  1. We will know more on Friday. The first scrimmage is on July 30th at Central: 6PM If you are going, better bring a lawn chair. The game will be on the practice field at Central per the info provided by coaches on Monday. Peace
  2. From what I have been told several younger players are stepping up and taking steps to push for starting spots. Senior Leadership is there and I have also been told that workouts have been intense and player participation has been good. Several players have been doing private workouts daily in addition to the morning summer workouts at the school. My advice for the players: you best keep up your own workouts going strong during the dead period or you will be amazed how quickly the positive results from all that work disappears. Keep Pushing Each Other!!! Seniors: Organize some throw and catch with the RB/TE/Receivers to work on routes and timing. The first scrimmage is on July 30th at Central: 6PM Only 28 days and counting…..
  3. Indeed, good sir. Now this right here is what I call objectivity and reason. Good stuff, my brotha. Keep it coming. Solid squad this year-- no doubt about that fellas-- but there's not a D-1A athlete among the troops this year. That's a revelation that might come as a surprise to many of the delusional inhabitants of Dumplin Valley, but I figured someone should let everyone know. So there. I said it. Thank me later. Not one D1 athlete? Interesting, Last I checked the statistical stuff, #10 Charles Anthony Goins, was putting up D1 level numbers at several combines and invitation only events. Just saying, “Not one D1 athlete” does not make it so. However, even putting up great numbers does secure D1 scholarships if the TEAM does not win. Also, there some others that have the potential to be D1 prospects, THEY MUST WORK AT IT outside the "normal" workouts. I understand he verbally Threatened a teacher. Duhhhhhhh Not sure about Bo playing or not playing. If he does not, that is his decision and I wish him the best. Other receivers will just have to step up. Are you serious? Where you watching the same Blue/White Game I was? How many points did the Blue score while #17 was at quarterback? If I remember right, that would be ZERO Don’t get me wrong, I think he is a Great young man, but he is not the starting QB in our offensive set. I would love to see us line up in a spread and throw the ball 60% of the time, but that is not going to happen. I like “explosive” passing offences too, but seriously. #17 as the starting QB, this year? Really? You want that? Ok, say #10 goes to Coach Anderson and says "Coach, I want to play only at receiver/DB" and Coach Anderson agrees. Is #17 durable enough to take the pounding from varsity players on Friday Nights game in and game out? You tell me, I do not know, but you are "Ubiquitous" and are thus everywhere and should know…….
  4. I think it should be HIGHLY encouraged for ALL Football players, not participating in Baseball, to run track. Speed Kills and if you do not work at it, you will not get faster.
  5. I understand he was not kicked out of school, but he is off the team. I pray to God that Brad learns a valuable life lesson from this VERY POOR decision. He, like all teens make bad decisions, but this time it has not only hurt him, it has hurt all of his former team members, coaches and the good people of Jefferson County. On the positive side of Jefferson County football, 4 team members participated in the National Underclassmen Combine in Nashville this past weekend. All fared well in the overall competition. Eric Kane, KC Turner, Jairus Basinger and Anthony Goins represented with good intense performances. I would say they all know what they need to continue working on and improve before Spring practice and during the summer workouts to reach the “promised land” this fall. For those of you interested, TN Varsity has a FREE combine advertised that will be taking place in Oak Ridge May 8th , it is FREE, BUT YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER BEFORE APRIL 20TH. Good Luck and God Bless
  6. That is Awesome News!!! Anytime someone signs a letter of intent should be a time of celebration. Good Luck and God Bless that young man!!!
  7. Interesting post EastTennesseeFootball99, very interesting post. I can think of one college team also that has the QB as their playmaker: Florida with Tim Tebow would be rather fitting. Yes, UF has many other playmakers, just as JCHS does: DK, Mason, Bell, Kountz, Hopkins, ect. (I would like to see a spread/wildcat package put in to complement the speed and size of this team, but that is not my decision, as I am not a coach, it is just a suggestion.) But you fail to answer your own question about who should be the general. Why is that? So, who would you suggest be the starting QB next year? Please enlighten us with your words of wisdom and football knowledge. That way Coach Anderson can make his pick and next fall say, “boy I’m glad I listened to EastTennesseeFootball99. That person, saved our season before we even had spring practice.” Please Sir, we would love to know who you would put in as the JCHS commander on the field. I think no matter who he picks, you and many others would be saying that is a bad decision, just because you have some personal issue with the coach/es or JCHS in general. Also, having been in the military myself, you are correct that Generals lead. And from what I have seen with Goins’ work ethic and the results from that work ethic and effort, he knows how to lead. (12th in the nation at this point of the NIKE combines) He has shown many of the other players that just hitting the weights during school does not get it done. I have seen first hand how hard this young man works, and it is impressive. No wasted motion and always pushing himself and others around him to be better. That is leadership, that is showing the troops how it is done and how to get better in the off-season, so they can hopefully have a better year and make the playoffs. And before you ask: NO, I am not related to him or his good family. Regards and Go Patriots!!! Fear the Cowbell, More Cowbell IS coming!!!!! Join the Cowbell Nation.
