  1. Went by Bearden yesterday and boy was I impressed. Skylar McBee from Grainger played well. So did the kid from Fulton. Wilson is not ready for that type of play. Gatlinburg Pittman's coach plays in the league as well. Much fun!! Real hot though. Turtle what did you htink of the high school kids?
  2. CNPitbull must have a lot of time on his hands to be checking on time postings. My name is William Rayfield. Saw Raul play all through College at Maryville and have followed his progression in the high school ranks as a Coach. From what we hear in Maryville is that Rodney Nelson wants the job.
  3. I would go after Coach Placeres at GP but why would he leave GP?
  4. If I was in charge of Oak Ridge's coaching selection these would be the guys I would go after: Brian Jessie Union County, Tony Buell Carter, Raul Placeres Gatlinburg Pittman, Micah Marsh Alcoa, Rodney Nelson Ex Maryville Coach. Those five coaches are as good as they come in this area. You have major experience in Nelson and great developer of talent, Jessie,Marsh and Buell have been around for about 6 to 7 years and have done great jobs where they are at, and Placeres is young coach with a lot of potential who has a great basketball background. All these guys I keep hearing about would be step below of Coach Norris. Spoke to guys close to Oak Ridge and they would love to have a coach who brings energy, passion, and a winning attitude to the program. I believe all five guys of these guys can do this.
  5. Living in Maryville you hear all sorts of things on coaching changes. I heard Rodney Nelson will be the next Head Coach at Lenior City. Good hire,GREAT COACH!!
  6. Saw Raul this weekend in Maryville. Spoke to him and he is not going anywhere. He said he will have a tough challenge ahead this next year. Graduates 6 seniors and is headed to the District with AE,Fulton,Union,Carter,Pigeon Forge, and Gibbs. HE said he is loving it in Gatlinburg and would only leave for a college job. By the way he met with Coach Pearl on the possibilities of Coaching at UT and Coach Pearl said if he wanted the GA job that belong to Aaron Greene it could have been his. I asked him if reads Coacht and he admitted that he does from time to time. Agitator I told him what you said he responded like this" everyone is entitled to their opinion I know my kids enjoy playing for me and in a joking way told me if it was all about winning do you think I would have sat down my second leading scorer and best defender my first year in the semis of the district tournament after losing my best player. Risked a shot to play in the district championship to teach a young man a lesson. Says a lot to that post you had on MATURITY, HIGH MORALS, AND DISCIPLINE..
  7. Was he not the Coach of the Year in the District in his first year? If his peers don't like him I don't think they would have voted for him. I know Coach Combs and Coach Harville like the young man.
  8. Would have to agree with Hsfansince78. If you look back at what they did from 2002-2006 it has been a turnaround. I counted a total of 24 wins in those years they have won 32 games in just 2 years, Tied for 1st place in the District in 2008 and went to the district championship this past year. Looking at it you maybe upset they have beat you 4 straight times from what it says here on Coacht. Don't know if he has changed since his playing days but from what I hear everyone is really high on him.
  9. Coach Darden will resurface somewhere. The talk is he wants to Coach and would take South Doyle job.
  10. I have seen this young man since his College days at Maryville. As a player you could tell he would be a coach. Was always directing his teammates on where to be and what to do. Was a pretty darn good player. Yes he does play in the Rocky Top league and does a great job. I say that is a pretty neat thing, not too many coaches can do that. He would be a great hire for any of the openings around Knoxville especially those private schools.
