  1. Biggest problem I have with the Top 100 currently is that it has hurt the attendance at our local events. Not only are they poorly attended, but there are less of them. Nobody wants to contend with the Top 100. We need a larger pool of wrestlers to sustain two tournaments in one weekend that take wrestlers out of the "local" pool.
  2. Makes sense to me. I have a JR 140 that is in 6th grade that one this weekend. I just wanted to be able to intelligently answer his questions. Thanks for the help!
  3. Both actually. Already spoke with Coach Hamblin about Elementary. For the MS team it is my understanding that, 6th grade Juniors that are the same weight as the MS champion can't challenge. Is this correct?
  4. Does anyone know who is coaching it or who is on it?
  5. They should allow challenges for second in that case. When you don't truly seed an event you could see the "Finals Match" play out in earlier rounds. If the guy that is good enough to get second gets put out early due to seeding, he desrves a chance at true second IMO. Once again not worth much, and like I always tell my boy, "you have to win them all no matter what".
  6. I will have fliers at the State Tournament this weekend. Already have commitments from several in and out of state clubs.
  7. This was a suggestion I had in another post. See what you think. I just wanted to see what everyone thought about possibly changing the format of the Tour of TN Top 100. It seems that we are starting to get more out of state guys in these tournaments which means TN competition levels are becoming more widely recognized and this is great. That being said if we changed the format of the series to NOT include the State and Region tournaments in the scoring, I think you would see more teams coming from out of state to compete for the belt. In this format keep the scoring the same, have 4 tournaments and 1 Tour of TN Grand Championship where the belt winners are crowned. If you did this I think the competition would skyrocket and the event would become huge throughout the Southeast. Thoughts???
  8. Hopefully they will give some weight to the kids past accomplishments at State and placing at Region Saturday. Especiallly since there is no challenge for 2nd. In this case you really have to do some sort of seeding.
  9. In Region 5 we don't even know who is on the team.
  10. It would be nice to know how the seeding will be handled no wthat there are 5 Regions. I would suspect it would be by the following, but this is just my guess/opinion for what it is worth. 1. Returning State Champion and Region Champion 2. Returning State Placer and Region Champion 3. Returning State Champion and Region Placer 4. Returning State Placer and Region Placer 5. Based on Trackwrestling rating. What do you think or does someone know what it is?

  12. Not seeing any new USA Olympic singlets after 2016 will be very annoying. Join the Save Olympic Wrestling page on Facebook and sign the petition!
  13. Keep Wrestling in the Olympics Facebook page is reaching 10000 likes in less than 5 hours of existance. Keep it going.
  14. This is bad for USA Wrestling. The sport has seemed to be on the rise. This is a big hit. We must ban together and do what we can. This is really horrible for countrys like Azerbaijan. So much for IOC's alleged standard of universality for sports:modern pentathlon had athletes from 26 countries in London; wrestling,71 — Philip Hersh (@olyphil) February 12, 2013
  15. Sad day for wrestling. All my 8 year old can talk about now is being an Olympian after what Jordan Burroughs did last year. What does this do to our sport?
  16. Knee up the butt... Knee up the butt.... Knee up the butt!
  17. How about this timeless classic. HALF HALF HALF and repeat!
  18. I love coaching youth tournaments and little johnnies daddy, who knows nothing about wrestling is trying to coach and record johnnie over my back. Then when you ask him to get out of your corner he wants to fight you. Great times!
  19. That was the point of the post was that they have more issues than just the price increase, just another great thing about wrestling in TN is that it is generally low in cost compared to other states. I am just trying to point out, from an unbiased stand point (as you can see from my past posts) that TNAAU is doing pretty good contrary to the post you graced us with a few weeks ago!
  20. I just would like to express my thanks to all the volunteers that support TNAAU wrestling. In the past I have not always agreed with everything, but sometimes when you are a leader you are going to have to make decisions that don't necessarily please everyone. No matter how you feel about TNAAU you have to agree that we are headed in the right direction. We have been wrestling in TNAAU for 5 years now and wrestling has grown and competition has improved each year. Just in Clarksville which is a microcosm of the state, we have grown from 1 club to 3 clubs and with those clubs filling up, I expect it to grow from that number. All that being said if you want to see what happens when leadership and members start to grow discontented with each other and the two sides don't work together just check out the Team GA forum. The membership fee has went from $35 to $46 and parents are completely removing their children from the state tournament. I am proud to be member of TNAAU. Thanks for all you guys do! Keep up the hard work! http://www.gnwa.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20745&sid=a0b99588dd82b7418723effdc288f0e1
  21. The wrestler list has been posted. See TNAAU does listen Thank you Arlington!
  22. Thanks for the inside scoop. Regaurdless we will probably show up. We haven't missed one yet. It's a long haul though!
