  2. Yes it is. Here is the link. http://sports.espn.go.com/highschool/rise/...009&week=11 In its "final" rankings it had the following Tennessee state championship teams ranked in the top 50 in "spring" soccer. Christian Brothers-17 CAK-21 Farragut-22 We all know these polls are not scientific. This particular poll only ranks those states that play high school soccer in the fall. ESPN will have another poll for "fall" soccer for states that play high school in the fall. Having said all of that, I would love to see the Farragut-Northwestern game next year. Northwestern obviously had a great team this past year. For example, the state semi-finalist from AAAA in SouthCarolina was named Ft. Mill. Ft. Mill came to the Oak Ridge tournament and beat Christian Brothers 1-0. Northwestern beat Ft. Mill twice this year, 5-0 and 6-1. According to their school website, Northwestern went 24-0, scored 147 goals and only gave up 10. They also had four seniors who all signed D1 scholarships, including one with North Carolina. Having said all of that about Northwestern, I think they better be ready for Farragut next year. According to the ESPN website, Farragut will be a "lock" to be a pre-season top ten national team. OK, so it's only "spring" soccer. It's still something the Farragut fans can brag about. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. Yes they were. But, just for Barbara, Farragut was also nationally ranked this year. (Number 22 in final ESPN Spring soccer poll) http://proxy.espn.go.com/highschool/rise/f...mp;seasonType=3
  4. Farragut has had great teams in the past, but this year's Farragut team was certainly one of the best.
  5. These may be the top 4 teams in the state next year! But only two will make it out of the district. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  6. Another name that comes to mind is Joshua Adelman. Did he play for Science Hill?
  7. MVM: Like you, I have no dog in this hunt. Farragut was the best team this year and will be again next year. But I think I understand why they have jumped your case. If they bothered to look at your posts, they would know you are from Soddy Daisy and you are not a Cleveland fan. I was at the Farragut-Hendersonville game. You missed it. It was entertaining, to say the least. The fans included. Hendersonville was a good team. They had a great crowd. There was about a ten minute stretch in the second half when they actually had some chances to tie the game including one shot that a forward should have put in the net (IMO). However, Farragut really controlled the first half and most of the second but the Hendersonville keeper made some great plays to keep the score close. I think the reason you might have struck a nerve with your post is because the recent Hendersonville program, with all of its talent, can't seem to "finish the drill" in the state tournament. This year they drew the best team, Farragut, and I think they were frustrated because deep down they knew that if they had been on the opposite side of the bracket, they probably could have made it to the finals and finished second. But they didn't. Blind draws are blind draws. Last year, Hendersonville drew Oak Ridge in the first round and they lost. They could have won that game, but they did not. The reason we probably did not hear a lot about "second best team" last year is that Oak Ridge got hammered by Houston in the semis and then Brentwood won the final over Houston. The previous year, Hendersonville lost in the quarters to Farragut, 3-1. Farragut won the state that year. Again, the "second best team" argument was heard. The year before that they lost to Bearden in the state finals, 1-0. On the field, they were "the second best team." The year before that they lost to Brentwood in the finals 4-3. "Second best team" again. If you look at this recent history of "near misses", it might explain why the label of "second best team" may matter to the Hendersonville folks posting on here and why you struck a nerve. It's interesting that no one from Bearden is on here raising a stink about Bearden being number 4 on Eurosport. And I suspect the reason is that they have won state championships recently, and they really don't give a flip if they are second, third or whatever in some insignificant meaningless internet poll. Championships are won on the field. Hendersonville has won before. I think their last state championship was in 1998 or 97. Hendersonville just hasn't won one in a while, and I think the current players and coaches are a little frustrated.
  8. Generally there is a bias against younger players when picking an all state team, even ones as talented as these. They are certainly deserving. I think it would be great if they were picked.
  9. While these two young men will not be named all state this year, they both would get my vote for "top newcomer" this year. Both were very impressive and we should see great things from them in the future.
