  1. spirit01: that is precisely the problem; club k took the money and kept it, but DID NOT provide the services. the particulars in this case are simple. tell me any other business who could get away with that.
  2. will we get "lucky" and have the game broadcast by wmsr?
  3. spirit01: in my post, i never questioned the quality of instruction nor the individual attention given to the students at club k. if you will reread my post, you will see that what i questioned was the club k policy of PAY IN FULL ADVANCE AND IF YOU QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COURSE WE KEEP ALL YOUR MONEY, BUT IF CLUB K QUITS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COURSE CLUB K AGAIN KEEPS ALL YOUR MONEY. DOES THAT SEEM FAIR?
  4. wallflower2: do i hear you saying that it is fair for club k to keep the trainee's money if the trainee quits in the middle of the session, and that it is also fair for club k to keep the trainee's money if club k quits in the middle of the session?
  5. does anyone know if Club K still handles the financial part of its program on a one-way street? or is the "gander now getting treated as well as the goose?"
  6. sportnut, what does "back to the top mean?"
  7. I am sure Club K is a fine organization with fine people, and I have no doubt that they have improved the game of softball in tennessee. But several years ago, we had an experience in our local community that left a bad taste in our mouths. club K sent down a pitching instuctor to a group of our girls, and told us up front that we had to pay in advance and that if a girl quit before the class was completed, there would be no refund of any amount. That was fine with us, so we agreed and paid up. Guess what--About half way through the class, the instructor quit, and no replacement was sent, and the girls went home. Maybe there is something i don't see here, but it seems to me that "what is good for the goose is also good for the gander." In other words if a girl quits and there is no refund, then it only seems fair that if Club K quits in the middle of the class, there should have been a full refund. but alas---no word from the club on any type of refund of any kind.
  8. does anyone think there are any umpires or coaches who have big ego problems? i guess my question is do you think there are coaches or umpires who do this job more for themselves than for the players?
  9. hey buki boy--don't foget about the equipment we have to buy and replace occasionally! it ain't free! buki boy, why don't you just hush---you obviously are ignorant of the facts.

    Amazing Feat

We were privileged to witness a triple play last night by the Warren County Lady Pioneers. It was a masterful piece of work performed by the girls. no outs(of course) runners on second and third. batter hits ground ball to 3rd; 3rd baseman looks runner back and fires to 1st base for out #1; runner on 2nd starts for 3rd, 1st baseman runs her back; then runner on 3rd bolts for home; 1st baseman throws a strike to home; big pileup and runner is called out; runner on second goes for third base, and catcher gets up off the ground and guns her down at third. 3 OUTS IN A MATTER OF ABOUT 10 SECONDS!
  11. absolutely! i donate most of the money i make anyway!
  12. buki-boy-just finished another double-header--4 hours(65)--you do the math! no travel time included!
  13. buki, so you have been an umpire, eh? was that high school umpiring? i believe that is our subject here--high school umpiring.
  14. wrong again, buki boy; umpires spend approximately 30 minutes before or between games checking bats, helmets, playing field, etc. if you want to get technical, most umpires spend well over 4 hours taking care of a DH. therefore, it probably figures to lesss than $15.00 per hour. but you know what buki, most umpires i know don't do it for the money; they enjoy doing it for the kids, and in many cases it is a thankless and unappreciated job. but you know what else, buki boy, somebody has to do it! why don't you call the tssaa and sign up to be an umpire; your eyes will then be opened to the truth and you can stop making bold assertions on a subject on which you appear to know very little.
  15. wrong again Buki--- i have had 21 assignments this year, and 17 of them have been doubleheaders----4 out of 21 is not the majority-- work on your facts, friend.
  16. Buki4life80--let's do some figuring; jv game starts at 5:00---then varsity games starts at 7:00 and ends near 9pm. ok, that is 4 hours---$65.00 divided by 4 =$16.25; where do you get $25.00 per hour? looks like fuzzy math to me.
  17. what i was actually getting at was that the "baseball" umps i ahve worked with seemed more concerned about "looking good" than with getting the call right. i suppose the majority are not like this, but the baseball umps i have worked with do not want me to change their call when they appeal to me even if i am 100% sure they were wrong. i think we should do everything in our power to get the call right, no matter how it makes us look!
  18. is there a difference in the way softball umpires approach umpiring than the way baseball umps do?
  19. er....uh...i am not ...er...quite ..er sure; i don't have those figures; ok.ok,ok. the chattanooga umps are excellent also!
  20. iconu2: Wow! your confidence in us fills us with humility; thank you for those positive comments;
  21. addictedtosports.com: thank you for those kind words about middle tennessee umpires; you might be interested to know that the m'boro association umpires year in and year out score at or near the top on the closed book test, which indicates that they spend countless hours studying "the book."
  22. several teams have many of their games aired on the radio waves; who does the best job of announcing? take a "lucky" guess.

    LC vs. CC

ok, at first this seemed to be a complicated matter, but now i have it all figured out; it is not rocket science; to determine if a bat is legal, one just simply reads the last post on this message board. by last post, i don't mean the one right above mine here; i mean the last one one that you read whenever you log on
