Unaka should have 4 Seniors .... Michael Carpenter, Matt Rasnick, Brandon Medina and Andrew Church

About 100 13-15 year old boys with no where to play summerball.

Is it true that the Jr. Babe Ruth Season will be cancelled? Will they have to play at Unaka? And incidentally, if forced to play at Unaka, Hampton, on even on the County's most modern facility, Cannon Gouge at Happy Valley, there can be no Night Games; none of the County Teams have Lights. For several years the Jr. Babe Ruth was managed from within the city limits, and ALL teams benefited. Elizabethton, Happy Valley, Hampton and Unaka all have several great players who played their Little League baseball inside city limits; and their Jr. Babe Ruth baseball at the field located on the Elizabethton High School campus. What's the problem? Who in his/her/their right mind(s) would dare force the Jr. Babe Ruth players, to include those who will be attending Elizabethton High School, to have to play at the County High Schools, none of which is centrally located, and again, none that have Lighting. Remember, Our County, and City players have won several state tournaments in recent years, those players who were trained on the Elizabethton field. Quite simply, there is no other feasable place to have Summer Ball - - - so many Night Games. And, I'm pretty sure that the Lighting for the field in Elizabethton was Granted on behalf of The American Jr. Babe Ruth Association? We also remember the great efforts of Ricky Garrison, Tim Chambers, Noel Church, C. Y. Peters, Lamont and Rusty Barnett, Sam Harrison, the late Hack Hyder, Al King, Jerry Thomas, and so many others in maintaining the fields, and most significantly, they personally buit the Press Box, funded solely Outside the Elizabethton High School and City School systems. Comments?

As for Babe Ruth Making the state Tournament. Rick Garrison and C.Y Peters won back to back State titles five years ago. Three years ago the 14's not only won the state but also the Ameteur Youth World Series. Last Year Peters took the 16's and won the State and played in the Dizzy Dean World Series, Tim Chambers won the State tournament with the 13's two years ago and with the 14's last years. Seems you don't know much about Babe Ruth Baseball

Yes Doug made three trips losing all games in the first round.. His best chance was his Jr. Class that didn't make it. The first year they installed the sub-States at sectional. (Which didn;t last but two years}. North Greene had a Weems girls and a really good team but Hampton had defeated them three times already as seem little chance N. Greene would not go down in the Sectional. But by Murphys law, Alice Peters had back spasms and could not play, C. troutman kicked a player in retaleation and was thrown out of the game. Long story short N. Greene wins and goes to Murfreesboro only to lose by 60 points, 90 to 30 in the first round. Maybe the State tournaments biggest margin. It was Phillips best chance to finish higher in the state.

The Bowling girl is Cara Bowling and she is the real deal.. look for her at Elizabethton, but she would start as a Freshman and take Unaka's Kenneth Chambers Rangers to the next three State Tournaments with a great shot at winning next year. She will also start at Elizabethton. Not since the Doug Phillips fransice who led the Bulldogs to three state tournaments a few years ago has there been a girl so donimant as Bowling.. Where ever she decides to go she must look at this, at Elizabethton and Happy Valley it is much more difficult to go to the state tournament than in class A. The college coaches make arrangements to have someone in Murfreesboro to scout the players. They don't attend regular season games or district/Regional games.

Cosby has no chance to stop Townsend.. They could not stop Medina from Unaka and if Unaka doesnt make so many mistakes Cosby leaves Stoney Creek 6-1. Townsend will score as many times and Coach JC Campbell will let him next week and will rush for over 200 yards if Lunsford don't pull him after the Dogs take a 40 point lead

They are always hiring! Its a great job if you like working in a athletic setting. You'll have the best seats in the house.. NO EXPERIENCE necessary, all you need to excell is patience, wisdom, and some knowledge of the basketball rule book. You'll need skin as thick as John Rockers skull, 20-20 vision in each eye including the one in the back of your head. You'll be expected to be perfect the first day and improve. You can attend clinics, practices and work live scrimmages, then cut your teeth on freshman and JV games, while working your way up to the varsity level. You will encounter fans in the bleachers, coaches on the bench, and players on the court that know more, see better, and aren't the least bit shy about saying so. Referees don;t get a lot of high fives, and don;t wait around after the game for attaboys. A great day at the ballgame is when nobody notices you hurrying to your car in the parking lot. True refs are the ones who chooses to officiate in the first place. They are self confident, mentally tough, fair and unafraid of the criticism that is inevitable. Refs accept criticism as a part of the game. Mistakes stay with you longer than making a great block-charge call. Business is Business but their is a heart in there somewhere. Just trying to do a good job, a great job, and when you don't who suffers? The Kids do ! and were all in it for the kids, Right!

mike the Vik - you don't get points for TD's called back.. In the first game the betsy defense gave up one score and thats all. The other 4 scores came on 2-pass interceptions and two punt returns. If the Cyclones don't punt to number 9 and Jeffers has a good like like he did at Cherokee, then the Cyclones will pull the upset of the year. Betsy is playing for another home game, only way to get it is to beat Tennessee High. - Maryville takes 26 to Elizabethton instead of 81 to Bristol on Thanksgiving weekend. Eliz. 14, Viks 13 (just like last year in the Castle)

Spoke with some of the Cyclones today and they were very confident. In each game I have asked them about, the ones they were sure about they won.. So I pretty sure they'll be ready for Cherokee and will win the game. Would like to see one more game at home this year for Betsy, so I pulling for Greenville to win.

Elizabethton's entire team with the exception of one Senior are all Juniors. The League should be very interesting this year with the loss of Chucky at Volunteer. Central and Happy Valley will probably be the top contenders, with, Betsy, Hampton, North or Johnson County capable of winning big games. North and Unicoi could be the darkhorse, and I think North has another new coach. With Alex Carroll and Big Jordy Harrison on the inside, the Warriors stay out of foul trouble, Caldwell, Andrew Bowman,Ryan Toney, Drew Davis outside shooting, Happy Valley will be hard to play with. Their coach doesnt have much experience though, (only has 900 wins on his record) and it will be his greatest year since 1974. Good Luck Coach Bayless

Not for sure, but if I think Elizabethton will be at Morristown East in the first round of the play-offs. Great job Coach Pless, win this game, get a second chance at Sullivan East... That is if they can will their first play-off game. Win two and get Tennessee High back in Elizabethton.
