  1. CCS must be glad their game with Notre Dame is at Sequatchie, and not in their tiny ballpark. Sam Eberle can hit it out of CCS field one-handed. He will probably be limited to only 2 home runs tonight....but it will be enough. Go IRISH!
  2. I agree. Sam Eberle will lead ND to state. Anybody reading this from other parts of the state, all I can say is, back up...and wear body armor if possible. He is amazing. Anyone who puts it down the middle is asking for trouble.
  3. Nope. broadbat aint a Red Bank guy, but I am. And I agree with him on this one. The coach should have given his team a chance to win.
  4. Wonder if Ooltewah remembers district tournament 2004? I guess not!
  5. I heard that Ooltewah people are already reserving hotel rooms in Memphis for the Spring Fling. I think that's great. It's nice of them to drive all that way to cheer for Red Bank!
  6. Red Bank will go all the way. Even if Henry isn't pitching his best, there are several others, including some freshmen who can. I'd love to see the mighty Owls and Trojans try to hit against 9th grader Brandon Ward. That would be fun. Prepare to be amazed. I just saw the latest poll on chattanoogabaseball.com, which doesn't even include Red Bank in the top 10. Keep on dreaming, dude. Red Bank has already beaten about half the teams in the so-called top 10, and Ooltewah is next. Red Bank could beat Baylor, every year, but for some reason Baylor won't play them. Wonder what's up with that?
  7. The true top 10: 1) Ooltewah. No doubt. 2) Baylor. Best pitchers. 3) Walker Valley. Lots of talent 4) Grundy Co. Good every year. 5) McCallie. They'll come around, they always do. 6) Red Bank. Temporary dry spell this week. 7) Hixson. Will their players come back? 8) Cleveland. Kind of up and down. 9) Soddy. They'll sneak up on you. 10) East Ridge. Better than I thought they would be.
  8. Nope. 2 guys, same computer.
  9. Good point. Grundy and Marion are mixed up. I think Soddy's better than a lot of people think.

    Hixson

That's funny, I thought MG was a baseball player. At least yall used to claim him.

    Hixson

Oh well, Hixson is # 1 in something after all: Suspensions! Between last year and this year, seems like the Wildcats would learn to stay out of trouble if they wanna play ball!
  12. Red Bank dominated Notre Dame 6-0 on Saturday night. The Lions smacked Notre Dame's ace senior pitcher, who easily beat Soddy Daisy earlier this year. It was a big night for Beau Geren and freshman outfielder Brandon Ward, each with 2 hits and 2 rbis. Junior pitcher Aaron Allen blanks the Irish on 3 hits. Red Bank's defense was perfect, while Notre Dame made 6 errors. Red Bank goes to 7-3 for the year. Watch out Ooltewah, the Lions are on the way!
  13. Not to take anything from Ooltewah, but it must be an off-year for Rhea County. This is the same team Red Bank beat 22-0 in a scrimmage a week ago.
  14. I noticed the Times Free Press didn't even mention Red Bank in its preview today, focusing on some of the other teams. I think it's funny that the Lions are "under the radar" this year. That makes it easier to sneak up from behind!
  15. hiway 58, I think Red Bank will win this year too, but you have to observe the rules of this message board. 1. Never pick Red Bank over Ooltewah in anything. 2. Never disagree with nokona or grad, or they'll whip out their SAT's on you. 3. Never, ever imply that Hixson can't stay on the field against AAA teams. If you'll observe these simple rules, we can all get along.
  16. Not sure of the exact lineup. The coach likes to spend a few games working it all out. I do know that last year's lineup was dominated by a lot of juniors (with only one senior), so the seniors should be primed and ready this year.
  17. A couple of notes: If you are including Walker Valley as part of Chattanooga's Top 10, I would revise my list to put them at # 2, just under Red Bank, and just ahead of Ooltewah. And you guys who rank Hixson ahead of McCallie and/or Red Bank have a great sense of humor. And finally, YES, there are padded stats around here. In the good spirit of Coach T, I won't name any schools....but you know who you are. There are a whole lot of scorebooks kept by moms, or friends of certain players, and pretty much anything that hits the ground is scored a hit....whether it should have been caught or not. Let's just say that seeing a game in person, or reading the linescore in the paper are often two very different things. It's hard to "lie" about scoring in basketball or football. In baseball, it is much easier. A lot of coaches know this is going on, but they look the other way, because it makes them look better to have a .500 hitter, or a pitcher with an ERA or 1.50.
  18. Well, Walker Valley is 35 miles away from Chattanooga, and since this post is called Chattanooga's top 10..... As far as Ooltewah having no superstars, that is not meant as an insult. I rated them highly, at number two because they are not carried by one or two players. They have good balance as a team, and work well together. They have very good players, and are a very good team. But they don't have one standout I would put in the superstar category like Wilkes from Central the past couple of years, Ryan Moore from McCallie last year, Wes Hodges from Baylor a few years back or Fabry & Cofer from this year's Red Bank team, or Long at CCS.
  19. I agree with your top two, but the rest will shake out differently: 1. Red Bank (several 4-year starters, loaded, top to bottom) 2. Ooltewah (no superstars, but good balance) 3. McCallie (lost a lot of talent last year, but still very good) 4. Notre Dame (good mix of experience & youth) 5. Baylor (great coaching, great pitching) 6. Soddy-Daisy (could surprise, Garland is amazing) 7. Central (Wilkes will be tough to replace) 8. Chatt. Christian (not much depth, but Long is a superstar) 9. East Ridge (new coach has big shoes to fill) 10. Tie: Hixson, Boyd-Buchanan, Grace (all lost key starters last year(
  20. Red Bank figures to be an offensive powerhouse this year. With Fabrey and Miller setting the table for Cofer and their other returning hitters, I don't think anyone will come close. They only lost one starter to graduation, and they were real close to going all the way last year.
  21. In the Chattanooga area, you've got 3 greats: Etter at Baylor, Garland at SD and Wingate at Ooltewah. The rest are either on the way up, on the way down, or stuck in mediocrity.

    Hixson

12 wins? Let's see. Doubleheaders against Tyner, Howard and CSAS. That's 6 guaranteed wins right there. Surely the mighty Cats can get 6 more during the year!

    Hixson

Of course Hixson will win 12 games. Have you seen the teams on their schedule? Hixson Middle could win 12 games against those teams.
  24. I'd have to go with Reese Cofer and Jacob Fabry of Red Bank. Both four year starters, both with all the tools. They can do it all, and should lead the Lions to an incredible season.
  25. Red Bank will give Ooltewah all they can handle. I think it's kind of cool that Ooltewah gets all the hype, because Red Bank will still be standing at the end.
