in key positions) 3. La Vergne (I just feel like the loss of Guerra will have more of an effect to this team) 4. Blackman (Potential dark horse team. Even without Zeeck.I would not overlook this team) 5. Oakland (Too much youth this season. Still. Look for the forward McCollom to have a solid year. Very quick and knows how to finnish) 6. Smyrna (My lack of knowledge about any of their players leaves me no alternative but to put them at the bottom still does not mean that they couldnt make a run) With this said. It is not even January yet. So what i say now. Please do not hold it against me come may

great game by both teams tonight. but good thing you didnt say anything about that goal. It was a spectacular finnish. I think Siegels midfield is what really made the difference And the talk about district. I was one that put riverdale low. I take full accountability for my stupidity. I underestimated Ali. They are a great team

just looking ahead to the week. This is what we have been waiting to see. Huge District match ups this week. Siegel V LaVergne. Oakland V Riverdale. Siegel V Blackman. All of these seem like they will be great games to watch. Hopefully i will be able to catch them all. But lets start with Siegel V LaVergne. What are some predictions?

Siegel 6 Smyrna 1

You know facts. i think i will actually have to agree with you. While Oakland has played top teams like Father Ryan and PJII tonight. And siegel having an extremely tough schedule. It has seemed that Blackman's schedule has been particularly weak. But with that said. Vice is an accomplished coach. So i dont doubt anything he does

Ravenwood is completely out of the rankings? hmmm I see something a little wrong with that

I attended this game. Good, hard, physical game. Blackman failed to finnish some key chances that would have won the game for them. Still, Zeeke did not seem to be in that elite form i saw him in last year. If he can become that DOMINANT forward again, Blackman could be dangerous

TheFactsOnly Since you are dying for my legendary evaluation. i guess i can grant you your wish. Riverdale-Just like Armand does Everyyear. He has Riverdale into shape going strong into districts.With already one district win in the bag against Smyrna, and a 7-0 smashing of Colombia (Regardless if they are missing a top player. 7-0 is good outcome). Excited to see the Outcome of tomorrows match against La Vergne. La Vergne- Still have not seen the team in person, but scores do impress. WIth already 1 district win. I think tomorrows game against Riverdale will give a true evaluation of how good they are. Siegel- Although the record is lacking, i would still not overlook this team. 3 of their losses were against the top 10 teams in state. And their schedule does not get much better with the Knoxville Tournament this weekend. With all of this competition against top teams should have siegel primed and ready when district comes rolling around. Blackman and Oakland- I will do these two together because i am actually about to make my own trip to this game tonight. I expect an intriguing match up with Sanders in the back and Zeeck up top. I will make a claim again later on these teams. Smyrna- Do not know much about about them like La Vergne. 4-0 is a tough loss to start off districts. I would more say the reason why I think Riverdale is weak is not that they lost Compton. It is what you stated. Loss to Coffee County, 5-0 to Hendersonville. That shows for a concern. Still i think what Liverpool said is exactly correct. This district is still very much up for grabs. Whoever comes to play every game will most likely see themselves on top

so now the week in review. Blackman impressed me. I might not know how good Franklin County is. but regardless. 4-0 is a quality score Oakland won earlier this week. but have a tough tough game tonight against Father Ryan so i am curious to see how they do. Riverdale. They won a game early this week. but 0-3 against Centennial is a Tough loss. Siegel won 3-1 against Baylor which is a quality win against a quality opponent. Last night i think they lost 1-0 against a sure state bound team in Ravenwood. Which is still not a bad loss LaVergne lost to Centennial 4-0 and then Tied Clarksville 2-2. So early season struggle for LaVergne. But still against quality opponents. still would like to see them myself before i make my own claim on how good they are Smyrna tied Dickson County 1-1 so not a bad start for them I am still eager to see how all of these teams progress throughout the season

