RunninRebels I am confused at the comments you made about West would run that region...I agree it is probably not as good as 6A region and the funny thing is when West went to Central in the spring to scrimmage last year West got beat 5-3 and 3-1 Varsity! So I dont know if they would have just stormed through that region...and you say Powell has been bad except when they had that good QB...that was last year and they won 9 games! Anderson County has been good the last 2 years...getting beat bye Catholic in the 3rd round of the playoffs and getting to the Semis this year with the chance to win...so excuses suck and sometimes being good does count! I also seem to remember the last time Central and West played Central won the last game of the year in that region! Go figure though...and cheating is intentionally playing someone that you know is ineligible...Central did not know that and was told bye the first year AD there everyone was good to go!!! So know your facts before you speak runninRebels...and I think this region is going to be better this year...and 1 quick question for you Rebel What makes Catholic so good...5-5 at the end of the regular season...and Powell beat up on them in the Jamboree...I know it is just a qtr of play but getting beat is getting beat...was William Blount good? Did OR not make the playoffs again and have Maryville beat at Maryville...what about Heritage...real powerhouse. Other than Maryville, Farragut, and Bearden the region is not that strong and I am not sure Bearden will be that good once Devrin is gone! We will see this spring when The Cats and West square off again!!!

They have been ok just really young last year and got turned in for a kid playing that went to Halls as a freshman and moved to Halls and moved back to F City to be eligible and that is what they were told by Halls AD and TSSAA and they did that and then Halls turned him in and everyone went back on their word. SOme how Halls thought this would help them get into the playoffs , go figure. But we have been down the last 3 years but really young last year(playing 2 freshman) should be better this year and be even better the next!

That is funny that 2 people from Halls are saying that about and ineligible player when Halls turned the kid in after he went to Halls his freshman year and his parents gave thousands of dollars for the new field house and Halls turns him in and name some ineligible players the Cats have been playing for years and no it was not 0-10 it was 0-8 and we did not have to forfeit the wins the just did not count as games!!! Devilsden I guess your just upset for being at Halls like half the Halls community is right now!!!

I agree with the Powell thing and they should be pretty good and better next year with what they have coming back except they loose some defense? But the Halls thing...they will be very thin on the line and on defense and lose alot of seniors. I look for HVA to be much improved and will win some games and also OR will be very good and Clinton will be good just not as explosive. Also I think AC will be good but not as good cause they lose a lot of their exposive players on offense and defense. I think Central will be better on defense with all but one player gone off the starting defense and will need to improve in the passing game and the leadership from the QB position.

I agree and if coaches could get paid to coach and not have to worry about teaching class and just worry about game planning and what they are going to do in practice and watch film things could be different...but as long as they have about 15hrs a week to get kids ready for games, the kids have to understand how to prepare as well and that is where the parents can help and not keep blaming the coach for their kid being lazy.

Some parents just do not understand the importance of committment and never will...everyone has to be on the same page to win football games and if not you will not win. I have heard kids call their parents to come get them after workouts for football and the parent literally cuss and scream at the kid for them having to come pick him up...and we are trying to win games with these kids...good luck and I think this is a great thread and need more opinions.

Great post but how dare some parents blame themselves for how their kid is practicing or not showing up...it will always be someone elses fault!

I could not agree more and I wish that some parents could do coaching for one week and watch film and make a game plan and watch how their kid tries to tackle or block or how the playis suppose to look and see what coaches have to do the next week to improve on strengths and hide and/or improve weaknesses as well...coaching is a year round job and coaches put in hour after hour after hour and just coaching is not all coaches do...they have to make sure kids are eligible and come to practice and make sure they get home when they are standing i front of the field house with no ride or walk them out on senior night cause their family did not show...that is what makes the money worth while is that we as coaches are part of these young men and womens lives and we are an influence even when we think we arent...so message to parents it is not always what happens on Friday nights that we deal with.

Well all is expected when you take a high school coaching job and every coach wants to win and some do it better than others and some have better players than others so it seems as though they are the better coach...when that is not the case...with that being said high school coaches in Tennesee and definitly in Knox County do not get paid enough to do what we do and put up with what we put up with and we want to win and work as hard as anybody...so until coaches start making the money to demand these things people cant demand them but keep in mind noone and I mean nonone wants to win as bad as the coach!!!

