  1. owlbooster- do you know if the MUS team will be making the trip on Wednesday or Thursday? Because I also think that a 4-5 hour bus ride could have a negative effect on MUS if they make the trip Thursday. If they were to make it Wednesday, however, hotel rooms would be needed and that would get expensive. Maybe MUS plans on spending Thursday night in Cookeville anyways, but I wouldn't know. For MBA, the fact that this game is on Thursday is not exactly good. Not necessarily for the players, but for the fans. I know that there are 7th, 8th, and 9th grade basketball games plus a wrestling match that same night. Maybe they/some of them will be canceled?? I believe that Jonas Rodriguez is the 9th grade basketball coach as well. Too bad.
  2. Who will be the home team for MBA vs. MUS? I would think it would be MUS because of their better record and higher seed, but I'm not exactly sure how that works.
  3. I think MUS will handle Ryan with ease, but of course anything could happen...Ryan hasn't seen a player like Barry Brunetti this season. (Yes, I believe Brunetti is more dangerous than Darkwa at Ensworth). I think his strong throwing arm and scrambling abilities will give the Irish fits. The Ryan defense seems prone to giving up many points to high powered offenses, such as BA and Ensworth. MUS obviously has a high powered offense as well. Apparently you never know what Ryan's offense will do, as they score 35 vs. BA, 27 vs. Ensworth, and 3 vs. MBA??? The MUS defense seems solid but I don't know much about it. So Ryan will be able to stay in this game if their offense shows up. Otherwise, I don't see it being too close. MUS-38 Ryan-10
  4. congrats to mba!!! great win! there is a really good article on the front page of THE TENNESSEAN about one of mba's players. check it out. Roll Red.
  5. "I have covered MBA, I have friends that go to MBA, I have 4 males in my family that went to MBA." so basically you didnt get into mba and you went to ensworth instead. nice.
  6. could someone explain to me how ensworth has 49 players and like 26 of them are white. as compared to mba's 82 players and 78 of them are white? this may be way out of line and inappropriate and im sorry if it is. it may be a discussion for another time but im seriously curious.
  7. mba will have a new qb playing, sophomore aaron simonis. he is a really good athlete and has gotten much better as a passer since his first week at qb (which i belive was the week before the mba-ba game). he had a terrible concussion mid-august in a scrimmage at smyrna when he was playing running back, which is why he hasnt been the qb all along. i bet mba would be 9-2 if he had been physically able to play right after colbert went down. to the mba players, ensworth is the biggest rival. mba has been way up (maplewood, mccallie, bga) and way down (ensworth, independence, bga, injuries) this season, which is something that the seniors (and therefore the rest of the team) are not used to. therefore mba has nothing to lose in this game and in my opinion will come out firing and more passionate than any game this season. as for ensworth, they basically ran 2 plays in the first game so mba SHOULD be able to slow down #10 after having seen this once. mba's offense and defense are better than they were two months ago, and it was hard for mba to do ANYTHING mentally after colbert went down, as half of mba's seniors were crying out there on the field. although they havent lost, ensworth is beatable as ryan, oakland, and smyrna could have won those games. ensworth will not win a state championship this year. ensworth is a really good team though and this game is sure to be closer than the last. Roll Red.
  8. There may be a few (if that) better players in the league at their respective single positions, but if you look at an all-round player - offense, defense, special teams - I think one would be hard-pressed to find a better, single well-rounded player in the league than Lassing. Add in the fact he is a National Merit Semifinalist, and he's just the complete package as far as a student-athlete is concerned. Fitz Lassing will probably be MBA's valedictorian. Being MBA's valedictorian isn't easy.
  9. i apologize for my comment last night. I was obviously mad at the world when I wrote that for some reason. It was unnecessary in every way and these boards do not need comments like that. I will watch my mouth from here on out. Kudos to Mccallie's D for holding Ensworth to 28 points. Congrats to Ensworth on the win.
  10. no offense but if your a mccallie fan your wasting your time reading this thread and you will be wasting your time at the game tomorrow. ensworth will run train on mccallie and the only teams that can stop/beat ensworth and all their recruits are BA and MUS.
  11. the rainy weather will be a factor in the game. it should benefit MBA, because they are used to the turf and are used to running the ball every play if they have to. last time mba played in the rain and on turf, though, they had 5 fumbles which lost them the game (at MUS in the playoffs last year). that shouldnt happen again. roll red.
  12. Luke is still being tested in the hospital but is expected to be released tomorrow (Sunday). He will have to wear a neckbrace but is expected to make a full recovery.
  13. MBA'S HOME STREAK FACES TEST IN ENSWORTH. Coach Daniel McGugin doesn't know what it's like to lose a home football game at Montgomery Bell Academy. And he hopes to avoid a lesson from Ensworth. thats from the tennessean
  14. wow. lets hope fletcher will be ok for the game. just out of curiosity, do you guys think the players and or coaches read these threads?
  15. stay classy walkIT. Your the man woodroof.