For one. Brentwood was last years state runner ups. and they are from 11AAA. so think you are a little confused on that. Also, If you are refering to Coach Shelton (Siegel's Coach) i might not know him to well, but he does seem a little young to be having a kid that is already in highschool.. so once again i dont quite follow what you are saying. And 3rd. Pretty sure i stated earlier, that I didnt think Riverdale would be good this year? So dont know where you are coming from again my friend. so are you going to have anything to back up what you say? i can see you putting Siegel as three, but have a reason to support your choice.(like a weakness you see in them, or the other teams that you think are stronger and why) and dont just put Siegel as third because you dont like them

in preseason games, when they dont mean anything to begin with. You see how good teams are by watching how they are competing with teams. Siegel beat brentwood 1 0 (#2 team in AAA in preseason poll) and tied father ryan (#2 team in All of Tennessee in the poll) I know they arent scoring, i said that. (if you would read what i say before trying to rip on me, you would have seen that) But atleast what they are doing is more impressive than losing 5 0 to hendersonville or ravenwood. And definately more impressive than losing to coffee county? THAT is why i said Siegel is impressing

Now that teams have played some. What are people thinking? From what the scores have shown, Riverdale and Oakland have been struggling. I went to the riverdale hendersonville game, and Hendersonville seemed in a different league Siegel has really impressed me with the scores they have posted. Nothing extravagent, but they are competeting well with the top teams in Tennessee according to the preseason poll, even beat brentwood. Still seems like they are struggling with scoring, as usual. I still need to get out to see a game to make a real claim on how good they are. How are other teams in district doing?

If i had to pick something, i would just say riverdale is clearly a weaker team this year

last year i watched 3 different riverdale games. and they were a good team last year. but the sole reason they won 15 games was for compton. Riverdale had a sweeper who could kick the ball out ( eli or something?) they had one midfielder (compton) and they had one forward (platez). The rest of the team was full of underclassmen role players. Compton and Eli are gone now and all they have are a bunch of role players and platez. Unless Riverdale has a player in the midfield step up and a player in the back step up. I dont see them going far. This past weekend i went and saw the Division 1 state tournament in Murfreesboro. The strikers 92 is the only murfreesboro team in D1 and although they didnt win. I was impressed by how they played competing against the best teams in state. The strikers team is made out of 85% siegel and 15% oakland. Thats why i think siegel will be top this year. They are playing the best in travel season, so most likely the expierence they are gaining will translate over to school season.

just looking at your prediction, i am left with a few question. riverdale loses compton (who was pretty much the only thing they had) and is your top team. Who does riverdale have now? you have platez mixed in with a bunch of overrated young players who are yet to prove anything themselves. the team i see as a huge factor in this district is siegel. They have young players who have actually proved themselves. producing this districts past two top jv teams. I know there is a big difference between jv and varsity. but something just tells me that this year. siegel will live up to their talent level.unlike past seasons. so here is my prediction 1.Siegel/ La Vergne ( boths teams i see with alot of potential and its to early to decide on either one) 3.Oakland/blackmon( blackmon has a strong forward and oakland has some pieces of the puzzle if they can just put it together) 5.riverdale (just need to have those young skilled players prove something without compton running the show) 6.Smyrna (just got switched into a tough district)

i agree riverdale should handle frankin Co pretty easy but siegel will be motivated to get to the finals and get another chance at riverdale which i think they will get Riverdale 1 Siegel 3

What players should Siegel look out for coming in to tonight's game?

the game is scheduled to be at riverdale at 7 tonight.. so far it has not been cancelled and hopefully the rain will stay away so this game can be played. i am definately looking forward to it both teams have been playing well all season. the ultimate question i think that can decide tonights game is if siegel can finish thier chances good luck to both teams though

Doesn't really matter now that oakland still won. But number 7 from lebanon got his second yellow by taking his shirt off after a perfect opportunity to tie the game up with less than 2 minutes to play. Great effort by Oakland though to push through. And whoever said it will be a blood bath between oakland and siegel is wrong. If oakland plays their game, they have a decent chance of winning. Siegel has not played in a while and should come out hungry for goals and wanting to score at every opportunity. Another question: If Siegel's and Oakland's game keep getting moved back, will Siegel advance because of higher seed? Someone explain the TSSAA rules on the question.

Please tell me if the district championship game is on Saturday. Do the players really need a day rest in between the first and semi round games? The championship game should be Friday so that they have a day's rest in between the semis and finals.

Great win for Siegel. They really needed this win to be in the running to tie for top seed. I did not get to go but heard that Siegel had plenty of chances and the coach had a very good strategy coming in to the game. I hope there is a three way tie for #1. This would make the district tourney very interesting.