  8. I also know that many of the players are not taking a "break" during spring break, but are lifting/working out at the center or at D1 in Knoxville or both. Great job, keep up the hard work team. Keep pushing each other and the encouraging the weaker players to push harder. You may find a diamond in the rough. The hard work will pay off.
  9. Wow, what an uninformed comment coming from the 4life supporter of a team that went undefeated in the regular season only to make a bad mental game decision, I mean “gut” decision at the end of the playoff ball game by NOT throwing the ball into the endzone and lose to the wildcard team at home in the first round. Stopped at the 1. :’( Hate it for the kids who worked so hard last year. (That I truly mean, they deserved a better end to their season.) Maybe you should have kicked the extra point and played it out in OT??????? But that is on the mental side of the game. I guess we all can not be as “smart” or make those “gut” decisions on the mental side of the game as well as the ScBears. So you may wish to be careful before throwing those stones in that glass house you live in. They are ALL 15 to 18 year old high school kids after all, so lay off the “mental” slaps. The athletic achievement speaks volumes on it’s own. Regards
  10. That is awesome! I would be interested to know if that is a record for TN football players to test at the Nike combines. Here is a link to info about SPARQ, but I have not found the records by State. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPARQ_Training Also, here is the link to the 2010 ratings listed so far (the Charlotte and Atlanta ratings not yet updated)and a video of young Mr. Goins: http://rise.espn.go.com/football/recrui ... Index.aspx Way to GO Anthonly way to represent Jefferson County High School!!!
  11. So, his best game was at Bearden in Oct 2008? WOW, this is a true lack of Football knowledge at it best. He played well, for his first start, but best game? you must be joking, Right? As for the preceived lazyness, I know that Goins and several other players are doing extra work outside the "regular" workouts. THEY are eating, drinking and breathing Football. I think you and MANY others will be shocked by the developments in the offseason. All of that said: The coaches do need to put the players on the field who will give the team the best chance to win. A 6A football team with 38 seniors, the bulk of which played on an undefeated Freshmen team, should be a force. But again, it is up to the coaches to put the players on the field. PS: Speed Kills, and I know a few players with speed. MORE Cowbell is Coming!!!!, Fear the Cowbell.
  12. A few questions please: Have any of you ever lied? Have any of you ever "Stretched" the truth? Have any of you ever told someone you were going to do something and the circumstances change to where you had to do something you did not want to do or was contrary to what you told that person? I would say, yes I have to each of these questions. Being that most of you imply that you are “grown” adults, my guess is that you feel you are perfect or near perfect based on the venom of your posts and are thus beyond reproach. So, you would likely answer no to one or all questions. Here is a clue: Only Christ was perfect, none of you are Christ! So quit nit picking about heights and weights in the program guide and newspaper. My son IS 6’2” and 205lbs. His weight was reported to be in the 180’s. NONE of the Tackles/Sacks he had this year on varsity were reported in the paper or to Prepxtra.com correctly. I never once complained or moaned that the coaches were dishonest or cheating “my boy”. Either to them, or here on Coach T. They are human, just like me and YOU. So, get a clue and get over this “we need to have an honest coach and if he is misreporting the heights and weights he is not fit to be a head coach BS” or “ he told my boy he is a “Stud” and my kid is not playing as much as he should be BS”. Because that is what it is, BS (aka: Bovine Feces). 2010 season weight training has started and these volunteer workouts are getting good participation. So, I know the staff/players are moving in the right direction for next year. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation, NOT THE BS NATION!
