Every time Elizabethton played somebody from Knoxville, they lost... 1995 lost to Powell in the 1st round 1996 lost to Powell in the 1st round 1997 lost to Maryville in the semis 1998 lost to Maryville in the semis 1999 lost to Knox Central in the semis 2000 lost to Greeneville in the 2nd round Who has Elizabethton ever beat that was not in north east TN? 2009 beat AE 31-8 How does it feel to be the first K-TOWN team to lose to BETSY .

Any team in 3A in the whole state? Have you seen Tyner, Howard, Alcoa, Austin-East, Pearl-Cohn?? I suspect that this opinion has no basis. Maybe they are as quick as anybody in north east TN. Has anyone on this post seen Austin-East play? Austin-East has more team speed than Elizabethton. I've seen betsy on film. ColumbiaBlueNScarlet it is clear now you know nothing about speed . Asheville was much quicker than AE .

I love being the underdog because we can go out and play and have fun because we all know we are not supposed to beat Alcoa.Just do your best Betsy and you knows we might pull out the biggest upset of all time.

Averaging 55 points against South Greene, West Greene, Cumberland Gap, Chuckey-Doak, and Grainger has helped their ppg average. Austin-East seems to be more run oriented than Greeneville. Throughout the season, Austin-East has developed an offensive scheme that is very hard to defend. The only thing that was missing midway through the season was the ability to get timely pass completions, but they have improved on that too. I don't see Elizabethton shutting down Austin-East's run game. Austin-East will score more than 14 points on betsy. I don't think 8 is more than 14 there columbiabluenscartet

I went up to preston itaro after the game and told him he wasn't supposed to have that speed and he said thats east tennessee speed baby.This cyclones team is focused and that was one heck of a game.We are proud of you betsy and all i can say is we are RTD baby.

On that play, they didn't look impressive. Both DTs got too far up field... when that happens, the MLB doesn't have a chance. One DB had his back turned, one DB had his hands on his knees, and one DB did a skip/hop turn instead of a technically sound hip turn. Maybe they just had a bad play, but they did not look impressive on that play. Like i said earlier they are 10-0 and ranked 3rd in north carolina.Enough said

Well FYI if Carter Co decided to consolidate and make 1 high school the enrollment according to TSSAA would be approximately 2482, which would make it the 2nd largest high school in the state. So the high school would join District 1-AAA competing with you know who and since it would be a 6A school it would compete with D-B and Science Hill for only 1 automatic qualifier to get in playoffs. Which means the playoff bracket for this hypothetical school would lead to Maryville, Farragut, and Bearden on a consistent basis. If you would rather this scenario be the case on a yearly basis for Carter Co then I would have to strongly disagree. When dave rider was coaching he begged them to consolidate.We dont have to worry about it anyway because it will never happen but it would be interesting to see how well we could do and if you think about it we already compete with science hill with the enrollment we have now and i know we would have to play maryville but look who we have to play now alcoa who beat maryville this year.I ask dave a couple of weeks ago if he still thought they should do it and he said yes but he also said he didn't think it would ever happen.

It might be true that were not as good as the knoxville teams but i dont really care because i love watching high school football.I have watched every local team play and they all have good athletes.If they would put the county schools with elizabethton i bet we could compete with k-town but i dont think that will happen.Cyclones just play your best win or lose because will be there to support you either way.Ive seen the good times and the bad times the last 28yrs and im still here just older.Just play hard and have fun along the way.GO BETSY

Its funny how all of a sudden AE is the best team since sliced butter and i am telling right now say what you want to about asheville high school but they are a good team and are just as good as AE if not better.If AE beats betsy ill be the first one to say great job but if betsy wins i want to hear the AE fans say we finally beat one of those knoxville teams that we never have beat.

Time to go to work and i think ill tell shawn to get ready because the speedy roadrunners are coming in here so fast he will miss them if he dont look real quick.

Maybe we will start that tradition this friday night it has to start some time.Roadrunner1 you people think your the only ones to ever see speed and i think thats funny and by the way we are happy for jason witten he is a great athlete and a great person so just keep him out of this thread.Tennessee high was our biggest rival not science hill and that shows how much you know about betsy.I guess will see friday night if a slow cyclone team can beat a speedy AE power house team out of knoxville.

You talk about playing up. Greeneville played up too. Prior to this year, Greeneville and Elizabethton would have been in 3A. Since 2000, Greeneville has beat Elizabethton 7 times and only lost once (2004). Maybe Elizabethton wins one or two more games if they don't play up, but they would not have beaten Fulton or Austin-East from 2000-2008, or Catholic from 2003-2008. The best Knoxville teams are better than the best north east TN teams. If we would have played where we belonged from 1995 to 1999 we would have beat some of those knoxville power house teams you talk about but we didn't so lets just talk about this game coming up friday night.This should be a good game for both teams.They are both athletic and have good speed so come on down to cow town and lets get the party started.

Sometimes it does, when you are talking about a high caliber team. South gave Betsy props earlier this year. Wow, just trying to help you out dude. I was trying to lend towards Betsy's athletic ability and speed. Typically when you are talking speed, NET isn't the first part of the state people think of (with the exception of a couple of the track athetes). Elizabethton is an exception to this stereotype this year. Since you don't like the scrimmage and South example, I apolgize for not being able to use an actual Betsy vs South GAME, but the Rebs had to find someone else to schedule in the EHS void - Gate City (they were weak) instead. So sorry for giving your team a little credit. Pudding thanks for the complements and i do aggree that betsy is as quick as any team in 3A and both teams have played good schedules .
