  8. Still no TSWA Girls Soccer Allstate posting? Has the TSWA gone out of business, or maybe only a boys football organization now?
  9. I was wondering that too. Last year the THSSCA put out their All-State list in the end of November, and the TSWA put out their All-State list the first week of December. Since their over a month late, I am wondering if the TSWA is even bothering with girls soccer anymore. Since the entire 'sports-writing' market this fall was almost totally boys football, with girls soccer getting almost zero press, maybe they've just cut their budgets back to only follow football in the fall.

  11. Maybe a typo on the middle girl. There's a Hershey HS in Pennsylvannia; not Knoxville, TN.
  12. usually the coaches one comes out in last weekend in Nov, and sportswriters the last weekend in Dec.
  13. Maybe the Chatt PBS station isn't carrying the AAA division, since it didn't contain any Chatt Schools. Might have to check the Nashville or Memphis PBS channels for that.
  14. Germantown HS (Red Devils) was founded in the 1800s. Houston is a relatively new Germantown H.S., added in 1989. So prior to 89 there was only one Germantown H.S. Im not sure if the present Red Devils have ever made it to the State Tournament since Houston was split off. Can't find any history on their soccer program since 89.
  15. This weekend was tied for 2nd with 2 other 5-pt spread finals. Most lopsided TSSAA Final matches 2001 - Ridgeway 11-2 vs CAK 1987 - Franklin 5-0 vs Germantown 2010 - Germantown 6-1 vs Franklin 1992 - Franklin 6-1 vs Sullivan South 2000 - Ridgeway 6-2 vs Chatt Christian 1999 - Ridgeway 5-1 vs Hume Fogg 1996 - Germantown 5-1 vs Brentwood 2007 - St Georges 4-1 vs Harding Academy
  16. The NFHS rule for an injured player leaving the field, is simply if their coach/trainer enters the field to attend to them. They may return on the next substitutable ball. As for when to stop play, this is completely subjective by the Ref. If at anytime the Ref believes there is a dangerous situation to any player to continue play, play and clock should be stopped, until the Ref determines it is safe to re-start. "Taking a knee" is a common rule of thumb, but not a law of the game. It helps give the referee a visual sign that play needs to stop to consider an injury; but in the case of a ball to the face situation, even if the player doesn't take a knee, if it were violent enough and the Ref sees it occur clearly and up close, might choose to stop play to be sure there isn't a serious injury. Sometimes a concussion will cause players to act irrationally, and their drive and desire to play might cause them to push through going down, even though they might be seriously hurt. So, in a case like this, even though they didn't take a knee, the Ref may have thought from the contact, and from their body-language, that their injury meritted stopping and evaluating their current state. As far as purpose delaying, like kicking it out, etc...the Ref in NFHS cannot 'add time'. What they can do, if they deem purposeful delaying, is stop the clock until the ball is retrieved from it's blast into the next county, and/or caution the player who launched the rocket for unsportsmanship or delay of game. The main difference between FIFA and NFHS in this situation, is that FIFA can add time back, but NFHS cannot; however NFHS can stop time, and allow time to restart when play is begun again, (which if done correctly pretty much can equate to the same result of FIFA adding time). In the end, the Ref can prevent players from "burning the clock" unduely, in both FIFA and NFHS, just via different manners.
  17. Semi-Final#2 Final Score: Franklin 4-0 VS Knox Catholic
  18. Along the lines of the team thread, of the teams that didn't make it, what players would have been among the strongest competitors this year, had they been here?
  19. Anyone know why the AAA classification is being split amongst two different sites this year? I could see why they might want to rotate each classification each year amongst the hosting schools...just not sure why they would split sites in the same year.
  20. Shouldn't a team with better overall touch on the ball, that plays a better possession style (utilizing that touch and ball control), do better in wet conditions than a team that has weak ball control and touch? Sure "kickball/over the top" style teams still will do what they do, I would think though, the weather would more severely hinder this style.
  21. Haven't been to CCS, but Baylor field was fine last night where AAA played.
