  1. PrepXtra reporting Halls with a 5-4 win. Winning run scored in 7th on an error.
  2. I have read HVA4LIFE's posts and have even heard them referenced out at some ballfields during district play. No way this poster speaks for the HVA program. I am not sure if the poster is a comedian, a kid playing games, or someone outside the HVA program trying to stir up some bulletin board material. I have never heard a player or a fan within the HVA program speak with this type of disrespect for any opponent. I have ignored the previous posts that are equally as stupid and I hope, by responding, I haven't dignified the poster's comments. This message board goes out across the state and some good natured talk between rivals is a great thing to do. But HVA4LIFE's posts makes the district look silly if we all take the bait. TSpoon started a real discussion thread for the Halls - Powell games this week. Maybe he can do another one for HVA- Powell next week and we can all respond to that one. It should be a great week of baseball.
  3. Fungo, This is my opinion with no input at all from players or coaches. HVA is 2-0 vs Karns in games played last week and 0-2 vs Powell in games played earlier in the season. I kinda like the angle in going up against Powell and being in the "underdog" role against a team that has beat HVA twice. Has absolutely nothing to do with who I think is better between Karns/Powell. Both have very good baseball programs.
  4. HVA and Oak Ridge split their games this week. HVA is 8-7 in district with Halls left to play Friday. Oak Ridge is 7-9 in district and done with district play. HVA should be 5 seed regardless of outcome of Halls game. Are we sure that Karns is the 3 and Powell is the 4?
  5. Hardin Valley Academy sweeps the series with Karns this week winning 11-9 and 7-6 in two exciting games. I believe Karns came into the series either with the 3rd or 4th best district record but not sure exactly how Anderson County, Karns, and Powell currently stack. HVA moves it's district record to 6-6 and 12-15 overall. HVA is 9-2 in last 11 games with one of the loses a tough 6-4 loss at Halls. Overall, HVA is playing playing solid team baseball. The individual players don't get many mentions in discussions regarding best hitters, position players, and pitchers in the area. It's definitely been a situation where everyone contributes and the coaching staff continues to do a great job in building a young baseball program. If anyone knows the exact district standings would appreciate a post as we move into last week of district play.
  6. I did not say that West was senior "loaded", I said senior "based" as communicated to me by one of your own fans after the game while we were commenting on a good tough baseball game. Sorry if I relayed some info in my original post that you consider not accurate. The West fan I spoke with was very complimentary of your seniors. I know the senior pitcher that threw the last 3 or 4 innings really shut us down and did a very good job. I certainly was not trying to diminish your win by stating we were young and I definitely was not trying to make an excuse for the loss. We start at least 5 sophs in the varsity line-up and have 3 freshman pitchers that saw action in critical spots in last week's games. That's pretty young as compared to most teams around and I would think is a solid fact about our program. BTW, the only reason I even commented on the youth thing is because the previous poster asked me if HVA's varsity 12-3 win over Bearden's varsity was a JV score. We are a new school and there is still a little confusion in regards to our varsity program.
  7. The HVA vs. Bearden score was a Varsity game. Bearden pitchers were Hamilton, Cates, and Pasillas. HVA pitchers were Covell and Weiler. HVA is a very young team that will have some ups and downs. Last week, HVA couldn't handle AC's lefties in the two loses, although the games were still close through 4 or 5 innings. HVA also lost last week in 9 innings to a senior based West team and lost to CAK in 8 innings blowing a 3-2 lead in the top of 7th with 2 outs nobody on. Coach Renegar is doing a very good job bringing the young players along and they proved over the last week that they can be pretty fun to watch. HVA has two seniors on the team.
  8. Hardin Valley defeats Bearden 12-3 Hardin Valley defeats Alcoa 4-2 Hardin Valley loses to CAK in 8 inn 5-4 Hardin Valley loses to Murf Oakland 11-1
  9. Hardin Valley Academy defeats Bearden today in a 4-AAA vs 3-AAA match-up. Final score 12-3. Covell and Weiler pitched for HVA and Hamilton, Cates, & Pasillas for Bearden. Hardin Valley, in the program's 2nd year, is coached by Kirk Renegar.
  10. I would suggest either Doug Bochtler at Cherokee Athetics in Maryville or Fred Corral (ex Tennessee pitching coach) at Diamond Baseball in Farragut. Good Luck!
  11. Not sure about Hardin Valley in this district. I was around some of the varsity coaches in 3-AAA recently and they made the comment that Hardin Valley was staying on the Oak Ridge, Powell, etc...side of the district. It will be interesting to see where we end up. I am pretty sure that Anderson County is moving up to AAA classification so maybe this is why HVA might be moving to where Sportsfan010 suggests.
  12. Hardin Valley wins over Campbell County tonight 7-4 in tonight's play in game (8 seed vs 9 seed). Hardin Valley will face the top seed Central Friday evening.
  13. Hardin Valley plays Campbell County tonight in their final district game. Each of the teams have one district win. Campbell Cty beat Hardin Valley for their only win and Hardin Valley has a win over Karns. So, tonight's game will determine who is 8th in district and who is in last place. The winner of tonight's game will host the play in game between the same two teams on Thursday evening with the winner advancing into the district tourney.
  14. Since there is a little discussion on the board today after HVA's win over Gibbs last night, everyone also might be interested in the fact that the Hawks defeated Karns 2-1 on Wed. evening at HVA. Karns routed HVA Monday evening at Karns 14-1 to make their district 3AAA record 9-3. Hardin Valley was winless in district 3AAA play. After an 0-15 start....HVA has won 3 out of 4 games. Loads of credit should go out to HVA's first ever baseball coach, Kirk Renegar, who has done an outstanding job taking a JV aged team (no seniors, a few Jr.'s, and the remaining varsity players all freshman and Sophs) and bringing in some positive results for the program. At start of season, Coach Renegar had a total of 2 innings of varsity level experience for the entire team. HVA is a new high school with no seniors, about 1/3 of a Jr. class, and full freshman and Sophmore classes. Getting back to the Karns game. HVA lefty Ryan Russell pitched a jewel of a complete game giving up only 1 run on a solo HR by the Karns pitcher. HVA was led in hitting by Freshman Elliot Whitt who tripled and was driven in by Grahm Rowan who was 3 for 3 for the night. Freshman HVA SS Denton makes a couple of excellent defensive stops for the last two outs of the game with tying run on 3rd. If you like underdogs....you would have found this last week of HVA baseball pretty exciting.
