    Forfeit

    Why did Sheffield forfeit?
  3. noitall, did you not know that it is a known fact that the men in blue can see better on a full belly?
  4. easy there, noitall----now you're starting to meddle--better get back to softball.
  5. well, i am not sure there is sarcasm throughout the ENTIRE quote, but i'll take your word for it. i'm glad you cleared that up quickly--i feel better already. i should have known that you wouldn't be stupid enough to think that ALL umpires are bad.
  6. pedo, i am quite disappointed in your comment about umpires; i thought you understood that stereotyping was a sign of ignorance, but apparently i was wrong. i know some really good umpires that don't "suck." and by the way, it is very unprofessional of you to use that vulgar term.
  7. shelbyville hosts Franklin County Thursday at 7:00.
  8. riverdale is in the championship vs beech--they just beat maryville 2-1.
  9. riverdale is in the championship game vs beech---they just beat maryville 2-1.
  10. riverdale leads 2-1 bottom of the 6th.
  11. catchman, i am also old--LOL--but the question in the original post had to do with whether or not all of the batter's box is considered foul territory if the 1st and 3rd base lines do not cut through it; there is no judgment about that. the answer is a resounding "NO!"
  12. catchman, i didn't think we were talking about a judgment call--i thought we were talking about whether or not a ball that lands in any part of the batter's box should be automatically ruled a foul ball.
  13. the home plate is in fair territory; if the batted ball goes fair, the fact that it bounced off the plate doesn't change a thing; it is still fair. the fact that a ball lands in the batter's box does not make it foul. the location of the batter's box has nothing to do with whether a ball is fair or foul. i find it difficult to believe that an umpire told you that if a ball lands in any part of the batter's box it is a foul ball.
  14. if my memory serves me correctly, soddy came to manchester to play in a sub-state game against the lady raiders in 1995. coffee county led early, i think, but eventualy lost the game. the game was played on the t-ball field at the park.
  15. It has been stated on this board that the teachers' union protects idiots and undesirables. By "union" I assume the post is referring to the Tennessee Education Association. I was not aware that the TEA protected the jobs of teachers who do things for which they should be fired. I am aware that the TEA ensures all of its members that he or she will get a fair hearing. Can anyone find fault with that? I have always been under the impression that it was school administrators who refused to do their homework and get rid of the teachers who should be fired. Let's also put another long-standing myth to rest: the Tennessee Teacher Tenure Law does NOT protect idiots and undesirables--nor does the TEA.
  16. what goes north vrs A/AA mean?
  17. let's get that soddy/brentwood score on here as soon as possible; is there no in progress score on the game?
  18. congratulations, lucky, on this milestone. you always tell it like it is... er... i mean... uh... like you think it is. LOL but what more can you do? in all honesty, lucky, you should have been john ward's replacement--the big orange blew it when they didn't choose you and bill bouldin to replace john ward and bill anderson, and i am dead serious--i have said that for years. NO ONE is in your league at sports broadcasting. keep doing what you do best.
  19. on the riverdale website, friday's schedule (page 2) doesn't show, and neither does saturdy's, so i can't print 'em. not talking about the team schedules.
  20. muffin-what is that large square and compass on your post?
  21. the only coach in tennessee that any umpire would have any reason at all to fear is the weave!
  22. for the life of me, i can't understand why ANY umpire would be scared of ANY coach!
  23. it's not nice, lucky, to jump umps unless you have been a high school fastpitch ump yourself. i have said for years if coaches and radio announcers would umpire a few games, they would be a little more careful at handing out criticism.
  24. r rodney rogers was an assistant coach at stevenson, alabama; i am not sure if he worked under ken mckinney or phillip lolley or maybe both; rodney is a great coach who also worked with walter "moose" bouldin at franklin county and maybe at grundy county. rodney may have been coaching at north jacskon in stevenson when they took on franklin county for 5 straight years--north jackson took three of those games, but the big thing about that is that if north jackson were in tennessee, they would be classified as 2a, while franklin county is 5a. nuff said about how they play football in alabama. perhaps more evidence will be on display in tuscaloosa this saturday.