  13. There is no excuse for you. You may not care. Some people do. Some people have an understanding and respect for tradition that spans more than five decades. No matter what of the size of the school is. Also, I noticed you had no clever comebacks for your football team that could not get it done in 2003. BLANKED IN THE FINALS!!!!!! 21-0 And that little fact can never be changed. Guess you did not want to relive that bad day. In my closing post to the 2009 season on this thread, I know you are glad about that, I am sure you or one of your cronies will slam JCHS or my Indians or me or my family in some way, again. That will be typical of you folks. You will just further prove what classless people you are. Enjoy the playoffs, however long that lasts for you. Only God really knows. GO PATRIOTS!!! GO INDIANS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  14. Thanks Irish423! It is all good. Cards fell where they did. T$$AA still did not have the brackets right this morning. NOT A BIG SHOCK THERE! They should have updated the "wild card" link before announcing the pairings. I started to work one up in excel this morning, but after spending the last 3 weeks working on budgets, my eyes hurt and I do not have that kind of free time. We had a good season and the juniors are working on post season volunteer workouts. The line will need to be bigger and stronger. They know that it will take a great deal of work to get ready for next year if they are to live up to their potential. The Irish will need to play a disciplined game vs Moron-town West. They have won some close games, so it will be interesting to see how much home cooking they get from the refs in a playoff game. Take some cowbells, it will pi-- them off real good. PS: That was a class act thing the Irish did for Scott High last year after the death of the cheerleaders. Good Luck vs Moron-town West and their home cooking. Also, My Indians have an off week before facing someone in round 2 of the 2A playoffs. Please get the class right you MORONS, if you wish to try to insult me. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  15. Our chances are about 5 to 10%, but that is a chance. I do not wish to take the time to explain higher level statistical analysis to you under educated morons from Moron-Town. Also, you folks still need to learn how to spell. "contraceptions", Youuns really dun more better in English didn't ya, over thar in Moron-town. If it happens, it happens. If it does not, oh well, 5-2 for the region is great. We will know Saturday morning. I will take 5-5 after last season and finishing 3rd in the region. The bells will be LOUD and PROUD. To bad for you! Get over it. At least I do not act like it is a funeral. Oh yes, jealous of my Indians. Typical! Slam a person then, I explain myself and the TRADITION from where I come from and then you hate on the school. At least OHS won the state title game the last time they made it to the finals. What was that score of your last trip there?, oh yes 21-0. The last time you folks in Mo-town sniffed a ring was 2003 and to be blanked in the title game too. How pathetic is that? Just shows you were out classed. LMAO Personal Note to you: As far as my parents go, I was adopted. My adopted mother died of Breast Cancer when I was 5 and my adopted dad died from a brain tumor when I was 25. So you may need to get a clue before you start insulting my family. To jchs91, I am not unemployed, nor am I a slacker. The JCHS football team needs to take care of business tonight and let the cards fall where they may. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  16. Actually a chance means you statically can create an opportunity to succeed. Per the T$$AA web site : http://www.tssaa.org/sports/football/pl ... assaaa.htm Jefferson County "MAY" only qualify as a wildcard, "may" equates to CHANCE, therefore we have a chance. Anything could happen tonight and we will find out on Saturday when the dust settles. BWT, since you are throwing around insults: At least our mascot is not named after a civilization that was destroyed by the Greeks or a prophylactic company. Of course, you may not know what that is…….
