Tullahoma won the Middle School tournament in a final against Shelbyville Harris: 2 - 0.
  3. Good grief. I have seen a lot of things over the years of participating in soccer but tonight was a first. I was watching the World Cup qualifying game in Mexico against El Salvador. Mexico received a direct kick outside the 18 of El Salvador and as the keeper from El Salvador was lining up his wall, the fans from Mexico were trying to shine laser lights in his eyes. This was an apparent attempt to distract him or blind him from seeing the ball. Has anyone else seen this before? Now, I will have to watch for something else during games.
  4. Each district has to set up their own by-laws. TSSAA does not care. They don't even care if you have a district tournament. They just expect each district to tell them which two teams will be playing in the state tournament progression. Good luck.
  5. Cookeville 6-0-0 = 18 points with Cumberland and White County left Cumberland Co 2-1-4 = 10 points with Cookeville left. Congratulations on finishing second. Coffee Co 2-3-2 = 8 points with no games left Warren Co 2-5-1 = 7 points with no games left White Co 1-3-3 = 6 points with Cookeville left With first and second place set in the district, all that is left is for the game to be played next week with White County and Cookeville. The question is will Cookeville play for pride against Cumberland County and White County and try to win for the sake of running the tables against all the teams and finish the season undefeated in the district. Or, will they take advantage of their first place finish and no pressure going into the district tournament and rest their players to let some of the younger players get some playing time and not worry about winning. These are always challenging questions to any coach. If White County were to tie Cookeville, then they would tie Warren County on points and 4th and 5th places would have to be decided by the tie breaker system. Regardless, the play in game would be between White County and Warren County with the winner playing Cookeville. The other first round game would have Coffee County playing at Cumberland County. If somehow White County were to beat Cookeville next week, then they would move into third place and travel to Cumberland County for the first round of the district. That would then have Warren County traveling to Coffee County for the play in game with the winner playing Cookeville. So, we will have to wait till next week before everything is finalized. Good luck to everyone and keep having fun.
  6. Points and games left in the district. Cookeville 6-0-0 = 18 points with White County and Cumberland County left Coffee Co 2-4-2 = 8 points with no district games left Cumberland Co 1-2-4 = 7 points with Warren County and Cookeville left Warren Co 2-4-1 = 7 points with Cumberland County left White Co 1-3-3 = 6 points with Cookeville left
  7. Uh, oh. After Tuesday night, Coffee County has finished all their games with 8 points. Cumberland County and Warren County now sit tied with 7 points. This means this Thursday night's game at Cumberland County could decide second place for the winner. What happens if Cumberland County and Warren County tie and they end up with 8 points and you have a three way tie for second place? Does anyone know the tie breaker method for deciding the district standings?
  8. Does anyone have the Coffee County and Cumberland County score from tonight?
  9. District 5 AAA will play District 6 AAA in the regions. Probably Cleveland and Soddy Daisy will play Cookeville and ??? (Warren County, hopefully).
  10. Arsenal - thanks for getting us the correct info. That would mean that Coffee County and Warren County will play each other in the first round and the winner of the Cumberland County and White County game will play at Cookeville. Sounds like fun and I wish the best for everyone.
  11. Cookeville 6-0-0 = 18 points Coffee Co 2-3-2 = 8 points Warren Co 2-3-1 = 7 points Cumberland Co 0-1-4 = 4 points White Co 0-3-3 = 3 points Congrats to Cookeville on securing first place. Second place is still up in the air but I predict that it will go to Warren County. That would have White County playing at Warren County and Cumberland County playing at Coffee County for the first round of the District Tournament. I have not seen or heard anything from the coaches to know what their District By Laws are and how they have determined what the progression would look like. The only thing that I have heard (not confirmed) is that the lower seeded teams will play at the higher seeded teams for the first round. If this is wrong, will someone with first hand knowledge please post the correct progression as I have others to ask me and we would like to know. Good luck to everyone.
  12. My understanding is that the teams from District 6 AAA will have to play the teams from District 5 AAA for the Region. Which would have them playing the teams in the Chattanooga area instead of Murfreesboro for the Regions and then they would face the District 7 & 8 AAA Region finalists to advance to the State Tournament. If this is wrong, then someone can correct me. Yes, District 6 AAA is very, very weak compared to other districts with Cookeville being the only competitive team in the district. However, I think they are able to advance and to compete against other teams outside their district including District 7 AAA. Regardless, this is getting to a fun time of the year and I wish everyone good luck.
  13. I thought that folks that had been around for a long time knew that one of the tricks of some Keepers was to kick the goal posts in while they are guarding a particular goal and them to kick them out wider than normal when they leave the goal so when the opposing Keeper comes into the goal it will be wider than it is supposed to be. Where we used to really watch for it being an advantage was in in indoor soccer. LOL
  14. If any of these stats are wrong, please correct them. However, this is what I am able to see so far for District 6 AAA. Cookeville 5-0-0 = 15 points Coffee Co 2-1-2 = 8 points Warren Co 1-3-1= 4 points Cumberland Co 0-1-3 = 3 points White Co 0-3-2 = 2 points
  15. I believe the score with Warren County vs Fairview was 0 to 0 with goals called back for offsides. Also, Warren County defeated Franklin County 2 to 1.
  16. Check that: Eurosports has them scheduled to play Sunday night at 6:00. Is this correct?
  17. Does anyone know if Cleveland and Riverdale played and if so, a score?

