  1. Goddard,get a life. your 98 posts in 2 weeks is absurd
  2. NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!! If memory serves me right, and it usually does, Alcoa has 8 starters that dont live in the Alcoa area. 8. And I'm willing to bet those 8 are pretty darn good. Now, without those 8, Alcoa would still win this game, no doubt. But without open zoning players, Alcoa would not have won 6 straight state championships. They would've won some, and probably most. But its hard to believe it woulda been 6 straight w/o the "extra help" from the "non-Alcoa area residing young men"
  3. That pass wasnt intended for #27. If it had been, maybe the hit would've been understandable. But the ball wasnt even going to him. But like someone else said earlier, this one play shouldnt taint an otherwise classic gridiron war
  4. Ok, my son will kill me but this is Warrior011's old man. Just a couple of comments. First, 011 isn't Jordan-but all that has been said about Jordan by APB is correct. Second, my son has been on the field regularly for the last two years against Alcoa and has a better perspective than all of us old flatulence producers combined. He consistently talks about the class and humor of the vast majority of Alcoa players. He had fun covering #4 and points to the gouges in his helmet left by #1 and #2 with some pride-particularly when it was accompanied with being part of a tackle of a guy 70 lbs bigger and faster than you. There has been one consistent exception to that and it probably doesn't need to go further than that. No team, including CAKs, is ever going to have a set of perfect kids. Having said that, I'll end with comments I overheard from two Alcoa parents walking to the car-- "did you see that last hit (on #27)?" "Yea, that was borderline" "No, that was cheap." Thanks to the vast majority of Alcoa fans, players and posters for their class or at least consistent humor (APB, my son and I will miss most of your pictures). Goddard--wow, dude, you've got some issues.
  5. You obviously havnt seen Loudon, CAK, Alcoa, or Polk Co. play.
  6. I said "apparently" and "I cant make a judgement" Thought that would keep me from looking like I was "throwing stones". my apologies.
  7. exactly what i was going to say. Anyway... I will now be posting as a former player. I'll never forget that game and the brothers that I played it with. Like someone said earlier, it was a war. We were one bad call (block in the back on #18 on a punt return down to the 5. ref came back and told one of our coaches that it was a clean block) and a one unfortunate drop away from winning 17-14. Both defenses played lights out. Credit several players on both sides for playing injured. #2 was playing with cracked ribs AND back spasms. I know a couple of the Alcoa backs were also playing injured. hats off to Alcoa for stepping up and getting it done like you always do. The ALcoa players are always some of the best in terms of sportsmen ship that we play, year in and year out. It was no different last night, until #16's apparently ridiculously cheap shot on #27. I was watching the ball and did not see it so I can't make a judgement. Anyway, go win state. I'll be disappointed if I dont see #1 and #4 play on Saturdays. If #4 played for a passing team, he'd be the number one WR prospect in the state. He catches everything. CAK fought their guts out tonight, just didnt quite get it done. Congradulations to my fellow Warriors on an incredible season
  8. Don't flatter yourself. Our boys are fine
  9. I bet West and Prevo combined for more than 100 for Maryville. but that's a guess. Newman's a beast though so I'm not really suprised by this stat
  10. Keep these great posts comin' all week GVK
  11. great post, you said everything I've been trying to say, just in a more articulate way. Again, the reason for my thoughts were second and third hand stories, and the coach in the press box. Congrats Polk on a super season
  12. Startin off the week good APB. Can we PLEASE get the CAK/Alcoa thread started
  13. I am not bashing any high school players. I was simply told that the Polk players were told all week in practice to hit our guys as hard as they could (the point being to hurt the cak players). But that's football. I'm not complaining about a physical style of play. I think its great. I sincerely apologize if it seemed like I was attacking what seems like a great group of kids. I didnt mean to do anything like that. Oh and it's Epperly. Not Epperson. You sure you're friends with em? this isnt directed at you Football80, but the whining about the officiating is getting old. if the officials were that bad, trust me, you'd be hearing about it from FootballDad and JuniorsDad. I promise
  14. Calling out horrible behavior by an adult who should no better isn't non-Christian. The Polk team played hard and is a very good team and has our respect as do the staff for a good game plan. Our kids did get hurt-but, guess they were tough enough weren't they?
  15. ok maybe it wasnt. maybe it was. in any case, it amazes me that yall still are talking about how good you are and about how the refs stole the game from you. Seems like yall thought you would come beat up the little rich Christian kids and win easy. Then when our boys toughed it out and beat you, you didnt know how to handle it. Congradulations Polk Players on a great season and Polk seniors on great careers. from what I could tell, they were mostly good kids. i will now transfer my posts over to a thread with some fun-loving, sensible folks from Blount County. Always my favorite thread of the year.
  16. yes, Polk did play thier hearts out, as did CAK's. MULTIPLE guys playing with injuries. and yes of course a good defensive scheme is to get after the quarterback. but the gameplan was to HURT our players. because you knew you couldnt beat our starters. hats off to the effort and drive that the polk players played with. just wish there was less animosity between the "rich" people and the "country" people. its just dumb. good luck to yall next year. maybe we'll see you again. Hey Dad, are we still lookin for a nondistrict game... as long as you dont try and hurt us and just play football ( which does involve people getting hurt, but not the malicious act of trying to injure someone) im sure we'd love to play yall again. It was a great game!