  17. I just don't get it! I guess it's OK to trash the team? Someone tell me it is just a few idiots that post on here.Someone tell me that the majority on the citizens of Jefferson County are not like this. This is disheartening to say the least.Graduates{?} from 1991 and 1999 saying all these mean this about their fellow Alumni. Was your life in high school so bad?Did you not make the team or maybe only see a little action. It wasn't Fair was it?You were the Best !! Right? That is what your Mommy and Daddy said. Right? It was politics..Right?.I know ..I know It's easier to Be a Hater than to cry .BIG boys don't cry they just lash out.I have an idea... #1 Get off your sister,It's unnatural and illegal . ..#2 Stop drinking things made in a radiator..It's killing what's left of your brain cells!!...#3 Learn your shape/colors/numbers and a little basic english and just maybe Walmart will hire you this time...#4 sell grandads hunting rifle and use the money to have those SKITTLES you call teeth pulled and replaced. ..#5 STOP blamming YOUR FAILURES on others..You can{with a lot of work} still get a GED !!I know your prospects are few but there should be a few places left that will hire the educationally/mentally/physically/socially challenged!..#6.Give your future posts some more thought next time..Many of our players read these postings. ! Try to be supportive of the young men that play this game.Get a Cowbell or come sit by me and borrow one of mine......PATRIOTS I am proud of all of you ! JCHS rocks !.Good luck tonight against SOUTH DOYLE !! With a win we will be 5 and 2 in the conferance.I sure hope that's good enough to get to the playoffs!!!......"I've got a fever and the only cure is more COWBELL" !!...dvp4life Good luck to "Suitcase" Scott Meadows in all his future endeavors. Nope, My guess is his "REAL" problem is that he was NOT a player when Jeff won "the Ring" and he hates everyone for it. So sad when you focus all your HATE on teenage kids who have more athletic talent in one broken finger than you do in your whole body. Except maybe your dreams where you are a "real" stud player. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  18. Actually, they do have a chance at a wild card. No matter how much you wish they did not. So enjoy your run in the playoffs and keep your negaivity to yourself and your trojan's. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  19. You are correct, it is not about fairness. It is about more money for the T$$AA and the new fangled classifications they put together. I still think that the old classifications from last year worked just fine for parity and that they could have mixed the schools in the districts around to cut down on travel costs if that was the “real” goal. I think that we MAY get a wild card if we DISTROY South Doyle. I am talking 55-0, but even that may not be enough. I hate that is comes down to destroying the other team, but that may be the only way to wild card our way into a playoff spot. Either way, provided we win Friday night, this was a better season than last. Good Luck to the seniors in your future endeavors. May God smile on you and may you keep Him first in your heart. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  20. WOW EastTennesseeFootball99, What Great Positive comments you have made after a BIG win vs. Mo-East. Why aren’t you Mr. Positive this week! I did not hear a single “rational” parent of the undefeated freshmen class in 2007 say that their kid should be starting on varsity that season. IMHO, maybe only Brad Mason had the speed at that time to help with the kickoffs as a middle returner, but that is a BIG maybe. As far as the team’s record goes, they played one of the toughest schedules in the state for the first 4 games, but you obviously have a short term memory lapse from us playing on the road the 3 of the first 4 games and playing a preseason top ten Bearden team for the home opener. First of all, I am not ignorant, nor is my wife. Nor are ANY members of the Cowbell Nation. To imply or state so shows how much you actually LOATHE the school, the kids and the fans in general who cheer for the team no matter what. We are NOT embarrassed to show school sprit! I never quit, I never surrender. It is an Army thing. You may or may not understand. Also, during one of the last home games, my wife gave a child a small set of bells that my daughter made and the smile on that child’s face was priceless. Last week, we had a couple of other small children ask if they could ring a bell. We had extras and they rang some and they watched the game some and had a good time. You need to get a clue about supporting the team during a game and growing a fan base. You also obviously have no clue how many times I have been told by the players that THEY appreciate hearing those cowbells and knowing that we support them, not cussing them or at them. You play the schedule you are given, in the region you are placed in, Period. The combined record of ALL the opponents that we have played is 45 wins to 36 losses. That would include an undefeated SC team so, No one is deceiving themselves. Finishing 5-5 and having an outside shot at a wild card is better than folding the tents and saying “Oh shucks, we lost one or two games and decided we will not play anymore and give effort or show up to practice or run or do any of the hundreds of other things it takes to get ready to play on High School Football on Friday nights. Maybe we should just quit and give up.” These young men gave a heck of an effort this season despite people like you constantly putting them down. You must be a bitter person to have so much hatred of the current coaching staff. These men give up more time effort and energy and do not deserve such tripe. Also, you need to run your postings through a spell check. Your grammar is atrocious. I do find it interesting to read your opinions about Jeff County football and the fan support. If all we did as fans was sit on our hands, keep our mouths shut and act like we are at a funeral, well that would be a disservice to the young men who give up so much to give us a few hours of memories on Friday Nights. May God Bless them all!!!!!! GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation. PS: Oh yes, BTW to those of you who hate me because I am not “from here", my Oneida High School Indians, that would be OHS, locked up ANOTHER District title and should be hosting a playoff game or two. They smacked the taste out of that much improved Sunbright team. This week it is off to Jellico before the November schedule begins. Again: GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  21. I don't know OleTiger, I might just move back to watch my oldest play for the Big Orange and Coach Wright, who I played for in Jr. High. (Great memories) My oldest is 16, 6'2", 205 D-end for Jeff County. You folks in Not-so-bright need to lay of the cool-aid and get a clue. Oneida should win by 25, if the game is not called for rain. Go Big Orange, Go Patriots
