  1. Next years district will be full of potential college players: Fulton: Boyd,Steele,Campbell AE: Pryor?? Carter: Wilson GP: Maples Union: Vittetoe,Smith,Cox Fulton will once again be the favorite. Don't know with AE and its Point Guard leaving. Carter has LESTER!! GP lost a lot. Gibbs is the wild card with our Tigers. Union County might be the only team to push Fulton.
  2. We almost pulled it off!! It was an exciting week. Great season by Coach Guinn and the boys. He has changed the program to title contenders and I don't believe it is stopping anytime soon. We will miss the seniors!!
  3. Good!! We didn't want our Coach going there. Coach Schultz worked under coach Wright's father for several years and would have been a perfect fit at Morristown East due to his understanding of the motion offense. Coach Schultz style is very similiar to that of Coach Wright. Pigeon Forge will have a better year this upcoming season.
  4. Word on Coach Placeres is that he is not going to Seymour and never applied.
  5. Seymour should make this hiring process way easy by going up to Gatlinburg and seeing what they can work out to get the up and coming coach from GP or go with tons of experience in the ex Maryville coach Rodney Nelson.
  6. He would be a perfect fit. Turned around a GP team that was in the dumps. What do you think PANTHER?
  7. IrishBBall didn't you say in one of your other posts that you coached the Knoxville Thunderbolts Semi pro team? Did Coach Placeres from Gatlinburg Pittman played on that team? What do you think of him for the Oak Ridge job?
  8. Only thing stable about Seymour recently has been its Girls program! Boys have not been good since maybe 2001
  9. I was reading this thread and decided to join in because how close I am to the situation. Our family has had a kids play at the four different High schools here in Sevier County. For the past two years GP has been the best in our county. For about four years Pigeon Forge held that reign due to Mike Wright who is now the new head Coach at Oakland. I could see where GP's coach can rub people off the wrong way. He is way different to what we have been become accustomed to here in our county. He is full of energy and has a different style of coaching to what we had seen in our county for years. He would be considered a players /coach. Our nephew plays for Pigeon Forge and I guarantee if he had a chance to play for someone else in the county he would play for GP. Not because they win but because the Coach can relate to his players. PForge has a young coach who is as talented and disciplined as GP's coach but the kids have not responded to him as well. They are 15-42 in two years compared to GP 32-20. Coaching is an art and I believe it takes time and patience to become a good coach. From what I have seen I think he is doing a great job. I believe Pigeon Forge will turn it around this year as well. To echo on what someone posted here I gained a lot of respect for Gp's coach when he sat out Mckinley Maples in the semi finals of the district tournament in his first year. It helped Pigeon Forge because it played GP without Maples and their best player Holzer, can't remember first name and gave Pigeon Forge the shot to play for a District Championship. A lot of maturity and discipline was shown here in his first year instead of looking the other way and trying to get a win. As a fan of the county teams ( a little more for PFORGE!!haha) we like the fact we have a young coach and I am sure GP does too.