Columbia 2 and Siegel 0 So much for the Riverdale and Siegle match up for the combined district and regional championship game.

So, it would just be a "no game" if that is the case and this avoids getting into a "forfeit" situation. Better for everyone and to send the plaques back to the State.

By the way: White County had to "forfeit" to Siegel which is why the game went down officially as 1 to 0. That eliminated them from any further post season play which did not make any difference to them as their season was over with any way.

There are problems with the can of worms that has been opened by two coaches getting together and making this decision on their own. First of all, how is the game that was supposed to be held recorded with the State? If it is a situation where Siegel is making a forfeit to Riverdale to give Riverdale the championship, then are they still eligible to continue in post season play? The rule used to be with TSSAA that any team that forfeited also lost their chance to participate in post season play that season. The only way they could possibly by pass the rules is to simply call it a "no game" and in that case, neither team would receive any plaque for the district title or runner up. Did TSSAA approve the decision? If not, there could be reprecussions that could cost both teams the opportunity to advance.

I think you are missing the point. It is not about favoritism or liking one team over another. It is about finishing what has been started and following past practices. The game could have been played some way or another. The other district got their game in even though they had to go to a later start time to get the field into playing condition. I don't buy the bit about not playing on Sunday afternoon because it is Mother's Day. Sorry, but the girls are playing today down in Chattanooga for the Division III State Championship. Riverdale could have used the field out in front of their school this afternoon. Finally, this is the problem that I have with setting this precedent, now that this has been started, how will future situations be decided? They are calling for bad weather all this week. What happens if none of the Regional games are able to be played because of the weather? Two teams out of this region are supposed to play on Saturday in the sub-state: who gets to advance if none of the regional games are played due to weather? How would you make the decision? See, once you go down this path there is no stopping. In the past, we made every effort to get the district games in. This included even moving the games to a different city where a playable field was. I know because I was a part of those decisions in the past to find another field somewhere to get the district game in. The game could have been and should have been played.

I disagree. They should have found a way to play the championship game rather than just handing the championship off. The State deadline for deciding the champion is the 11th which means they could have played yesterday evening or even this afternoon. What happened in the regular season does not often determine the outcome in the tournament. Just look at 8 AAA where the number 6 (out of 7) seed advanced to the championship game and lost in the championship game to the number 5 seeded team. The top four seeded teams were knocked out in the tournament and that includes Tullahoma who was undefeated in district play. If you begin this scenario, there are are least two times that I recall when Riverdale was a number four seed and upset a number one seed in the tournament. The boys from Siegel deserve a chance at the tournament title during the tournament format. It is too bad that this was the route chosen when there are alternatives available. This is one of the failings with the teams in Murfreesboro who continue to be held hostage to their schools' football programs and do not have their own soccer fields. Get you a soccer field guys and don't limit yourself to playing where football controls the schedule or will tear up the field before a game.

The seeding and game times are correct. The By-Laws originally had the location for this year's tournament at Siegel. However, Lebanon was "skipped" in 2007 because of their inability to host the tournament at night and that would push everyone up a year. Which would make this Blackman's year to host the tournament if I understand the situation correctly. Now, let the tournament begin!