That is a great thing West is doing and for the game to be against another Knoxville team is really a credit to West and their sportsmanship.

The Powell and Catholic game would be a good matchup and would be fun to go to watch in the 2nd round in Knoxville...go Panthers and Irish pull it off and see ya next week!!!

Not really a cheap shot we actually got the idea from the late Bill Wilson when he was at Bearden and we showed to play them and they had Pink shirts on that said 55-10 from the year before...and they beat us 20-7 and played lights out and as hard as they could play so we thought we would try it we just had some quitters in out senior class that down played it and made it a joke...so no harm...keep it interesting up there and if you all win who is next? Havent looked at the bracket close enough?

Good to see you back and in a better mood. If you'll look back at what I have posted you'll see that I have said that Powell is definitely the underdog in this game. I am not making any predictions or guarantees - that's not my history or my style. No pink t-shirts, no boasting, and no pointing fingers. Our guys plan to show up and play and see what happens on the field. Hopefully it will be a good football game and nobody will sustain any serious injuries. Just remember that while we all love it, high school football is still just a game. As the folks as Sullivan South already know from their tragic experience earlier this year, there are a whole lot more important issues that we have to face every day. Keep it in perspective, Cat, and like I said - I don't dislike you. Come and introduce yourself next time. I believe that we both have our love for high school football and what it means to the kids at heart. That commonality would probably go a long way in our conversation. Thanks for the reminder about the pink shirts...they were suppose to work as a reminder to the Central players and that did not work I dont guess because they had a senior class that was more about the seniors(not all of them) so that back fired...we look to be better next year and the Powell game was the only game this year that we did not have the lead or be right in the game up until about the middle of the 3rd qtr...so we hope by playing as young as we were it will help us finish some games this next year? HTV thanks for acknowledging the rumors...but I was told some of those rumors and when it involves your program you have to speak up...just as you would...so dont act like you are so mature and that was silly...this thread is silly and you may not like me and I may not like you but we both have a competitive nature and know something about sports or we wouldnt want to fet into these conversations...so as far as the pissing contest goes I am not trying to piss farther than you...just hate when people seem to act like somebody else is dumb or dont know what they are talking about like you do in your own condescending manner...but thanks again for the ammo and keep it up...and as far as the rumor mill goes I heard the rumor from a Powell coach...but you know more about it than I do...just remember I know something you dont know...

Well HTV you win about the conversation back in August or July and to answer your question...It is sour grapes because I am competitive and you just like to keep throwing stones and I seem to remember you butted in to my conversation this time and were already talking trash to a South fan...and I also remember that you wouldnt or couldnt answer some of my questions and you seem to act like you knew all of them, so are you talking smack or do you answer questions? Well anyway it was and is not Central who turned Powell in but it is easy to point the finger at Central when Halls turned Central in and Powell had just beaten Central like a drum and Mobley had a great game...but I can assure it was not Central. I dont know enough about McMinn Central...but know that they are usually athletic and have some good size...but I do know Oak Ridge plays really hard and physical and they have a very simple offense but seems complicated to opposing defenses...I look for OR to win but just cant say for sure...any help out there?

Some times you have to just keep on grinding and working to get better and make the ones around you better...cause the old saying is if your not getting better your getting worse!!! Hang in there and keep working.

Well last time you called me out HTV the thread got locked so I dont get into conversatios with you anymore...but with you being so outgoing and talkative I just cant resist...I have no Idea about the South game and do know that the Powell coaches wanted to play Mo. West cause they felt better about the matchup and not good about the South matchup...So that is something I do know that is not talking trash or smack...for the record on the rumor front about Central turning in Powell not true at all and Central dont care...we dont point the finger, that would be Halls...and HTV grow up...Powell had one player that night that was on fire and Central didnt so Powell whipped us again but had a little more class this time around, but I guess you were at the game...and I wish I would have ran into you and maybe I will see you at the South game and I was going to pull for Powell, but now that you have started your whining and talking again...I hope Powell gets slaughtered!!! He has a history of accusing Powell of being classless simply because Powell put 50 on his team in 2008 and he all but guaranteed a Central win over Powell back a few weeks ago, and we all know how that came out. It's just a case of really sour grapes with him and I was calling him, and him alone, out.
