  1. This should be another exciting year in 9AAA and a challenge for all...always enjoy reading the smack talk about this region. Just a few short weeks 'till kick-off and the real fun begins. Good luck GREEN WAVE! Looking forward to a great year.
  2. ote name='my2cents' date='30 July 2010 - 11:49 PM' timestamp='1280548153' post='2477425'] Stupid penalties and personal fouls galore, what is any difference from the last two years at Smyrna. Tssaa should take a look at the fight on the Smyrna sidelines and see if they can help the Smyrna coaches control their own players cause we all know the Smyrna coaches can't. Totally embarrasing when 20 players come off the sideline and jump 2 Gallatin players after the late hit which the ref threw the flag, but no thats not good enough for Smyrna. They have to get their own flags thrown on them to go along with the punches. I am convinced Smyrna will never learn as it has gone on for to long, going on year 3 and still no change. As you can tell I am one totally embarrased Smyrna fan. As for the grades I would give Smyrna B- also and an "F" for class. And I give you and milo118 an "F" as fans. Negativity from the fans bleeds into your players and hurts team morale. I, for one, as a Gallatin fan thought Smyrna looked great tonight. They have a ton of athletes and several weapons and as the game wore on, Smyrna's o-line was able to control the line of scrimmage very well. I wasn't proud of either team for allowing their emotions to get in the way of a great scrimmage. Gallatin has some work to do but our qb's play was something we can build on and our linebackers did a good job. Overall, it was a very physical scrimmage. And I support the team and the coaches and I suggest you do the same as a Smyrna fan - negative comments don't build up, they tear down! Good luck this season.
  3. ALOT! Offense-QB, RB, FB, TE, 2 OL Defense 3 DL, 1 LB, 2 DB and PK/P Mt. Juliet will reload. They do every year pretty much. What does Station Camp return? I believe SC returns most of their offensive line and their kicker. I'm not sure about the rest but I know their QB graduates. What about Portland what do they have returning besides the QB?
  4. I agree with you that Coach Perry is a great coach (by far the best PTown ever saw). But as it has been mentioned before, Portland never did better than 4th in their region after the 2001 season even though Perry was there through 2005. I wouldn't exactly call those "standout teams" but I think it was the best that even he could do with the players he had. I do believe that he did not want to continue to stay around for the decline. No, he doesn't have a crystal ball but he is very smart and was probably not happy with those mediocre seasons so he left for greener pastures, but only he could tell you if that is the case. He's done a fantastic job turning the Mt. Juliet program around and I hope the people there realize how fortunate they are to have him. That is just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
  5. By the way PTownpanther, it just occurred to me that your boys basketball team beat our guys. How were they able to do that since we have 300 more students than you? Like eers said, maybe it's not ALL about numbers.
  6. Im just saying we are returning 8/11 starters on Defense and 5/11 on defense and our jv and freshmen teams did well this year. The Freshmen beat Gallitan, lost to beech by 1. JV beat Gallatin, And almost had Beech as well. Our upcoming talent isn't bad. We are a country school and its hard to win when these are the student numbers... Portland High School 1072 1072 5A Station Camp High School 1186 1186 5A Beech Senior High School 1230 1230 5A Hendersonville High School 1385 1385 5A Gallatin High School 1397 1397 5A Lebanon High School 1544 1544 6A Wilson Central High School 1628 1628 6A Mt. Juliet High School 1790 1790 6A The cut off limit was 1065. My point is we dont have the student populations you guys do.... I agree that you guys got a raw deal by having to compete with these larger schools but how do you explain your losses to Greenbrier and White House? Those would be district games for you if you were playing in 4A.
  7. Yes, I believe so. It's also the first time Portland has played in 5A. That's true but aren't you playing several of the same schools you have been playing for the past 4 years?
  8. Maybe things will at some point turn around for the Portland program. Some of you die-hard P-town fans please correct me if I am wrong but I have been following Panther football for many years and to my knowledge this is the first year in their history they have ever had a 0-10 record. Is that right?
  9. Portland SHOULD win this game. I believe SC lost all 11 starting players on offense. The Panthers have a good quarterback and several returning starters. Also coming off the WH loss, they will be very hungry for a win. It could turn out to be a defensive match-up. Both of these teams will be fighting for a playoff spot. With all that said, I am still going to pick Station Camp by 7. They are well coached and always manage to turn out a good solid team. Good luck to both!
  10. Final score 32-2 White House I was suprised at the score. I looked for the Panthers to pull this one out with WH losing so many of their guys from last year. Sorry, but it looks like Portland is in for another long year. Heard PTown had several unsportsmanlike conduct calls against them. What was that all about?
  11. How about some post Week 1 predictions for final standings? Mine are below: Gallatin Hendersonville Mt. Juliet Beech Lebanon Wilson Central/Station Camp - I'm torn here Portland I believe the top 3 will prove to be very tough contests against each other. Beech will hang in there though. The rest are kind of toss ups. Good luck to all!
  12. This will be a great game. I'll say Gallatin 21-14. GO GREEN WAVE!
  13. Great game Wave! Looked good last night against JPII. Time to go huntin' for some Bear meat!
  14. Wow, this thread along with the one over on the 5A board about the PHS/WH rivalry have been quite entertaining.
  15. If this is true then the entire Portland coaching staff should be fired immediately for sheer stupidity!! I heard the same story from a friend of mine who is tight with the coaches from Greenwood. Definitely an embarrassment for the Portland program.
