  1. Central did play Cleveland, twice, losing the first time and winning by 16 the second time. Good group of girls, no super star and playing well together at the right time. They are not as dominant this year as in the past but still good enough to put Tyner and Brainerd away.
  2. The transfer rule of public to private or private to public was a one time shot, not a player has to have a legal residence transfer (meaning they had to actually move, not just get a mail box) or set out one year from the time he/she played for the team they are leaving. Check out tssaa.org and look under the section on by-laws and then on the section on transfers.
  3. McMinn Central's lady Chargers are playing really great ball at this time, I think they have a real shot at the state title.
  4. Having the Spring Fling in Memphis is a nightmare for most of the state, especially the eastern third, and it means almost every team participating has to travel some distance. Nashville would be ok, Murfreesboro would be ideal. Not the potential traffic problems Nashville has, large enough to host any event, plenty of motels and plenty of restaurants. Several decent fields already exist at the north end of the city next to the airport and with a little money and time could be as good or better than the fields in Memphis. Again, no home field advantage even for middle Tennessee teams since almost no matches are held there. If a larger venue is necessary for the finals, MTSU has a very good soccer field. Murfreesboro is large enough to host basketball, I would find it hard to believe any more folks would attend Spring Fling than attends the basketball tourney.
  5. Distritc 5 is very wide and covers a lot of land from Sweetwater to Tellico to Boyd and Grace in Chattanooga and it is hard for us to see each other play and as a result in the past several years we have not chosen a tournament team for boys nor have we done so for the regular season. I feel it is something we should do, the players deserve the recognition and deserve the chance for area colleges to see what their coaches think of them. It is not an excuse, the girl's tourney was at Central this past season and I published a sheet and had the district 5 coaches to vote on the players and we had a team but I was not in charge of this years boy's tourney and no one else thought to get this on the agenda. When we (the coaches) next meet for a district meeting I will bring it up and try to get it on the agenda for it to be there in the future. My apologies to those who deserved to be on the team but one person cannot decide for all 8 schools. Sweetwater was the #1 regualr season champ and the decision was up to them. We'll try to do better.
  6. Our soccer rules in TSSAA are not set by our board but by the NFHS (National Federation of High School Sports). I do agree, as a coach, many times cards are given in high school soccer that equals a technical foul in basketball but they are the same offense. Language is a good example. The NFHS must become better aquainted with its sports so as to give equality to its players. They have not yet realized that when they give a player a red or double yelow that the offense is permantly recorded on their athletic record. We have to file papers to the effect that we have had a conference with the player, his/her parents, the coach, the principal plus they must be reprimanded further by setting out the next match. If you can get it changed, it would be great. Many of us have been hounding TSSAA to look into it but since we are not a revenue sport, very little is done, I am afraid, except to laugh into their closed hand.
  7. actually, hand checking is not a violation unless the arm is in a straightend position as if a push had taken place, a hand check with the arm in a bent position is allowed as long as constant contact is not made. please know the rules if you are going to quote them.
  8. boy, am i glad you cleared that up. it has finally come out, central has had only 5 games in 2 years time, i mean, afterall, what you are saying is true, we only lose on the road? right? uhh, did we play at your place this year? oh yeah, i remember, that's when youall lost.......again. quit whinning and take your butt whipping like a grown up, but, then, perhaps your not.
  9. you know, you keep saying he whines and pouts but perhaps your looking at your coach, kicks screams, cusses, rants raves, and thats class? whine, every post you've put out is whinning about us kicking your butt. but hey, just keep on whinning, we'll keep on winning.
  10. uhhh, perhaps you cant read. they played the top teams in Ga in a tourney and lost only two games. they constantly play teams in the 3a bracket. beating mcminn co., cleveland, etc... and youall play WHO??????
  11. by the way, it's their, not there. their is refering to a person or persons, there is a place. get it right honor student.
  12. yes, I have been at all the games, including the one at meigs. the young lady that coachs meigs would not shake Central's coachs hand, would not even speak to him. at the tourney vs polk, after the game, she got on to polks coach because he didnt vote for her player for mvp. little miss tommy jr. needs to grow up and be her own coach instead of a wanna be puppet with him pulling her strings. and i never heard the n word from any fan, if you heard it, perhaps it was ment for you only, toward you. act your age, let the students play the game, after all, it is "high school"
  13. were you there when she supposedly threatened her? i was, there was no threat ubt the meigs girl's sister, who plays at TWC, did threaten someone, someone she took to be another player when in reality it was a 25 year old fan. miss TWC pushed and shoved and threatened her. the 15 year old had nothing to do with it. and by the way, it's McMinn Central, not McMinn.
  14. Megan Shaver of McMinn Central scored 23 goals this year and had 12 assist for a career total of 102 goals and 47 assist. She moved into 6th all time scoring leader in the state according to TSSAA records just below Cindy Parlow's 112. I don't believe anyone has outscored her in this senior class for career totals.
