  1. No big surprises on the opening night except for maybe Tullahoma only winning 1-0 against Lawrence County. Coffee, Columbia and Lincoln all won handedly on opening night. So what does everyone think now? Now that the real season has begun.
  2. Game took forever. Cumberland County only had two hits I believe, but had plenty of runners. Coffee pitchers combined for a whopping 12 walks. Not sure of Cumberland County's rotation but they started Dalton Bell and brought in Bryan Jones.
  3. I agree with fuzby to an extent. I have no problem with Coffee County fans supporting their teams. But sometimes they do look at things through some rose colored glasses. However, I don't think the Coffee County fans are the only ones on CoachT that does the same thing. That is what makes high school sports so fun--everyone thinks their team is the best and their players are the greatest.
  4. I will be rooting for Coffee County until the end, but I just don't see how they beat Oakland. There will be a mismatch at almost every position defensively for Coffee County. I expect to see a lot of zone from Coffee County. If they can pack it down, make Oakland shoot the outside shot and the Patriots have an off night shooting and the Raiders are able to pull down the boards then they have a chance. My heart wants Coffee to win, but my head says Oakland by 15.
  5. Only way Coffee wins is if they play a controlled slow-down tempo and keeps the game low scoring. Coffee also needs Magourik back from injury and emotionally if Marcrom can just play a few minutes will be a big lift. Let's be honest though Coffee County has to play a near flawless game to pull off this upset, but there have been bigger upsets.
  6. Sounds like the refs are keeping a pretty tight grip on things. Let them play!
  7. Keep the updates coming. This one sounds like it is going down to the wire.
  8. Coffee County hasn't beaten Lawrence County yet. I don't know what will be different. Hopefully effort. But you just never know when you are going to get it from Coffee County.
  9. Gomab, I love how you always post something on Micah after a bad game. You posted about how he average so little in the first Christmas Classic. Now you are back on this game. What about the 15 or so games in between where he has averaged over 20 points and 15 rebounds?
  10. Or D. Twilley was ineffective as well. Stewart was the only one of the big three to show up tonight and that was all they needed. Coffee County led the entire first half. Shelbyville took the lead midway into the third and never trailed after that.
  11. My guess is that it will definitely be a pro-Lady Falcon crowd.
  12. Not if Micah gets everyone involved like he did and stays as active as he was.
  13. Columbia hasn't lost a district game yet and I see no reason why this trend doesn't continue. However, Lincoln County matches up with them better than anyone else that is why they are playing in the championship game. Could be a good one, should be a good one, but will it?
  14. Depends on how Shelbyville plays. If Twilley and Stewart shoot it like they did in the first two games probably the same result. If Coffee can contain just one of them they have a good chance of pulling off another upset. Interesting in the first two meetings Coffee County had the lead at some point in the fourth quarter but lost both, so they have to seal the deal.
  15. Yes, Micah only had 11 points tonight. But I would venture to say it was one of his best played games of the season. The team was much more under control and patient on offense than they have been lately. Add the fact everyone hit the boards was the difference.
  16. Where has that Coffee County been in 2005? That looked like the team at the beginning of the season. Welcome back!
  17. I will agree there is a ton of young talent but as a district overall the teams are down. Granted in two years the district may be the strongest it has ever been.
  18. I wouldn't say it was down but it was definitely weaker than in past years.
  19. I agree and that is why I am against individual recognition in a team sport.
  20. I have a feeling there will be more people upset with the girl's team than the guy's team. I was pretty close on the guys team. If I had to guess the team will go something like this: Alex Ross Nancy Moore Deandrea Bullock Leesa Jeffries April Snipes Nisha Buchanan Cassie Carden Heather Grose Lauren Hudgens Jennifer Hawkins MVP Janay Armstrong And of course co-coaches of the year in Moore and Hardin Which means there are some really good players left off and I know this. Just guessing how it will go. This is not the team I would have. There could possibly be only four teams represented on the team.
  21. Pretty much the team I had except I had Lowery making it instead of the entire Columbia team. I don't know how they pulled that off.
  22. Who picked Columbia to win the district? Everyone. Who picked Lincoln County to finish second? Not many. As for the MVP award, I don't think Armstrong is the most valuable player on her team. I do think the MVP award should have come from someone from Columbia though.
  23. If it was Most Valuable Player, then I could see giving it to Zac Walker. Because he is the most valuable player on the number one team in the district for all the reasons that have been stated. I think his biggest asset to the team is he keeps the team under control. However, being it is the player of the year I say Twilley because in my opinion he is the best player in the district right with Williams of Coffee County, but you can't give it to someone on the last place team. However, none of this matters. It depends on which coach can pull enough votes for his player. But I would say it is a three-horse race between Twilley, Walker and Williams and one of them will win.
  24. Who knows about which Coffee County team will play? It is like a team with multiple personalities. However the last couple of weeks have been pretty similar. Get off to a slow start, play better in the second, tread water in the third, come out like a house of fire in the fourth, either take the lead or come within striking distance and then blow it in the final three minutes. Can they win? Yes, they already have. Will they? Who knows, not me. I have watched them play a lot so I am more confused than most.
