Trouble with Grundy is a lack of leadership at the top. Players were told to be at school for early workouts for the 1st time after loss with Jasper and your head coach doesn't show up! They expect more out of their kids but does anyone up there expect more out of the men at the top?

So who is responsible for teaching proper technique? Why didn't GC coaches adjust for this especially with a two possession lead? Sounds like you want to put the blame on the players. Let's give all the credit to MC coaches for winning which they deserve but no credit for GC coaches squandering that two score lead at half.

It appears to me that your cognition may be the one seriously affected. Grundy goes in at halftime with a 19-7 lead against a team that had a 1-9 record last year and they lose the game 20-19. What do you think the coaches were doing at halftime? Maybe you’re right they probably didn’t ask Madden. They probably just shook the magic 8 ball. I see Grundy as a team whose players give their all. We hear they are committed to the weight room. The second half they appeared winded and cramping, and lacked second half adjustments. These are problems with what is on the sideline and not on the field!

Looks like same old grundy. Them mountain boys show up and work hard but them mountain coaches with all that experience still haven't learned what to do after halftime.

A middle school would help part of the problem but you have to convince people of academic benefits not just athletic benefits. Academically a middle school would provide more opportunities for all students. The North vs. South debate will continue to no one’s benefit. Does it help matters that most of the coaches are from the south end and that one family controls football and boys basketball? Can two high schools compete against SP or Jasper? One high school struggles to compete. What is more detrimental North vs. South or Nepotism? Or is this the same thing in this case?

How are 8th graders playing on an 11-12 team? Some 7th graders could be young enough but not 8th. Are these coaches supporting the middle school program? If so why have they had 3 coaches in 3 years? The first two did well and then they are gone. Are your coaches going to the little league games and Big 8 games? Are the coaches helping players who want to try to play at the next level? If you want a community to support a coaching staff then that staff needs to support the kids before and after their time in high school. Community is more than one family.

Didn’t Grundy have a good middle school program the past two years? How do they go from being the best team next to SP to folding the program? Are those coaches not spending time recruiting at all those elementary schools and Big 8 games?

That is the key with these guys they have the personal to run Power I but not the coaches to put those mountain boys in the best position to win consistently. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the warriors at my end of the valley have either! Just hate to see players put in a disadvantage before they step on the field.

You schedule cupcakes non region and then brag about beating teams with only one win. We all know Jasper is down for now but let’s make sure everybody knows your coaches finally got one over what may be the worst Jasper been in a very long time. You should have won last year. When was the last time you stepped up and beat a team that was an upset? You struggle to beat teams you should and don’t surprise anyone.

Hasn't Grundy always been the home of the spread? With all that speed they should be unbeatable if they would stay in the spread. The problem has never been the effort of the boys on the field. You have to have coaches that know how to put those boys the right position to win. They are too busy trying to dodge SP and any other team with a winning record. All you have to worry about with the players up there is how excited they are about deer season.

So with everyone in the paper and almost everyone on this thread picking your Jackets, does this big upset of the Jackets make you question what direction your program is going in????

No expectations? Did you expect to lose to 0-6 CC and 1-6 single A Midway? What do you expect to do when you play Grace and ND? Grundy as proved they have some players, they just don't have a staff that knows how to put the players in the best position. Do you think that last years coach would have struggled with this years schedule? I guess you will still be tickled when you beat ND and Grace but if you lose either of those games or just barely win like you did at Midway will you start to scratch you head?

Ump and nocrying must be getting rid of some merchandise up there in the pocket. Maybe when they get everything strip down they'll have some more time to chat. How is the field holding up in Pikeville with all the rain?

Not blaming the current staff for the cupcake schedule. I would blame that staff for blowing a 14 point 2nd half lead at stone and for being in the shotgun inside their own 5. Can you say saftey. 29 unanswered points when you have the game in control. You got some tuff kids up there not smart coaches. My point is for the first time in two months some Grundy people have been on all happy because they beat sombody and the last two teams have one win between them. Bledsoe beat Sequatchie who have you beat? Marion 3 losses SP by 12, Seq by7, Signal by 15. Grundy 4 losses SP by 41, Seq by 23, Marion by 20, Stone by 15. Should have beat stone.

Jasper wins this one by 21. Glad to see Whitwell improving this year but they still have a ways to go to beat Jasper.

Don't know don't care. Point is don't get excited over 3 wins when you haven't beat anyone. almost blew the game last week and did blow the game vs. Stone. 14-0 lead in 3rd quarter and lose 14-29. That's not the kids that is coaching. Grundy doesn't know how to make adjustments. No experience no clue.

Big 3 wins. Nothing like traveling 3 hours just so you can find someone to win against. How long will the Grundy faithful be happy winning games 3 hours away and getting embarrassed every time they play a valley team. All the valley teams are improving this year including Grundy but they aren't ready to play in the valley yet. Maybe in a valley 3 hours from here but not this one. Nothing like an easy schedule to make you feel better about yourself.

Grundy has won 2 in a row. Things might be looking better on the mountain except that Grundy's last 2 opponents have combined for only one win. Grundy has players with heart that will play hard but it won't be enough to make up for the lack of experience on the sideline. Could be a close game but play calling will make it an easy win for Marion. Marion 38 Grundy13

How did Grundy like getting beat? I don't know but I thought it was strange that the crowd was cheering after Coffee scored.

Everybody wants a little nasty on their team but your team only showed it after the whistle when they gave up big plays and when the O keep going the wrong way. The biggest problem I had with the fighting was that the bench keeps going out on the field. Where is the discipline and leadership that encourages that? I’m not trying to pick on Grundy. I just like to see all the SVC teams do well. Most seem to be improving but not all seem to be going in the right direction.

So is KC helping? never heard an answer to this question. either way I can't wait for some real Friday night fooball. can't we fast foward a couple of weeks?
