  3. Maybe we feel like it's just best to let the games play out on the field & whoever wins will get to celebrate at that time. But ya'll do provide some good entertainment with all the chest thumping that goes on by all the parents on this board, real funny to read at times. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. DII private schools do offer scholarships to students and play. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> DI private schools do offer financial aid to qualified students but those students aren??™t allowed to participate in Varsity sports. My daughter play??™s for one of these schools on ???the prediction list??? & I can assure you that the school would never try & ???buy??? an athlete especially a Softball player??¦??¦.that is real funny! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> We just feel blessed that we have been able to swing the expense (scrape by) of sending our kids to a private school were she can learn in a Christian environment. Some people live near or are zoned for some really good public schools in Tn. We are not one of those persons. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  5. My understanding was that a Lexington player took a pitch that was left over the plate & went yard for a 3 run homer. Is that one of the big mistakes you are referring to? /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  6. Mrnoitall, Are you sure that there is no "recruiting" that happens in our great public schools? /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  7. I don't care alot for basketball either. I do enjoy softball alot but it will never have as large a presence here as it does in other area's of the state. Middle Tn. is a more metropolitan area with a greater density of people. The odds are just not in the West's favor, Numbers don't lie. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Rural area schools can from time to time string together runs when they have a group of very commited/talented girls come thru the program.(just like football & basketball teams do) St. Benedict has an edge since they are located in a heavier populated area similiar to alot of schools in middle Tn. this should help them be competitive year in & year out. You keep knockin on the door & someone will eventually answer. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. Well I guess with as bad as you say it is here in west Tn. we should just talk our kids into giving up & quit playing softball and talk them into playing some other sport like soccer & basketball? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. I agree if you have talent you will win. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Just because a kid is playing travel ball in Mid. Tn. doesn't make them good. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> There are weak & strong travel teams in middle Tn. with good & not so good coaches just like some HS teams have poor coaches & some have good coaches. But unless you are a skilled player already you won't get picked up by a GOOD travel coach/team in west or middle tn. These coaches aren't going to devote much time in practice to fundamentals (on high school age kids) they want to work on the little things that usually make the difference in close competitive games. I do agree though a girl playing HS softball must know the fundamentals of the game or someone (parent, rec coach, middle school coach,10-14 yr travel coach) didn't do a very good job. High school coaches should also be working on the little things that win close games but usually spend a small portion of practice if any at all working on the little things.I'm sure some just pass time doing the same old routine untill it's time to go home for the evening. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  10. High school softball programs aren't built during the HS softball season. HS coaches work very hard for their teams during the season but HS softball programs are built by young women who work hard during the summer & fall travel season & during the winter hitting, pitching & working out to get better. Some HS programs are just able to take advantage of a high percentage of players who are that committed to the sport & they do travel the state & other states to participate in tournaments. If a HS doesn't have a large portion of their players that play summer & fall ball it will be very hard to ever compete with the top level HS teams in the spring. For these teams it would be a waste of money & time to travel to far off tournaments plus it would demoralize the program. If you want the West to compete as a whole you must get your teams players to quit putting the bat down in May & not picking it back up till Febuary! But in all reality I do think that in ratio the West has as many competitive teams look at how the West was represented at the "boro" last year. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Duh.......... new Camden wasn't in the same region but figured it was something along those lines or JV scores. Who pitched in the games for Camden? /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  12. Seems like you know alot about Bolton & St. Benedict but not much else. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  13. What happened in the losses with region opponents Milan & Westview? I had Camden picked to win those games!
  14. Anna will be as good as Anna will be & that will probably be pretty darn good. As for Summer, I don't think she even pitches for her travel team.
  15. Please don't be so defensive, I did not say that Anna was a better pitcher than Ivy,Ellen or Brooke at her current age. But she is a very good accomplished pitcher in her own right. She has done very well this year in HS & did very well in Middle school were she pitched her middle school team to (2) middle school championships with out either one of her sisters being on the team. I also think that if one of her sisters would have been unable to pitch this past weekend that she would have easily been able to pitch the games early in the tournament then having the older sister for the later rounds-thats strategy. She would have easily held off FACS,Hickman Co. & JCS just like she did against Chester Co. on Thursday night who is a much better team than either of those three. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  16. This district is like most districts in Tn. has a couple of teams that have separated from the rest of the pack & the rest are fighting for the bottom. So I don't agree that this is a strong district but a "typical" district, but does have 2-3 good teams. This district could very easily play out like this- #1 Camden- Great pitching, good players on Defense & at the plate, is well coached(could be the difference) #2 Lexington- Great pitcher has good players but for what ever reason they aren't all on the field at the same time. doesn't seem like the coach has figured out that that you play games in an attempt to win them.(could be the difference) #3 McNairy- Great pitcher will keep them in many games but defense has week spots. Offense must improve at the plate & hit good pitching in order for them to think about a district title. #4 Chester- Pitching has potential to keep them out of the bottom & maybe more! The offense will need to show up give some support. #5 Bolivar & Southside- This pick is a toss up not alot of offense & we will see how the pitching for both holds thru the season. To summarize #1 & #2 could flip flop if Lexington actually figures out the game. #2 could flip flop if McNairy finds its bat at the plate. #3 could flip flop if McNairy doesn't find their bat or losses their pitcher. But in the end I still believe Camden comes out on top. But come May we will all know & for now this is just speculation. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  17. You are mistaken, Anna Renfro the 3RD sister has pitched in 3 Varsity games this year against Obion Co. Riverside & Chester Co. giving up only 1 run total in 3 outing's (unearned) Did not watch Ripley play but the girl from Covington who pitched against Trinity was very, very good! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  18. This is a pretty good list from the Jackson Sun, we've seen all of these players helping to take their teams places over the years in HS, Middle school & travel ball. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> All-Tournament Team TCA - Haley Elliott, Natalie Nelson, Summer Cross; Huntingdon - Brooke Thomas, Deidra Jordan, Hailey Sullivan, Winter Santiago; McNairy Central - Kassidy Mosier, Caroline George; Covington - Autumn Glenn, Sarah Cousar. Defensive Player Ellen Renfroe, TCA Most Valuable Player Ivy Renfroe, TCA
  19. Sorry, My bad no disrespect intended to any of those teams. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  20. I agree Huntingdon & Trinity both have very good pitching as several teams at this tournament did. I believe there were 5 teams that went to the "Boro" last year that participated in this tournament Covington,Westview,Chester Co.,Huntingdon & Trinity. The difference seemed to be how crisp the defense was behind Trinity's pitching as well as the ability Trinity seemed to have to put runners on the bases even when playing the better teams. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