  10. Christian Brothers, Farragut and CAK were all very talented teams this year. I saw all of them play. I know CAK won the head to head game with Farragut, but I think that I would give the nod to Farragut and Christian Brothers as the best teams this year. Based only on their starting 11, I might have to give a slight edge to Christian Brothers, but I actually think that Farragut has the deepest roster of all three teams. In the end, all three deserved the championships they won. Congratulations!
  11. McCallie was a semi-finalist in D2. Anyone on that team deserve to be all state?
  12. I sure did.... my apologies to Ryan!!!
  13. "Admirals have shot to repeat-13 juniors back for the chance" Check out this article from knoxnews.com http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/may/23/a...shot-to-repeat/
  14. There were a lot of great players in AAA this year. Who would you nominate to your all state team? How about these few players for starters? (These are in no certain order and there is room for a lot more) Kingsbury??™s Fakhry Khulfan Farragut's Trevor Greico Brentwood's Nicholas Desalvatore Bearden's Ryan Campbell Riverdale's Patrick Compton Cleveland's Adam Gonzalez West's Tanner Thompson Bearden's Alex Wilkerson Hendersonville's Paco Hernandez Farragut's Sam Eddy Farragut's John Jester Oak Ridge's Ryan Wilson
  15. He is a senior. Fakhry Khulfan #20 He also played football.
  16. I agree with this post. Maryville should be very strong next year. With Farragut returning all but 2 starters, they will be the favorite, but there will be a lot of strong teams competing for second.
  17. Good list, except you left out Knox West. I would put them in the top ten and leave out Oak Ridge.
  18. I look for CAK, CCS and Alcoa to all be in the state tourney next year. It will be interesting to see who joins them.
  19. This looks like the top five teams for next year. I would probably add Riverdale as number 6. I think I saw a post that indicated they had only two seniors this year. Of course, everyone will likely be playing for second. Farragut will be too dominate next year.
  20. Look at this link: http://proxy.espn.go.com/highschool/rise/f...mp;seasonType=3 or this one: http://www.nscaa.com/hsRes.php?it=1854 The "national" rankings everyone keeps referring to do not include any teams from California, Texas or Florida plus a lot of other states.
  21. I think we all know that polls like USA today and ESPN and other "ranking" systems have no real way to compare teams across state lines or areas of the country. I seemed to remember that Maryville was listed in the top of USA Today's national football rankings one year, but we all know there are 30 football teams in Florida and Georgia that would beat the best that Tennessee high school football has to offer. Soccer is no different. As a Farragut fan, I think we have a tremendous team and the team is definitely the best team in AAA this year and will likely be next year. But does that mean that our team is one of the top 50 in the country just because the team is listed on ESPN? I think not. So whether we talk about Farragut, Cleveland, Bearden, CAK, Brentwood or any other good soccer team this year, we need to be more discerning. I think we are kidding ourselves to think that any high school soccer team from Tennessee, no matter how good, is going to be in the top 50 in the country. If we were all candid, we would all admit that there are probably 50 teams from Florida, Texas and California alone that would win the AAA Tennessee High school soccer championship. What matters to me is what happens on the field Saturday against Brentwood. Go Admirals!
  22. Sorry Brentwood fans, but Bearden and Farragut are going to be in the state finals once again. Farragut will beat Cleveland and Bearden will beat Brentwood. Although Farragut has totally dominated Bearden this year, I expect Saturday's final between Farragut and Bearden will be a little closer. Say 3-1 Farragut.
  23. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090520...t+White+Station Farragut 1, Hendersonville 0: The Farragut soccer team caught Hendersonville off guard on more than one account Wednesday. A foul that was called for a takedown on Trevor Greico opened the door for the Admirals when Sam Eddy got the pass in the box, beating a Hendersonville defender, and went cross-goal for the only score of the game. ???After the foul was called just about everyone was still looking at Trevor,??? said Eddy. ???I saw that they (Hendersonville) weren??™t paying attention, and I got the squib kick and was able to finish. ???I think it was a lucky goal, and they kind of handed it to us, but at the same time I think we deserved the win.???
  24. Eurosport Scoreboard has final posted as 4-1 CCS. Congrats to the Chargers. Good luck in the state tournament.
  25. As long as they don't have to play Farragut again.
