I'm suprised i haven't heard anything on Alcoa's athletes this year. Who is Alcoa's fastest player this season?

well stained, i hope we were both watching the same game at wartburg and os. Like i said wartburg did well in the 1st half of the first game, but in the second half, post some adjustments, os dominated on defense allowing no more than 70 rushing yards and i think barely over 100 total yards due to 2 plays at the end that wasn't enough. os also outscored the dogs 21-0 in the 2nd half. The 2nd game should have been evenly matched due to weather, that way its not a track meet, but who can overpower/ wants it more. I've suprisingly never heard of someone winning because someone is so fat and slow that the defense was slipping off them. i thought that usually came with speed. so that didn't really make a whole lot of since. It seems to me that after that storm wartburg players got on tv and built up too much hype before the game and could not live up to it. I saw one person out there who was fired up and looked like they wanted to play.

well 75 no one doubts the ability of coaches or the players, young or old. All i know is from watching last years wartburg team in some big games, other than ours, they seem to choke when its really on the line. I knew last year that they could compete; but after watching the rockwood game, ours, and some other not really tough non region games, they did well to be in the situation they finished in. The only reason I say anything about non region games is it is supposed to give you a better look or more experience come playoff time. Anyway like i said, i am looking forward to week 5 or 6 to watch both of these apparant evenly matched lines go at it. By the way, were you on tv before the playoff game last year? I was just wandering.

swildcat did you mean that rockwood was #8 last year in 2a? i only ask because under the current playoff system, they could only finish at #9 at the highest.

well 75 i trust that you played last year at wartburg like i did at os. If you know anything about strenth you know that bench is not everything. Like its been said experience and a completeness of the line to react together or be in sync is a majority of its strenth. They may or may not be good benchers, but we'll see in the game how experience will face youth.

after the new arangements in 2a, how will gatlinburg pittman do in the region and playoffs?

well 75 i am from os and it seems to me your from wartburg. i seem to know a lot about os because i've seen the team workout and play; therefore, i call it like i see it.

I can't say too much yet, but keep an eye on Oliver Springs' line this year. Like I said, its too early to tell, but i've heard best line in years or even school history. If you know ven a little about os f-ball, they take pride in the o line.

I just want to give a shout out to the Smith County players out there. I'm an Oliver Springs player who has much respect for you all. I enjoied playing with you all for 2 seasons and; although i didn't like it, splitting a 2 year series. Anyway best of luck to you all. Much respect and love.

i believe just about all of you might be crazy. I'm not so much a fan as a realist. Does anyone happen to know where os finished in the state rankings last year? How about #7. Thats not too bad to me. Now granted they are not the best in high school football history, but count on them being good this year. Oh, and don't forget about that always stingy defense people have come to know. Like Central for instance, who was outdone in the final 6 quarters by os by a score of 43-0. They also have a dominant senior class of athletes returning for one more trip. Don't get me wrong, the region and new schedule will be tough, but I think they will finish in the top 5 this year. You never can tell about these things though, that is why they play the game.

There is no doubt in my mind. It is coach Jones of Oliver Springs. He's always got one of the best defenses in region 2-2a. He has a lot of game day intensity that he dosen't mind sharing with his players.

Well, this is an interesting division this year. I still think that Ezel-Harding will be a tough team to beat. Especially after last years early playoff loss.

Well i can't say for sure this year, but watch in a couple of years for freshman db David Collett from oliver springs. He was able to get 7 pics this year in the first 5 varsity games. I can't explain what happened after that, he should have finished with about 13 or 15. He also gained some valuable experience. He played against All-State QB Will Healy, who lead BB to a state title game in A. Also, he played against 1 top 10 AAA team, as well as a top 4 AA team.

People better take a look in os for a good AA team. I'm betting on a top 5 finish with all the talent they have comming back.That's players and coaches. I'm not going to guarantee state like sweetwater and eat crow; but i think they will be a good top 5 team.

I was at the game last night and I stayed to watch the shows after the game. and the os drumline tore the place up. I have never seen a line like that in my life. they are the best in the state garunteed.

i think another big one will be one renewed just last season. oliver springs and kingston has the potential to come in like they did last year when they played in week 5, undefeated. it's bragging rights for the game and usually the county.

last year i played smith co. at their place. it was one of the weirdest places i've seen. First the visiting lockeroom was huge and the place is all one big hill leading down to a valley or the field. they had about 3 or 4 thousand there compared to our 100-150. pre game was boring for us; they had a great band, fireworks, explosions, and some sort of student section. not to mention the team was good. it took al we had to beat them.

NO DOUBT IN MY MIND, THE BIGGEST RIVALRY GAME IN MY OPINION WILL BE OZ AND SWEETWATER. THIS IS A GAME THAT WILL COME DOWN TO NOTHING BUT HEART.OZ WAS ROBBED TWICE LAST YEAR AND HAVE HIGHLIGHTED THIS GAME A LONG TIME AGO. MOST PLAYERS FOR OS KNOW IT WILL BE TOUGH AND ARE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING IT TAKES TO BE READY.OH, TO 21DLATHAM...WE READY!
