  1. Well, it's just Week 2 but the potential for a region championship to be settled this week is there. Both teams come into the game after fairly disapointing Week 1 efforts - Franklin sloppily defeating Oakland and Ravenwood losing to Brentwood Academy. I'd post more... but I'm being told I have to post now by someone... GO REBS!
  2. Chalk up two more victories for Region 6-5A against Region 4-5A: Franklin 27 Oakland 6 Brentwood 19 Smyna 9 LaVergne did defeat Centennial 21 (or 28, depending on your source) to zip. There are a couple more of these matchups in Week 3 and a whole slew of 'em in Week 5. Looks like Region 6 is still the best to me...
  3. BigDogDaddy called me last night and in his words - ugliest win in at least 3 years or so in Franklin. And while it sounds like there is much work to do, I'm not too worried. Why? Well, faninthestand took one of the reasons right out of my mouth: good teams make their own breaks, they find a way to win even on a night when they're not playing too good. Also, it is JUST Week 1. While it sounds as if Franklin took a step back from last week, it must be considered that they came storming right out of the gates last week on defense and special teams and the outcome was never in question. Mistakes that carry over from last week look a bit more significant in this game. I would much rather get a bad game out of the way now instead of later on in the season. And while it isn't an excuse, Franklin is coming off that huge victory and do have that huge region game next week - I hope they weren't looking ahead. But if the Rebs were, well, take this as a lesson. You can't do that - you won't get lucky again. As BigDogDaddy said to me, special teams can't bail you out every week - especially in Region 6-5A. But, we survived. Let's get refocused to take on the tough Ravenwood Raptors.
  4. It is crazy around here on Friday nights... but oh, in such a good way! But yeah, CoachT and iamoz do a lot of hard work. iamoz got me to enter in-progress scores for a week last year, and man, it was hard trying to keep up with everything! Kudos to them for their hard work!
  5. Interesting... I think many would chose the Germantown semifinals game of that same year as the low point in play calling. I think I'll entertain myself by watching the DCHS game tonight though... "are you okay? Are you still with us?!" "I'm okay! I haven't fallen off the back of the press box." And then something about a full moon or something... Hope you and all the other Rebel fans have a safe trip to Freedom Field tonight... GO REBS!
  6. You have been reported directly to CoachT - that's not a threat, it's a promise. Topic closed.
  7. Franklin hasn't unraveled or folded in any loss in the past three years, not even the BlueCross Bowl last year. That's definitely not going to happen. In fact, though I won't make a score prediction, I doubt tomorrow... no, it's tonight now, isn't it?... will be "The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down." (props to all of you who know this song... my father informs that all the bands [hint right there, eh?] used to play that when they played Franklin back in my dad's playing days) GO REBELS!
  8. Good to hear... GO REBS! By the way, are we going to be able to count on you again tomorrow night for great updates on here?
  9. Or maybe not... only time will tell.
  10. If Brentwood was the next week or if we had lost to Brentwood in the playoffs last year... I'd buy that. But I don't. Plus, Franklin doesn't look ahead. It's just not something they do.
  11. Or do you actually mean looking ahead to Ravenwood?
  12. Or it sounds like I have no idea what the guy was trying to say. And anyways, there's a difference between respect and giving a school a shot. For example, I respected Kenwood but did I ever give them a shot against us? Nah.
  13. What do you mean by that???
  14. Or could it be that someone isn't letting him be the defensive coordinator that he really is? Some of the better defensive performances came when... well, this is a discussion that I don't know I really want to get into.
  15. What about the timeless victory over MBA in Week 10 of 2003? That wasn't a big win? And USA1- that better not be a shot at Pittman. He's one of the better defensive minds in the Midstate.
  16. I'd only "love to see" BA lose because it would mean that a Region 6-5A team won. No other reason beside that.
  17. Dickson County 20 Henry County 14
  18. Wes, I know you weren't - no worries. thumb Have I given a prediction yet? I don't think so... in a game that BA tries to make time of possession a key stat by running the ball a lot: Brentwood Academy 17 Ravenwood 14 You can't ever rule out a Jack Pittman defense from rising to the occaision against a solid offense.
  19. I have watched it... and just watched it again. Now as to the other part of your last post, I'm not sure I know what you're asking about... but hey, you're BigDogDaddy- anything you want to do would turn out good, so sure! thumb
  20. I had forgotten about that...
  21. I'm assuming that idea didn't fly for some reason? That's unfortunate. Then FHS would not be on the map simply for it's good football, but also for it's... you'd have to give it some type of Franklinesque name... could have been a big hit.
  22. BDD will be able to reply to this a bit better but I'd say this probably had to do with a couple things: 1) The "new" offense was just that - new. 2) Franklin is pretty typically quite good up front; perhaps Riverdale was just that good?