  22. Our D will have to gang tackle and swarm to the ball, but not over pursue to allow cutback lanes. We are quicker on D this year, but we need to force more turnovers, especially in this game. We need to play lights out D and East has a fast field that makes T even faster, so we must take the correct angles when going at him. We need sustained drives and score TD’s early so, the O-line needs to play above their heads and stay with their blocks. A few quick slants or a tight-end pop pass could loosen the East D up and allow for some running room. The weatherman says that it is to rain on Friday, AGAIN, so ball security should be a FOCUS this week during the good weather. I think we can win, if we hold onto the ball and stay focused. I will be there with my Cowbells supporting the team, bring your bell and join in the fun. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  23. Thanks counteroption! You are a class act. Well folks, not to state the obvious, but that was a tough loss. After watching the game a couple of times via the DVR, I have concluded we need to get much stronger in the off season AND we are not working out enough during the season.. SEVERAL times our offensive linemen were being tossed around like rag dolls. I know our conditioning is there as far as cardio goes, but when you are a “power” veer running team, your O-line has to be stronger than it is now. IMHO, we need to hire a strength coach who has a nutritionist background to give good direction to the team. The D and Special teams were VERY good. EKirkpatrick did an MVP job on both. Great to see all of the players flying to the ball and wrapping up. Having Thomas Cook and Eric Kane at linebacker is fun to watch. Brad Mason is a Beast. The block he threw to spring McFall after Mo-West scored the TD was a thing of beauty. I think McFall would have had a bigger gain on the kickoff return, but it looked like he lost his footing when he neared the 30. I give two thumbs way up for the rotation of the D-line. They never looked gassed. Considering the final score was the same as the score with 5 minutes left in the 1st half, D and Special teams rocked. As far as playing conditions go, rain is rain and mud is mud. Both teams are running teams and it is VERY hard to cut or even push off for any speed in the open field when you are running in near liquefied sand. The TD Mo-West scored was a well executed play. One of our linebackers went too deep inside and #7 ran toward daylight and 62 yards later the score was 7-3. Great play by a good player. More than likely it will rain next Friday too, so wet ball drill this week is a must. Mo-East won tonight and will be looking to make us 0 for Mo-town next Friday. The team has to put this game in the past and focus on ball security and beating Mo-East. Keep your heads up Patriots. Never quit, Never surrender! GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation. PS to TommyTrojan: I do not generally go to b-ball games. I yell WAY too much at the officials and I believe that T$$AA rules do not allow noise making devices for indoor events. Oh yes, BTW to those of you who hate me because I am not “from here”, my Oneida High School Indians are well on their way to ANOTHER District title and hosting a playoff game or two. They smacked the taste out of Coalfield tonight and should have a tough game vs. a much improved Sunbright team next week and then at Jellico before the November schedule begins. Nothing is guaranteed but, I despise Coalfield and wanted to give my Orange and White boys some props. AGAIN: GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
  24. Nope, it is all that Cowbell Ringing in his ears. Great effort by the whole team. Glad to see the younger/less experienced players get some quality time for a second game. That will pay off in the long run. The Defense has that swagger that I love to see in a successful D. The offence is clicking and running that jumbo package with #44 in motion, Mason and DK is Killer. The O-line has jelled and the D-line/Linebackers are doing a great job. Secondary, other than one long pass play that McFall ran down, they are denying the cheap easy passes and doing an awesome job in run support. Great to see Thomas Cook back on the field too. One more thing before I move on: I could not figure out why the Chiefs kept running their mouth and drawing unsportsmanlike like conduct penalties. That was dumb. Thursday is the BIG game on TV. Please wear your Blue and Bring a Cowbell. The nation is growing and I have been told by several players that they love the support and it drives the other team crazy when we are on D. Simple etiquette with Cowbells: 1. Ring them loud and proud when we are on D. 2. Do not ring them when a player is injured or the refs are conferencing. 3. Ring them after we have a good play on offence. The point is to support the kids and distract the other team. Trust me, it works. Our kids love it and the other team hates us for it. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell Nation.
  25. Hello Folks, It is Home Coming Week! Any thoughts from anyone on game week prep with school being out Monday and Tuesday as well as coming off an off week. PS: Cooke Co has won their first game in 23 tries vs the Union Co Patriots. GO PATRIOTS!!! More Cowbell is coming!!!! Fear the Cowbell!!! Join the Cowbell nation.
